Hatred of Rugby !!

Living in Bristol most of my life, with a very patriotic Welsh family i grew up watching Rugby in the 70s. Yes i enjoyed it, and at School it was mainly Football that we played so happy Days.
My good mate Placid Casual (Julian) always said to me he hated Rugby forced to play it in School ETC so i understood his hatred. Annis saying if you followed the City in the 80s and 90s you would understand as they took the piss out of anything CCFC and i was around in those Days so i know that to be true.
And i always remember a Bristol Rugby Fan in work who told me he watched Cardiff play at the Arms Park and he said some supporter was gobbing off constantly so a Steward threw him shouting "f**k off back to Ninian Park" and my mate was laughiing saying to me he was a Football supporter No i said he was a Rugby supporter as he was at the Rugby and you do not know if he has ever attended a game at the City.
Since i have moved over here when my Boy was at Junior School it was Rugby Rugby Rugby and Football was a once in a while and taken by a Female Teacher But it was St Davids Day what really got my goat when all the Pupils was told to wear Welsh Rugby tops Welsh Football tops were banned as they were considered not Welshness, Now that really Fucked me off.
But the real truth is yes everyone is told they have to love love Rugby in Wales but not many even know the rules, and its just a Day out to them. But as we all know it is Football the Kids want to play and its Football people want to see, Just look at the attendances us and the Jacks get compared to the Blues and Ospreys, its says it all. But its the National team as they are quite successful that gets the support, Make no mistake if Wales football continue to make leaps and bounds we can sell out the Millennium Stadium once again.
But a lot of the Welsh team support Football as well, and even though i do have not a dislike of Rugby i have a dislike of the very People that tell me i should love Rugby and Football is not a Welshness, But they are the idiots and i found myself willing the Welsh team on to victory this Morning despite these Morons.
I really hope Wales can win the World Cup and Wales Football can continue to flourish, Dont get me wrong i have no interest in attending Rugby games as it doesn't bother me really, but we should get behind Wales for the World Cup because we are bigger People than those bigoted twats.

Hold on, you are comparing supporting the welsh national rugby team to a local football team. What about welsh football supporters, they only support the welsh national team every few months.....i got plenty of friends who are season ticket holders for the dragons and blues........i hope we do well in all sport, even though i am a football person.

Being a CCFC football fan in the rhondda was challenging on times in my teens and twenties could be trouble on times. Loads of scraps with 'rugby boys'. Who would call themselves jacks etc just to goad us and pick fights etc. The local public thought we were scummy hooligans to support CCFC and the rugby dominated media just hated anything Cardiff city.
We were looked on as second class citizens and thats why there is hatred by some to egg.

I think that they were all arrogant wankers as these 'rugby people of wales' all follow man u, liverpool, chelsea, gunners, spurs and Leeds etc (maybe man city now to).

I played rugby until 19 and enjoyed the craic etc but there's nothing like being put down by all to make a group of lads bond and that's what we did - we stuck together - bluebirds - when the only thing we could win was an off! But the laughs and good times were just as good as any rugby game/trip - in fact -the drinking, singing, banter and bond is exactly the same - yet we were treated like animals, spending our hard earned travelling the country.

Our national football team always second fiddlle - no scrum 5 programs, mass media etc for them - although rugby if u win 4 tough games you win the world cup! Two wrongs don't make a right so I wouldn't lower myself to hate rugby.

Do I hate my country - No. So why would I hate those 15 who fought today. I got up to watch it and was happy for the win. I would be doing flick flacks if it was the footy mind you (I'd be there if it was the footy). Well done Wales -go for it

Chief that is one spot on post. Its the bigoted People i detest and i bet it it wasn't for them a lot that hate Rugby would support the National team. They and they alone are to blame for some's hatred of the Egg.

Post of the day. Some ppl on here are blinkered, should be ashamed to call themselves Welshmen. Then again, quite a few of then aint. Same people will celebrate in Wales next weekend (and hopefully the following weekend) I back MY country in everything, any sport and even Family f*cking Fortunes.
