Compass and food outlets outside the CCS

Wed Nov 09, 2011 8:31 am

Now this is not just aimed at the setup at the CCS as this is football stadiums in general. If i / we went to a restaurant and the food was sub standard or we was at a Pub and the Beer tasted awful , then we would all complain wouldn't we ? Especially the Toffs like Ridsdale , the Malaysians and Steve Borley. But at football you are not allowed to complain because in general Football supporters are treated as sub standard citizens, and that is by the Clubs themselves the majority of times.

But some say "well dont buy then" But then you are not allowed to leave the stadium" That in itself is infringing on my rights. I pay a hefty price to enter the CCS so i expect to be looked after like a customer in the same way a Restaurant would look after there Customers.

Lets look at the cost !! Fosters Lager which is a cheap brand of Lager is £3.60 a pint and not even in a glass or even a decent plastic beaker. But even Fosters which isn't the best of tastes is even worse at the CCS many say it tastes watered down. Now if you stay at a Hotel the average pint is between £3.60 AND £4.00. But the difference is you get a proper Glass and then you will get a premium Lager Stella, Grolsch, Becks Vier, ETC. I used Lager as an example, as the same can be said for Bitters and Ciders ETC. The Food, which is sub standard is also higher price than the average, Cokes, Hot drinks. But Compass also do food outlets at Supermarkets ETC would not be allowed to treat there customers there so badly, but at football grounds Fans have no rights and that is the faults of the Owners, and Compass take advantage of this situation.

Why do we as supporters take this crap ? What are our rights ? And if i want to go to KFC at half time why do the Club have the right to stop me. It is disgusting. Now Mr Borley you ignored Marc's question in a previous thread will you respond to this one ?
Views please.

To be honest us supporters are our worst Enemy, We let ourselves to be treated like second class citizens. I think they make a mint as the queues are always massive. So nothing will change. But my main gripe is the fact they stop you leaving the Stadium to go to somewhere else. KFC/ Mcdonalds/ Asda/ or any of the other outlets. What rights have they to do that ? Yes they can stop you bringing it back in if they want but that is just pathetic.

I take my grandson to the CCS and sadly is has a health problem which means he needs to drink water and although I'm not a tight person I absolutely refuse to pay the price for bottled water at the CCS.

To put it into perspective you can buy 8 bottles of water in Asda for the price of 1 bottle in the CCS so I have started buying his water in Asda. This has presented a problem because of the gestapo attitude of the stadium stewards who noticed he was carrying a bottle of water and stopped us taking it into the stadium. So I had no alternative than topay almost 5 times the cost to get him a bottle inside the stadium, it was the same type of bottle we had just left outside the stadium and he was allowed to take it to his seat in the stadium so obviously no security or safety issue involved.

The following game and the gestapo want us to leave it outside the stadium but this time I show them the ground regulations which say that permission to take foodstuff into the stadium would not be unreasonably witheld. The gestapo tell me that they are just following instructions, I tell them thats exactly the same defence as their brothers used at the Nuremberg trials but it just washed off their heads.

I told them I was taking the bottle into the stadium and if they refused and my grandson was ill as a result I would sue them, the company that employed them and Cardiff City Football Club.

Bottled water may nu seem like much of an issue to people but it does go to the very core of the rip prices at the CCS. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Untill football fans say enough is enough then it will continue. You can also say i am coming in with my Water just try taking it off me and see what they say.

I don't see why they won't let us out of the stadium to go over to KFC or anything like that. When we went to Derby they let us go outside to the burger van! saved us paying their ridiculous prices and was much nicer

Because Chief it forces you to use there outlets within the Stadium. In my view it goes against my right to Choice. But they can say it is within there rights to refuse anyone re entry if they so want. The only way we would win this is if we all boycott the damn outlets but that won't happen as no one stands together any more.

One day we should just stand up to the stewards and say all of this like it takes away my rights and see what they say. Most of them wouldn't have a clue probably

I went straight to the stadium for a midweek game a couple of weeks back, and because I had been working late I didn't have enough time to change let alone get something to eat on the way, so I decided to have something at the ground. I decided on some chips...........£2.00 they charged me, for the most rank, cold and soggy chips I have ever tasted.

If that had happened outside you would of taken them back, and said it was sub standard. But at football we let them get away with it

if you have a medical problem which requires you to carry fluids you should be allowed in with them
as a steward im not medically trained so im not in a position to question your diagnosis or your medical needs I have to take your word for it, if this happens to me i do say try and keep the bottle hidden so not to annoy other stewards or other supporters who dont know your situation, i also make sure you have my steward number so if you are quizzed during the game you can ask for me directly and i can talk to my colleagues
in future skip the steward and go straight to the team leader even skip the supervisor as they should be more switched on
with regards to decanting bottles and cans outside the stadium is for one reason
different match categories requires different saftey rules so one match you wont have to surrender your bottles, another just to remove the bottle tops, in a different game it will be a complete decant. Now over the years we have had problems due to this inconsistency so if we do the same thing week in week out no one can say there is inconsistency in our policy. This works well for away fans especially when we have more troublesome fans saying i bet you dont do this when other clubs are here and we can turn around and say yes we do.

I see the same thing at motorway service stations, for me I just don't spend my money in places like this, same down in Canton town....there's a lovely little local bakery shop selling all kinds of fresh products....usually quiet, whereby Greggs has queues out the door.....can never understand it myself, anyway each to their own.....for me though hit em where it hurts.

At my local football league stadium, we are allowed to bring food and drinks from other places and go to the local shops.

I agreed with what's been said above and I've bought stuff in there and taken it back to complain only for a steward to tell me to stop complaining or i'll get thrown out. Think it's time for Matt allwright at Rogue Traders care of watchdog@bbc.co.uk. if enough of us complain about compass they will do a story on it. :ayatollah: :banghead: :banghead: :ayatollah:

Never bought any food it's expensive and looks minging.

But I don't understand why people can't go a few hours without food. I eat before or after I go in, no problem, nicer food at decent prices.

You need to get that Stewards name or his number and tell him you will report him if he continues to harrass. It is your right under statutory rights to complain if you feel the goods or food that you have bought does not come up to standard. Dont ever back down on that. You also need to take the name of the person selling the food which outlet it was from and complain to the head office.

Numerous times ive bought food from McDonalds and a few burger vans and they let me go straight in without checking bags or questioning. They seem to have a problem with bottles but if you were to take in, say a McDonalds drink, they do nothing, My advice to get around it is to either buy drinks like this and take them in or the simple solution... ribena and capri suns ;)
