Right seriously

We need a few more players!!

(I know we were missing conway and earnie)

If we signed Miller, Goodwillie and Bellamy i would be more than happy but at the moment we're looking at top 10 max!

I know you will say it was only a friendly etc etc etc BUT we lacked so much quality is was scary.

Roll on the next couple of weeks i say.

i think that game showed we havent got any strength in depth & no real experienced players!! way to light weight!! earnie & conway in the mix with 3-4 new players i.e bellamy, miller, goodwillie & a solid expeirenced midfielder with perhaps a few loans!! we'll be ok then!!

lets keep our fingers crossed MM is flat out getting thoe deals signed!! :ayatollah:

i care because the fact we didnt trouble their keeper all game shows we need more quality in!! but the team are still gelling & i'm sure MM is flat out looking at bringing in more players!! it will all come together i'm sure!!

yep we need more players that's obvious.

lets just wait and see

good to see the youngsters have a bash.

mason was good tonight fair play

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:23 pm

I thought Gunarrson was excellent and Mason certainly showed some promise despite having no support from Parkin.

I think another 3-4 players, including Bellamy and we'll be OK :ayatollah:

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:23 pm

Joe Mason looked lost up front, Parkin tries really hard but as much as you want to love him, he just isnt a championship footballer. our strikers tonight chased nothing at all, looked sluggish and shy.....

i think malky was more concerned with our defence tonight. It pains me to say but naylor played well. impressed with gunnarson but taylor seemed to want the ball to come to him, didnt hunt it down and chase enough...long season ahead.... :ayatollah:

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:26 pm

please explain why you thought mason played well ?? his first touch was lacking, looked scared to challenge and didnt know when to use space. Granted he had a tough night upfront with the beast but the lad didnt exactly try and make his mark. Dont slate me for saying it but mason or chopra ? i know who i would have

Turned his marker 2 or 3 times and looked to get at the last defender. Trouble was that Parkin hardly gave him a pass all night nor looked to receive one because he was too slow to get into position.

As for comparing Chopra with Mason that's just not fair on an 18 year old kid. The real comparison should be made once MM has finished his transfer dealings.

If we are then comparing a frontline funded by the Chopra fee that contains Bellamy, Earnshaw, Miller and Mason then despite me being a Chopra fan I'd take the new strength in depth thanks :ayatollah:

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:51 pm

thought parkin was awful last season... hes got worse.... his touch, positioning , distribution and shooting was woeful...

thought whitts did well, mason was full of running and showed a couple of nice touches.. did look lost at times.. cowie was ok but not a wide right man...

gunnarsson seemed to love contact and challenges ..

def think we need to add that little bit of quality though, weak bench and we sort of didnt have any ideas or creativity.

thought taiwo was shocking also, lost ball, caught in possession , badly timed tackles, bullied off the ball too often, poor passing..

there were some positives there and remember celtics season starts this weekend and they are a few weeks ahead in game time and sharpness etc..

back four didnt look too bad, better when taylor went to left back ...

Typical Cardiff Fans want to get on the hate wagon straight away in a friendly

Mason looked good but naive due to his age. He was with Parkin and had to do 100% of the running against a more experienced back 4. What he did well, he did very well and i'll take that all day long rather than be someone that jumps on people's backs after one friendly.

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:07 pm

i really dont want to slate Mason as hes young and its early days but he didnt do anything tonight. His touch was poor and he struggled to hold up the ball, his running off the ball was also virtually non-existant, he looked completely lost. I honestly am struggling to see how anyone can say he played well tonight. He maybe one for the future but tonight wasnt his best game

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:20 pm

nobody is getting on the hate wagon....

just simple observations ... you could clearly see who is going to be a decent player and who is not...

parkin was and always will be awful... i dont hate the guy, i dont blame mm or anybody, just giving an opinionated performance review..

yes its early days, yes its a friendly...

we as paying fans are entitled to say who we think looked a decent player and who is like a donkey...

there were some stand out performances by certain players but then you would expect that from whitts etc as he is a class player..

we def need to add and im sure mm will.. i expect we will see another 4 or 5 faces by the time we play west ham..

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:33 pm

We need more players but I thought it was great to see so many youngsters playing, the fact is it was a friendly and there will be a different team almost playing WestHam on the 07 August however only sad thing tonight is Parking is not good enough plus Hudson & Naylors lack of pace was shown a few times but great to see a manager involved in the game.

Mackay must be giving time to build the mess this club was left in by Jones taking a massive gamble with the abuse of loans last season as was said by many people whoever takes Cardiff City on as manager will have a difficult job however if the supporters do not expect promotion like last season and a good building of players who have contracts with passion then we will get there.

But if you are expecting promotion this year I think you are going to be disapointed we have to give the new manager and players time to bond and build.

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:34 pm

Why do people get so worked up after 2 weeks of training and as pretty much a new team?

The team he sent out for the 1st half won't be the starting XI come 1st league game. He will bring more players in but we have to realise, Celtic are into 5 weeks of training and a few more games than us- Their league starts this weekend I think?

Things will be fine

Re: Right seriously

Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:34 pm

Totally disgusted to see a player of Parkin's size and lack of fitness on the pitch - looked like a fan had one a competition to play for his favourite team. Disgraceful. Why is he so fat? Where's the pride, where's the professionalism, where's the management, where's the dietician, where's the fitness coach. Jesus it makes me so mad.

Heard Keinan was spotted going for a take-away

This is serious sport - to play in the EPL players need to be sacrificing everything in life - or else they will not make it. Need to take a leaf out of athletes and top boxers' books. Unfortunaltey too many act like they are still fans - i.e. want a pint and a pie and a fag - can't be done

Thought City passed the ball well in first 10 mins, but then went off boil - got to stop this long ball nonsense. Cowie tried to make himself available most of the time, but the rest didn't - you must always have a player withn 10 yards of you every time to pass to. Its not rocket science - just takes fitness, effort and thought - unfortunatley most footballers are thick as s***, so it is difficult.

Here end my rant

Apart from that - makings of a decent side - need a few tweaks - Earnie possibly would have scored the chance that Parkin screwed.

the more we care the more it hurts

and breathe........................

Re: Right seriously

The def & mid didnt look to bad at all they just couldnt get forward because parkin is a donkey upfront.

As soon as they past it to him he lost it or give away a freekick and we had the win the ball back & start all over again & again & again & again.

imo we need another 2 striker, 3 midfield players and a bus ticket for parkin ;)

Also gutted i didnt see earnie and conway but all the new signings looked great but for the me the old faithful super kev is in a class of his own that 1. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

+1 more centre back in my opinion

i like Hudson, but i dont think Keinan, Gyepes or even Gerrard are up to it im sorry to say

hope Gerrard proves me wrong though, i know he will give 100% to the cause :ayatollah:

Friendlies are just training games. I try not to watch too many of them as they really give us a false impression. Spurs lost to the Kaiser Chiefs recently who are shit yet Spurs will be challenging for Europe next season and have a superb squad. We lost to one of the best teams in Scotland 1-0. In my opinion it is no big deal.

What really pisses me off is that people can be all doom and gloom before the season even starts despite signing a few new squad members and already in 7th place on the league table due to alphabetical order. One more point and we will be top of the league. 'Ave it!

Re: Right seriously

Thu Jul 21, 2011 1:19 am

We did not play well at all.but what can you expect half of these guys have not played together. Its a new team that clearly have to get used to each other, and celtic were yards faster to the ball.
Malky must be given time and it will all come right. When we get some skill up front with Earnie,Miller and hopefully Bellamy we will be a different team.

Re: Right seriously

Thu Jul 21, 2011 7:07 am

t's a friendly, a learning curve and time for tyhe players to get to know each other. There are quite a few new players and to lose 1-0 in a non-competitive match to a team who are 3 days away frpom the start of the season is no disgrace.

Bellamy's not coming, it's time to face up to this fact and stop sayiong that we need him and 2 more strikers. Christ! How many strikers do we need??? I'd say offload Parkin, get Miller and Goodwillie in then we will have 4 strikers, which is the best balance to have. If we have Bellamy, we will have 5, 6 if we keep Parkin, which will be a stupid amount, so let's get real about this. We need a couple of midfielders as our priority at the moment

Re: Right seriously

Dave Jones gone but still the same old shit from the fans.

f**k sake 2 weeks of training, 2nd friendly, and people are moaning about players touch and fitness

Get a grip and get behind the lads for f**k sake.

Agreed. If there's moaning on here after a narrow friendly defeat, what's it going to be like when things go badly in the season proper? No pressure, eh, Malky?

Re: Right seriously

Thu Jul 21, 2011 7:25 am

I think you will find this year a better atmosphere now Jones has gone, and that the team will step up to the mark.
Malkey is a shrewd character and will get us there, but we must offload the likes of Parkin and Naylor if we are to bring in new quality blood. They are seriously not championship players, not even to bolster the squad. :ayatollah:

Re: Right seriously

Thu Jul 21, 2011 7:27 am

People are allowed to express their opinions regardless of it being a friendly match or not.

Unless things start to go wrong, then it will be back to the same old moaning and the same old attitude to the management and coaching staff

Re: Right seriously

Thu Jul 21, 2011 7:57 am

Yes and they have every right to moan or give their opinions.Nobody should take last nights game too seriously BUT it Did show we lacked a LOT and some players are just not good enough this year next year or any year

Re: Right seriously

Thu Jul 21, 2011 8:13 am

If you look at how many people have gone and come in, new manager with new tactics for the new and old players to learn. If we played Barnet or Yeovil Town i except us to struggle.

If people think we will be comming out the first game of the season playing great footy they will prob have a shock, its going to be 2-6 months i feel untill we start to become solid.

I do hope there are times were we show our potential before that thou ;)
