I said the other day we had sold about 15,000 Cardiff City shirts this season, well I have been updated, over the last few weeks thanks to Malky and the team and of course Xmas, its

Approx. 19,000 Cardiff City shirts sold, this season.

I remember City selling an incredible 10,000 City shirts in one season under Rick Wright, which was a record then. I loved it, as for the first time ever kids were wearing them all over South Wales.

Our record sales were when Robbie Fowler was here.

And with approx. now well over 18,500 season ticket holders and crowds off over 23,000, WE ARE THE NO 1 SUPPORTED TEAM IN WALES. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Would we be the number one supported team in Wales if Swansea had a 40,000 stadium?

Re: " UPDATED "

Thu Dec 15, 2011 6:01 pm

If Swansea had a 40,000 stadium? Probably not, while they are in the Premier League. But our catchment area is bigger, and if we were both in the same division, we would probably have bigger crowds. But, per head of population, Swansea's crowds have compared well to ours.

Just shows that football is the No 1 sport in Wales :D :ayatollah: Even in the south.

Craig, Swansea will never ever compete with us regarding support, In 1980 I remember well when they were promoted to the old First Division they only averaged about 17,000(incl thousands of away fans) yet ended up 6th in the league, the following year their crowds were about 13,000.

The surrounding areas of South Wales and Valleys mostly follow the Mighty Bluebirds. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Crowds of 23,000 are in reality only 18,000 as 5,000 season ticket holders don't bother turning up

So doesn't that make Swansea the best supported team in Wales seeing as we've sold out the home allocation of every single game this season

And dress it up any way you want, we're better than you on the pitch and that is what matters.

You've sold fewer shirts than us http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/ ... 17,00.html

The number of people turning up for your games is lower than us viewtopic.php?f=2&t=64580&p=607684

We have sold out every home allocation this season and would get thousands more through the gates if the space was there

But you're the best supported team in Wales.

Still, week after week, more people give up their hard earned cash to guarantee their seat at Cardiff City FC that at Swansea.(even though a division lower) Given a level playing field (which has been over the last 5 seasons or so) you can't hold a candle to our support.
If (and we will) we get to the prem, you won't get a look in. ;) :D

But, the space isn't there.

Just like we aren't in the Prem.

Fact is our gates are higher, read the stats. Not that its that big a deal, I'm sure plenty of ST holders don't turn up at yours for Fulham and Bolton, just like we miss some at ours, end of the day its their choice and they are counted on the gate.

You are also boosted by having more away fans visit you to push your gates up.

There are no empty seats in the home end at our as any season ticket holders who are unable to make the game are able to sell their ticket to any of a large number of people desperate to get in.

As I said, we've sold out every home allocation and could have sold thousands and thousands more so this whole "we get bigger crowds than you so we're the best supported team" spiel is a load of bollocks.

Are your season ticket holders there to support you or there to watch their premiership team?

Is it true that some fans were selling their ticket for the Man Utd game for £200 ?

Is it true that your club had to warn your fans not to wear their beloved Man Utd shirts to the Liberty ?

Your support always has been poor and there is nothing to suggest it will ever be better than ours, as outlined above even when you have been in the top flight your attendances were extremely poor and the Vetch could have held over 25,000 at the time but only the first game Vs Leeds actually sold out.

I know half a dozen people who are now season ticket holders at the Liberty who are there to watch the other teams. They don't give f**k about Swansea City. Two them bought season tickets so they could sell the seat for one of the bigger games and recoup the money they paid for the season ticket.

I'm genuinely not into all this slagging each other off, it's really tiresome, but if Swansea come back down they'll be getting around 12-13k again which is about their true level of support.

Yes, of course they are

The club has a hardcore of x supporters and another group of y supporters who would maybe usually watch 50-75% of games for various reasons and z number who would catch the odd game here and there. Now this season they know that in order for them to get to watch any games they have to get a season ticket. This does not mean they are there to watch the opposition any more than when you get better crowds against West Ham rather than one of the smaller clubs that they are there to watch West Ham.

So give it up fella ffs!
