Absolutely fuming !!

My Wife who has MS and has recently been laid off from her Job on ill health. Now suffers such bad disability she finds it very hard to walk and quite often she can hardly walk at all. But she has been basically told by the Disability and Carers service she is only entitled to the lowest disability of twenty quid a week. WTF if she was an Alky or drug addict she would be entitled to five times that rate . We even know a teenager who plays football has a mobility Car. It makes you fooking mad .
We are appealing as we do not agree with some things they have put down. But unless you are an out and out scrounger you ain't entitled to f**k all in this fucked up Country.

That's why so many of us are now fit to burst. These w@nker bureaucrats are wrecking this country.

i got cerbral palsy and have trouble walking, i work full time etc luckily. i do get dla but had to fight for it for years


so most defo appeal i no how hard it can be mate.


hope she sorts it out, as u say u got drink problem and drugs or pop out 8 kids u get loads of stuff, but if you disability they don't look at u .

The same thing happened to my mother despite the fact that she has had both knees replaced & needs two walking sticks to get around So now she is basically house bound,we appealed but it got us no where despite her doctor & surgeon saying how bad her legs are,how about this goverment actually looks after its elderly and disabled instead of throwing money at others who dont deserve it !!!

I would suggest getting in touch with the CAB mate - I have renal failure and have been told that I when I eventually go onto dialysis i will be on disability - get them to help with filling in the form, as they know the way to word it all correctly.

Yes we will fight on, Its just gets me when scroungers are a plenty round here driving around in flash Cars and i know the vast majority don't need them or have any disability. Do you know Kids with ADHD !! there parents are entitled to mobility Cars It isn't even a proven illness, with doctors disagreeing. I know one who is a little shit at school but used to do Karate with my boy. Did he ever misbehave at Karate ? Did he f**k!! it was because he knew if he didnt behave he would be thrown out. So he can behave But was he any good ? No because he was so docile with the drugs he took. But at School he was uncontrollable so in my view he was just fooking naughty
Whatever your views on ADHD there are proven illnesses which aren't as cool as ADHD so they get shat on. I read one article of a soldier who came back from Afghanistan minus his legs and was told by the bureaucrat's that he aint disabled enough.

Not sure how true it is, but in some areas the appeal success rate is somewhere around 50% which says a lot about how wrong the initial assessments can be.
Also, it is a sad fact that the current governments aim is to get as many people off benefits as possible. It doesn't matter if they are genuine cases or need the benefits or not, just as long as they get people off them. It is a disgrace.

My missus uncle and auntie both claim disability and claim carers allowance for EACH OTHER.

NB, the situation at the moment is they don't want to take new claims and will turn almost everyone down. There are people dieing of cancer being turned down and when you consider that the appeals process can take 2 years with at least 18 months, those people are likely to be dead by the time their cases are heard.

The trouble is there are too many people on this benefit that need taking off it to make room for the new genuine cases. This government promised to retest all the ones claiming at the mmoent but I've not seen any evidence of that yet. I know people who have never worked and their claims are still going on. There's one couple by me who park their mobility car outside my house even though they live in the next street. Now if they can freely walk back and fore to the car in the next street, how the hell are they immobile? Truth is there is nothing wrong with either of them. They seem fine to spend most of the summer in their holiday home.
I'm not medically qualified but I could write off most of them just by sitting in Tesco's car park waiting for them to park in the disabled sections. The point being that if they can freely walk around a big supermarket (which to be fair means walking at least 1 mile all together if you walk up and down each part) then you really do not need a mobility car, simple as that.

The only advice I can give mate is don't just wait for the appeal to come through because it will take about 2 years. I think after about 3 months you can apply again so do that and let it run alongside the appeal. If they want to turn you down at least don't make it easy for them. It might also help if you contacted a MS group, of which there must be plenty. Being part of a group like that could put pressure on the decision makers. Also there are plenty of lawyers who specialise in these benefits.

Nukes best bet is to speak directly to your local DWP office , assuming you havnt already , then they will assess your Mrs and tell you exactly what she can claim for .

You are absolutely right. It doesn't matter what the illness etc is, it's all about what you put on the form. It's a fact that if a zombie straight from Night of the Living Dead were to apply then he'd not get the benefit. Simply because the zombie can walk and can raise his arms etc. The fact that the zombie is dead wouldn't make any difference to the decision maker, that's how crazy the system is. It's a silly tick box system and you have to know which boxes tick, if you don't then you don't get it no matter how ill you are. Common sence doesn't come in to it.
