" ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

to boo Chris Gunter every time he plays against us ?

Re: " ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

Yes.... He's a Welshman and Cardiff City fan.. So I think yes... :ayatollah:

Re: " ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

I tink all players who line up against us should be booed, including past players during the 90 mins. Pre-match ex-players should be applauded.

Re: " ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

Sun Nov 27, 2011 10:45 am

Given the fact that he is a Cardiff Fan who traveled away to watch us and never asked to leave I think the booing of him is a bit sad to be honest. :ayatollah:

No.

the way Gunter celebrated when Forest scored against us was disrespectful. The way he rejoiced after Forests 2-0 victory in front of us Cardiff fans made me sick.

Yes but I don't think he helps himself sometimes though.

This.

Why should we respect someone who doesnt show respect to us.

I remember Earnie crashing in a great goal for Norwich infront of th Grange End, there wasnt even a hint of a celebration - thats respect. Chopra also showed that the other week.

If Gunter is this big Cardiff fan, then why did he do that? I just dont like the guy on the pitch.

It was disgusting that some fans did that He never wanted to leave the club and was forced out by Ridsdale as we needed the money
After the abuse city fans gave him I do not blame him for celebrating This is a kid who supported us and travel to city from a young age and was with the club from the age of 9 he is a true city fan and fans abuse him

"After the abuse". That should read "before the abuse".

City fans never abuse ex players unless it is deserved.

Re: " ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

I would never boo any ex city player and certainly not one who came through the academy ranks so I cannot understand why people do it. So what if he celebrated when Forest scored against us because I bet he did that after having a dogs abuse off some city fans. The question is does it really matter?

At the end of this season he has 1 year left on his Forest contract and with MacNaughton not getting any younger, Chris will be 23 next year, how many wouldn't fancy having him back? Whatever your views he is a committed footballer and in my opinion would be well worth signing again at 23 years of age.

The question is would he fancy it given the dogs abuse he gets off some city fans. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

He'd had dogs abuse before that. Due to staying down after being fouled and kicking Whitts. The Forest fans were in the corner and he went to them, and responded when fans in 117/116 gave him more abuse.

It seems that some of us don't like seeing him give his all to another club.

I've got more respect for him doing his best for his new club than those who suck up to us during the games.

Having met him I find him a really decent lad who cares about City and did his best for us before being sold on to keep us afloat.

He's also been a great servent for Wales and is a good player who made the PFA team season before last.

booing during a match is nothing. theyre professional footballers for christ sake and they know full well its all psychological banter etc. the time to applaude and show your appreciation is pre match warm-up, team line up and when there are subsitutions. the rest of the game is to get behind OUR team. they are not daft and understand it fully well!

Never 'wanted' to leave the club?? You reckon??

Mid-table team (at the time) and the bright lights of Tottenhham come a-calling??

What would YOU do??

I don't blame him for taking a chance in the Premiership (even though he was warned at the time he was a tad too young in his development) as he has undoubted talent. That advice now appears to have been vindicated, eh??

However, his antics since leaving our club (and the one HE says he loves) have been pretty disingenuous, to say the least

Some comments he made (regardless of whether they were a 'tactic' to help his club or just naivety) and his antics in the corner at the CCS were pretty offensive to many Bluebird supporters who were there that night

As others have said, others who have left and come back have been far more respectful (Earnie, Chops, etc) and Earnie even said he wouldn't celebrate in event he came on yesterday and scored against his old club Forest. I applaud that too

For me, Gunter is 'fair game' but there are 'limits' to how far it should go and (in fairness) I didn't think he took that much stick yesterday and certainly not as much as last season :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Pretty much sums it up there, Ghali.

I don't want to hate any ex-player, but behave like that and we will start to behave the same

Re: " ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

Sun Nov 27, 2011 12:04 pm

So we're all allowed to slag him off constantly, boo him, scream at him
and then he scores.. he celebrates, gives a bit back... he's a c**t??

He is a young lad. It was a mistake. As has been pointed out, he used
to travel to away games when he was a little lad, he loved this Club and
did not ask to leave.

Perhaps at that moment, when the goal went in, he should have showed a
bit more maturity?

But look at some of the posts on here

Wouldn't you though Ian if you had been booed. I'm not sure where this all started but I have a feeling it was one of our fans who did the first abuse to Gunter.

Agreed
He said something in the media before his first return, I forget what but remember being unimpressed and dissapointed. Never boo'd him just don't like him. Never rate him either.

again, i find myself agreeing with the super Apple. which came first, the chicken or the egg?Died we boo first??? Maturity comes from experience, and he probably wouldn't do that again agaist a former club. He was silly to have done it and a tw*t. I certainly wouldnt boo him though.

Hmmm Well he certainly should not when he plays for Wales. During the game he is the opposition player and he should get no favours. Same goes for any Player no matter who. Do i dislike Gunter ? no i dont but when he is playing against us we are entitled to put him off his game :ayatollah:

Re: " ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

I know him and his family well. No one will have boooed him louder than me in the CCS yesterday!!

Re: " ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

Sun Nov 27, 2011 3:28 pm

I think a lot of it comes from his appalling challenge on Whitts a couple of Seasons back and his celebrations in the corner of the CCS I think if he really supported City he would show a bit more respect. Personally i didn't and wouldn't boo him but I can understand others who do but if you dish it out you have to expect it back and I just think it's a bit sad now.

BTW Whitts had a bit of payback yesterday ;)

he made an awful challenge on whitts in front of the ninian two seasons ago... got abit agressive and when the ninian fans shouted at him he gestured towards them... he also did the same when forest won 2 nil previous and celebrated infront of the city fans winding them up...

He accused us of being nasty to him which was a load of bollocks.

Re: " ARE CITY FANS WRONG ? "

It's because of that sort of attitude by many of our supporters why we will always remain a small club (with small minded supporters). How often to you ever hear fans of clubs like Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton etc ever boo a former player.
