I thought Eurozone referred to countries who have the euro as currency?

Either way, if Britain wasn't in the European Union, it would still spend massive amounts of money trying to rescue the worlds economy - through the IMF etc. Remember, this country needs Irelands economy to survive, otherwise this country will be fucked (such is the scale of trade between the two).

However, giving massive amounts to countries like Pakistan must stop now.

But Adam, Ireland dont want anything to do with the UK.
I am totally against the aid to Pakistan, which ends up in the wrong hands.

Well Annis, I don't know about that when most of the country wanks over Liverpool/Manure/Chelsea but that's for another day

It's not about sovereignity though - if Irelands economy fully collapsed, then that would result in Britain instantly losing about 20% of its exports - and the effects of that would be even worse than it seems.

It is in Britains best interests to loan money to Ireland if it helps ease the burden. As far as I'm aware, the money given to Ireland has been in the form of loans, meaning this country will make a profit on them in the long run, whilst keeping alive one of the top 5 importers of British goods.

Annis, I would actually like Britain to withdraw from the EU though, on that we agree 110% :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " WHO WANTS OUT ? "

Thu Nov 10, 2011 9:25 pm

The UK isn't in the Eurozone, the tory's were well aware of the potential problems and considered that they were likely to lose the election with labour comming in so made certain preparations shall we say. It worked quite well for a good few years until Gordon Brown and his minions finally worked out how to bypass the safety controls and that as they say was that.

Should the UK stay in the European Union, Yes. However this is something of a mute point when within the UK there are several left wing nutjob groups who wish the Union itself to dissolve so they can be independant

The ultimate plan being the join the EU as a separate country thereby going from being a medium sized player in a small nation to a totally insignificant non entity in a super state. Totally bizarre.

The UK hasn't contributed a penny to the Greek bailout as a result of being in the EU. The only money contributed is through the IMF which has nothing to do with the EU.

The money Ireland received was in the form of loans as stated by another poster with an interest rate favourable to the UK.

Wales has received money from the EU to train people back into employment (objective 1 funding)

Received money for training people especially parents who have children with learning difficulities, also regeneration of deprived areas e.g. merthyr and adamsdown in Cardiff

This country should opt out of Europe in my opinion. We should also stop giving overseas aid until we sort our finances out. We should also cut the benefits of migrants who wont learn our language.

It's all much of a muchness though, in that this country as a whole has given plenty to Europe.

The expense and waste is in the beauracracy that all this entails.

Why's that Annis? The EU is a in theory a magnificent concept, unfortunately due to various political deals with certain country's with the sole mission of making the whole of Europe left wing, i.e. you agree or get on the train to Siberia it has gone a bit tits up.

It still has a lot of life in it yet and can probably deliver if only the more right wing minded got involved rather than sitting on their arses and laughing.

As to the "Objective 1 funding" there is no such thing, its not EU terminology to start with so someone is telling porkies to the hard of thinking.

Where's my books by the way

Absolutely OUT!!

A pointless union that started as 'Free Trade' agreement amongst a small number of countries with a common cause

It had a (now too obvious) hidden agenda of creating a United States of Europe (U.S.E.) through the backdoor; ably led by France and Germany

Stupid laws, unequal status and an inability to set rules according to individual nations needs

PATHETIC!! We CAN do better on our own (UK that is, as I'd bin WAG too given half a chance!!)
