I used to take it round the Gower coast which is spectacular when you see it from seaward, used to to go in at mumbles, caswell, or oxwich then paddle around the other beaches/coves. Used to go down aberavon as well but not too exciting.
Jetskiers and sunday motorboaters are a real fuckin nuisance though. Had some close calls.

And all depends on what you want do and were you plan on going.
If is just coastal kayaking you plan on doing then a cheep sit on top is fine, but if like me you the like to the faster ( and better)type of kayaking then a fully cock pitted one is the way to go.
I usually go on the taff from behind hawthorn school all the way down to Tongwynlas for a nice little trip but iv been most places- Brecon, Ogmore ,Monmouth.
The white water center down the bay is great it £10 all day if youve got all you own rig ie - kayak, paddle, spraydeck, wetsuite, helmert. and about £50 to rent all theirs.
