Hudson on borrowed time

Thu Sep 29, 2011 7:28 am

Great win last night, Kiss and Gunnarson absolute warriors in the middle of the park, in 6 years Jonesy failed to find a boss man centre mid Malky found two in his first two weeks!

One main negative- Hudson!

Gone back to his form of a year ago last few games, so slow he goes backwards, never on his toes and don't half get outmuscled for a centre half. Lost count of the amount of times Lambert rolled him or held him off.
Watch their goal again he got done by Lambert and that was about the 7th or 8th time it happened.

Turner and Darcy coming in for him is only a matter of time surely?

Have to agree there mate , Ive never been a fan of Hudson's at all . Hopefully Turner could be the quicker and skillfull centre half we've been missing ...... Gerrard for captain ? :ayatollah: :D :ayatollah:

I think Hudson ges a lot of unnecessary stick and criticism. He's nowhere near as bad as he was at the start of his time here and deserves a break from all this now. Him and Gerard are growing into a good partnership

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Yeah up until 90 mins we had a clean sheet and so against Leicester give the guy a break :ayatollah:

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:05 am

he did fine but switched off for the goal, no other real errors

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:08 am

He had a nightmare. He was the only negative of the night for me. Must have given them at least 10 free kicks.
Dont think he won a header, I dont think Gerrard missed 1 :ayatollah:
Turner and Gerrard for me, give the guy a chance. I was surprised he didnt come on late last night not keinan

First choice CB in my opinion.

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:13 am

I would still say Gerrard would be the first to go. Yes hes committed and gets stuck in but he gives the ball away almost every f*cking time he gets it

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:18 am

Huds wasn't that bad... won most of the headers and considering lambert is huge in height, he done pretty well kicking the shit out of him i think that was Huds is problem last night he was more focused on kicking the shit out of players thats why there were all the free kicks and he switched off the goal. I agree we need a quicker CB though.

I think you will find Gerrard lost his marker for the goal  Hudson is our best centre half. :ayatollah:

My main issue with Hudson is him being the captain as he does not bring anything to this role. Last night Gerrard was commanding the defense, giving the team feedback, etc. I rarely see Hudson pushing other players on the park.

Finally he did have a poor game last night however unsure if Hudson is fully fit after Sunday's knock. He would of taken some easier training leading into the match which could of resulted hes performance last night.

what about the time where gerrard had talked himself into a yellow card and almost a red until hudson came and pulled him away !! like everyone is saying just because gerrard is a posionate player doesnt mean he would make a great captain.

also we dont know what hudson is like ebhind the scenes

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

thats my main criticsm of hudson,a lack of communication at the back, sometimes marshy and hudson play like theyve never met.I do rate him though and at the moment he really does deserve his spot in the team

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Look at what was in front on him

Kiss 300 mins of football in the last week
Cowie 300mins of football in the last week
Gunnarson 270mins of football in the last week

tiredness was bound to be an issue for us as time wore on.

Typical Cardiff fans though, win 2-1 against the champions with an understrength over tired side and someone has got to have a moan about something

Exactly, never happy unless we're moaning. It's no wonder the atmosphere isn't great considering the attitude some of our fans have.

Have to agree. I mentioned on another post how he strikes fear into me everytime the ball goes anywhere near him.
With Darcy and Turner waiting in the wings it certainly is only a matter of time. Darcy is so much better

Hudson probably wasn't fully fit but still put in a decent performance against a very physical opponent i thought he did well also made a number of timely interceptions. It's all about opinions but i think some of our fans just don't rate Hudson and would not offer him praise never mind how well he plays

Yes, after all Darcy's distribution was excellent, lulling Saints into a false sense of security by playing the ball straight to them.

Did you see DB's distribution last night? Or against Leicester in the Carling Cup?

I like DB and he is very important that he can play at full-back, CB and CM for us. But to say he's better at Hudson is stretching the truth. He might be better in a crunching tackle. But Hudson reads the game, distributes and leads better.

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Until Turner gets to full fitness I would like to see Darcy Blake at centre back, I just dont think he looks comfortable out on the left. Can Gerrard play there? And if he can will he continue to play the patented Mark Kennedy dink to the opposition?

I do agree that Gerrard would be a poor captain of he team. Am not sure we have a good leader/captain in the team but the lack of communication from Hudson always shocks me. MM seems to be our manager and captain from the sidelines which is a great skill from hes management style but would like to have someone on the field who has a wise head and good communication with the team

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

ffs, we should be lucky Hudson was playing last night, considering the injury he had on Sunday.

But I do believe he should not be captain for us, whenever he doesnt have the captains armband, he always performs better than usual.

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Interesting how Hudson has been captain and nearly every club and now under two managers at Cardiff.
But hey, what do they know

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Thu Sep 29, 2011 12:18 pm

Got to totally disagree with this thread, Hudson was our best defender ... Kev's distribution let him down again, Gerrard was the one who lost him man for the goal, and darcy it not cut out for being a left back, CB is his best position! but hudson did pretty well in the air against a big fella in lambert who scores goals for fun!

To be fair they were helped out big time though by the two CM's in Kiss & Gunnarsson some of the blocks they put and disupted southamptons play, they helped the defence greatly!

I thought all the defence played well last night. Limited their attacking threat to very few clear shots on goal.

Hudson our best defender for me. Underated.

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Thu Sep 29, 2011 4:01 pm

Hudson is our best CB and that's the end of it. He is a good leader/organiser at the back because when he was out at the end of last season, you could just see that we missed him in terms of organising the back 4.

Gerrard is a decent player but not as good as some make out. Darcy Blake is an extremely valuable player seeing as he's so versatile, but I'm afraid he's destined to be another John O'Shea in a way; always on the fringes despite his undoubted ability.

Re: Hudson on borrowed time

Thu Sep 29, 2011 4:14 pm

I dont think he was 100% fit to play last night, he committed some fouls in the first half that suggested he was frustrated at a lack of mobility.
The communication issue at the back was also strange, a couple of calls were ignored/not heard not just by Hudson.

IMO though it would be Gerrard that would lose his place before Hudson, but both deserve to start on Saturday.
