" NO EXCUSES FOR THE FAMILY STAND NOT TO BE FULL THEN "

For the Carling Cup Semi-Final 2nd leg

£18 for Adults and " £5 " for Under 16's  :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Every league game, you look at it and it always has hundreds and sometimes thousands of empty seats, yet sold out . :o

For the Semi-Final of the Cup, surely it will be full at these prices. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I am not having much work at the moment, but I don't care how much the tickets are, I will be there ( pick and shovel or not ). I just can't wait for the next game. I try to do at least 1 away game every season if I can. I went to Middlebrough 1/4 final 2008, Chelsea FA cup away , Oxford away this year. I wish I could afford to do more.
I must admit I started to loose interest during the summer, so many players leaving, a lot of unknown's coming in, but the bug is well and truly back. ( THANKS TO MALKY AND TEAM )

The problem with the family stand is that kids loose interest, it all depends on what their friends are up to and who they bother with. I used to have 5 season tickets but my oldest boy gave up going because his friends didn't want to go. He's 15 now and didn't want to go to the games with mam and dad and younger siblings.
Then one of his other became a season ticket holder and he's been a couple of times with him.

The problem I have got is that my wife and daughter are starting to turn plastic or fair weather fans, I don't know why I bother getting ST tickets for them some times, but if I don't then if they do want to go I may be able to get tickets online but the chances are they won't be able to sit by us, so I am sort of between a rock and a hard place.

Trouble is the people who will buy them seats will have to wait till january as all the "free" season tickets aint gonna get bought a ticket by there parents in there when they dont turn up to crucial league league games! :?

How much are Palace fans being charged at our place?

Re: " NO EXCUSES FOR THE FAMILY STAND NOT TO BE FULL THEN "

Perhaps the club should close the Family stand and open all the tickets up for general sale afterall the demand for tickets, for all games, is so high thousands of fans are locked out every game.

The problem with that of course is who gets blamed next when the stadium doesn't sell out everygame? Perhaps those bastards up in the posh seats they provide a nice easy target as thats barely half full every game. Where does this end?

As an alternative we could of course ask the club to drag all these 9 year olds and their parents out before the crowd at halftime if they don't attend a match or two. That would be fun as we could all give them a dogs abuse as entertainment during the halftime interval. But hang on that would be bullying wouldn't it?

Is that what we have become on this board, Bullies :? :? :? :? :?

Re: " NO EXCUSES FOR THE FAMILY STAND NOT TO BE FULL THEN "

The solution has to be to cut the number of family season tickets which are issued and limit it to half of the Grange End. A safe standing area could then be created with the other half.

That would then free up excellent seats in the Ninian Stand which shouldn't be hard to sell and increase sigificantly revenues to the football club.

Fair topay this is an experiment gone wrong at the club and they must be re-evaluating even having a family stand next season. May improve the atmosphere as well then. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " NO EXCUSES FOR THE FAMILY STAND NOT TO BE FULL THEN "

The success or failure of the Family Stand sort of falls into the subjective against objective box in my opinion.

From an objective perspective the club haswon the FL Family Award for last season so it must at least be a success in the eyes of people and organisations outside the club. It is also a terrific award that adds nothing but postives to the image of the club and quite rightly in my opinion rewards the terrific work done by Julian Jenkins and his team.

Subjectively of course is the counter arguement that it is a failure because it has had a negative effect on the atmosphere in the stadium, but that of course is why it's subjective rather than factually based.

The club has been able on a number of occasions to host matches without any police presence inside the stadium saving the club tens of thousands of pounds. How many games could be hosted without a police presence in the stadium if the family stand was abolished or moved to the opposite end of the stadium? In my opinion none. So is the price worth paying?

Well in my opinion if it's what the majority want then get on with it but if I was in charge of the club I would ensure that the additional policing costs were passed on directly to the ticket price for fans using the Grange Stand. Afterall isn't the atmosphere improved only by the closer proximity to the away fans allowing a dogs abuse to be exchanged between home and away fans? Or to put it another way more to do with events off the field rather than on the field.

The Carling Cup semi final is a midweek game that is being shown live on the BBC so will we get a sellout? Unlikely in my opinion but then again if we don't we can always blame the Family Stand.

I have a ST along with my grandson and we have seen every CC at the Stadium this season an TV or not we will there for this game. We would all wish to see the stadium sold out and for there to be a great atmosphere inside but in my opinion the club should only gaurantee tickets for the final, should we get there, for ST holders who buy a home ticket for the semi final and non ST holders who travel to Selhurst Park.

We all know that if we make the final there just won't be enough tickets to go around and in my opinion we should be asking where areall these fans because we are struggling to sell out the stadium week in week out at the moment.

But then again it's easier to dump on the Family Stand and blame ST holders in there it appears. In my opinion thats absolutely wrong but it does seem to be flavour of the month on this board at the moment.

As to the under 9's free ST seats then there's only 2 solutions as I see it 1.) charge normal U16 rates or 2.) adopt a 3 strikes and out policy , use it or lose it . Miss 3 games on the trot and revoke the ST ??

I forget about that Tim, thats where the problem lies, just look at the family stand at the Blackburn game, the only stand deserted.

Well I was in there and my grandson and countless others who are there every game. For those ST holders who didn't buy a ticket their seats were on general sale for 10 days before the game.

Cheapest tickets in the Stadium and still the seats didn't sell, Why?

Could it be that the club still apply the criteria of having to be an OAP, Under16 or U9 with a paying adult to get a ticket in the Grange Stand. Maybe club policy is contributing to the lack of numbers in this area together with what I accept is a regular non attendance from some ST holders.

The pricing structure in this stand is very good I pay £329 for my ST and my grandsons cost £10 even though he is now 10 thanks to the price freeze offer. The club has basically sold out every seat in this area because of these deals and maybe Martyn has it right when he suggests that any under 9 season ticket holder, or like my grandson anyone paying U9 rates but misses 3 games on thr trot has the ST revoked. Any adult associated with a revoked U9 ticket would then have to move to another area of the ground and pay the higher rates.

The club should also work to keep a set number of tickets on this area available for general sale for people who cannot afford to buy season tickets or cannot attend all games because of work commitments.

I do not accept that the concept of having a Family Stand is wrong or that it has been a failure but I do believe that some people are abusing the low costs tickets available. We are now 3 years into the Family Stand in it's current format and now maybe the club should look to "fine tune" ticketing arrangements as I am sure that some adults are getting reduced cost ST on the back of free or very low cost ST for U16 .

Thats whats wrong and unfair and this is what the club should deal with, maybe then we can move on from this preoccupation with the missing thousands in the family stand. I have never seen it deserted and the are thousands who have been to every game this season, like myself, and we shouldn't be tarred with the same brush as people who have abused the system.

Agree with everything Castelblue said, I go to all Saturday games with my 3 kids and the Mrs, Tuesday night games are a problem for us because it's a very late night for a 5 year old if a school night! The three in a row idea is a very good one, but as Castel says it does seem flavour of the year on this board to Slam the Family stand at every opportunity!! Canton end corners look empty to me most games, why not look at that area. Fans need to realise the powers that be are never going to swap ends.

Martyn, Thats the funny thing they do not and I can vouch for that as I have been to several meetings where they are yet to find the solution, they are trying to though. The problems stem back to when they first opened it and gave the kids tickets virtually away, adult tickets cheap and I know of many adults who hardly now take the kids yet they just go.

The family stand won't really be much of a problem for this game because Crystal Palace are going to have half the seats, I have to move elsewhere in the ground.

I wonder if PMG will let me transfer to the posh seats for £18. Hmmmm
