If people look at the echo today Annis, Terry Phillips has noted the last 5 run ins for the last 9 games.I have to be honest and apart from last season it is grim reading and doesn't give us much hope :(
That is why i stand by my decision and say change manager now :ayatollah:

Bluebirds need to buck trend with fast finish
by Terry Phillips, South Wales Echo
Mar 16 2011

But if Cardiff City are to pass the post in the race for automatic promotion then Dave Jones must buck the trend of his five previous seasons at the Bluebirds.

Look at the stats of the last nine games – the crucial phase of the Championship season we are entering now – and it’s a sad fact that Cardiff have rarely been at the races.

Why that is the case remains an unexplained conundrum?

In fact, City have averaged a fraction more than one point per game over the last nine games of a season since Jones was appointed in 2005.

If that awful record is repeated this season, then Cardiff will miss out on the play-offs, let alone automatic promotion.

One stats company predict, on current form, that City will finish on 73 points – and that’s one below the average for finishing in sixth place since the turn of the Millennium.

The Bluebirds could scrape into the play-offs with 73 points – 11 more than they have now – but the average final total suggests City will need 20-plus from the remaining nine games to book automatic promotion.

BluebirdsBanter.co.uk - Cardiff City: where do we go from here? - click to read our latest post

How Jones needs to turn the tide of history of his Bluebirds reign is revealed when you study City’s shocking run-in record.

In his first season in charge, 2005-06, City managed only one win in their last nine.

Incredibly, it was even worse the following campaign after they had stormed to the top by Christmas.

City failed to win any of their last nine and lost seven of them as they slumped to another mid-table finish.

There was an improvement at the end of the 2007-08 campaign – with four wins and three draws from the last nine games – but by then the Cardiff squad were playing for FA Cup final places at Wembley.

Twelve months on and Cardiff put together a three-game winning run that had seemingly nailed down a play-off spot.

But then came that extraordinary collapse sparked by a 6-0 thrashing at Preston.

Only one point was picked up from the last 12 and City missed out on the play-offs by a single goal – and to Preston of all teams.

Last season – Jones’ fifth at the helm – saw Cardiff enjoy their best finish under him, winning five of their last nine and losing only once – a rather meaningless final game at Derby.

It looked as if Jones had cast aside the accusations that his side were bottlers once and all.

But, having seen off Leicester on penalties in the play-off semi-final, Jones was then outfoxed by Blackpool counterpart Ian Holloway at Wembley to end the Premier League dream.

Jones made much of Cardiff bouncing back from that Wembley heartbreak to start this season well, though given the investment in the squad from the Malaysian owners any other outcome would have been unforgivable.

But now it’s the finish that counts and Cardiff emulating last season’s dash to the line rather than the crawl of previous campaigns.

Cardiff’s Far East directors – including chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee and major investor Vincent Tan – are desperate to see the Bluebirds playing Premier League football next season.

The Malaysians have bankrolled City heavily – note their role in the Craig Bellamy transfer alone – financed heavily and want a return on their investment.

That will only come in making the top flight and playing the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool on a regular basis.

Over the last nine games Cardiff must be a team rather than the group of individuals they have looked like this season.

They must battle, give everything in the cause and pick up the points needed to chase down the big prize.

Judging by the aftermath of the 2-2 home draw with Barnsley on Sunday – when Jones kept his players in the dressing room for more than an hour – strong words have already been spoken.

“It’s best to get these things out of the way immediately,” said Jones later.

“Everybody can have their say. You may regret something that was said later, but at least it’s off your chest.”

Now it’s onto Millwall on Saturday – and you get the feeling that Jones really is heading for the lions’ den as the season’s climax approaches.

How Jones needs the sort of run his Wolves team produced at the back end of 2002-03 when a 12-game unbeaten record eventually saw promotion clinched to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Anything else and Jones runs the very real risk of being unseated at Cardiff City.

One thing i have noticed on here is that if you have a pro DJ opinion/ thread then those who who support that opinion/ thread are left to debate that without any issue or abuse etc directed towards them.

However if you have an anti DJ thread or opinion then those who appose your thoughts are ready to jump on your back, and then the abuse comes out of the woodwork.

Based on my own experiences of course, but it just maybe the case that those who are anti DJ are able to rationalise their argument and are comfortable with it. However in contrast the DJ supporters are those fearful of change, and abuse is then derived from their frustration in knowing that deep down DJ needs to be removed - and that time is now.

All my opinions of course...I'm sure there will some who take this personally though unfortunately :D

Annis we all know you are a big sam fan but i truley belive if sam were still in charge we would have gone bust a long time ago.We all need to give Dave jones the support, respect and integrity the man deserves. Give him till the end of the season and if he doesnt get us up then call in the dogs.Untill then lets stop the silly on line poles and give dave ,the players and all asociated with our great club the support they need.I am the same as every other supporter and want what i think is the best for our club but i dont think getting rid of Dave Jones is what we need right now. But thats only my humble opinion.

Dave jones knows what he's doing. We are in our bad run now. As soon as we get out of it , watch us fly. I believe we are going to peak at the right time fo a change

You mean the bad run we have at the end of every season?

If Jones knew how to get out of bad runs, then we'd have got out of our 13 match abysmal run a lot quicker, eh?

Jones couldn't peak if he swallowed a million viagra!

This is how I have it, but I still think there will be more L to lower teams than people expect.

QPR (W - Sheff Utd, Scunthorpe, Hull & Leeds (D - Doncaster, Barnsley & Derby) (L - Cardiff)
Norwich (W - Scunthorpe, Derby, Coventry) (D - Swansea, Forest, Ipswich & Portsmouth) (L - Hull &Watford)
Swansea (W - Preston, Hull, Ipswich, Sheff Utd)(D - Forest, Norwich. & Millwall) (L - Burnley & Portsmouth)
Leeds (W - Forest, Milwall, Derby, Palace) (D - Reading & Burnley) (L - Sheff Utd, Watford & QPR)
Forest (W - Reading, Burnley, Leicester, Bristol C, Scunthorpe) (D - Swansea, Norwich & Palace) (L - Leeds)
BLUEBIRDS (W - Derby, Doncaster, Portsmouth, QPR, Boro) (D - Sheff Utd, Preston) (L - Millwall & Burnley)

This would leave

1 QPR 88
2 Cardiff 79 (Depending on goal Diff!)
3 Norwich 79
4 Swansea 78
5 Nott'm Forest 78
6 Leeds 75

Our expectation is huge , Jones has improved every season - BUT this season we must go up .

we now have the best squad Cardiff have ever had , including the Dave bennett era BUT we cant blame Jones for everything , yes he is the manager but he does not go out on the pitch and play every week , players need to be counted and I think we have trouble within our "glamour " star squad that does not help.

Having said this , if we do not go up then its timeto thank DJ and move on to a motivational manager .

If we do go up DJ will be hounded out by us fans as he wont reach our expectation once in the Prem , just a gut feeling

Whilst he is here we need to support him and his team

Lets keep the faith , support the team , support DJ

Of course you have an opinion Annis but you have had it in for him ever since he got rid of your mate Warren Feeney and it always comes across as personal. My feelings on getting rid of DJ now is that what quality manager would come to a club that would sack its manager who are 4 points off an automatic spot, no manager worth his salt would come to CCFC. As far as your touting of Terry Burton, well this is the man who coaches and goes through tactics with the player. To me he is just as bad as Dave Jones, we have to ride out the storm and whatever happens next season I honestly believe Dave Jones will not be here.

As you know the players read this board, do you think its good for their moral as a team........?
