" TERRY BURTON "

Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:48 am

I just watched the Terry Burton post match interview from yesterday's game & I must say he comes across as a lovely fella but more importantly he knows his stuff. Even his demeanour & attitude towards the press is refreshingly positive compared to DJ who comes across as a rather smug individual who is always on the defensive. (Personal opinion)

I don't want to start a debate about DJ as I'm sure you are sick of it BUT what I will ask is IF Terry Burton was number 1 would you have done / be doing better than you are currently?

He has very good pedigree & is a football man through & through & like I say seems to have a good knack of how to deal with the press which is always a good thing, 1 less pressure than when they are on your back.

He should be our manager. I said that at the start of the season.

Some people will say he's only a number 2, I disagree.

Felt he did a good job at Wimbledon when they had their franchise problem. I just feel it would be a better club alround if he was in charge.

If we do not make it up this season Terry Burton should be 1st choice to be number 1.

Re: TERRY BURTON

I have a vague recollection of him saying in the past that he prefers the coaching side of things and has no wish to be a manager.

Anyone pick up the comment in the paper over the 'offside' goal from him that he thinks the may be a conspiracy against us :o

He's an excellent coach, but we need to sort out our corners, once again absolutely shocking yesterday. Ball far too near the keeper every single time.

i cant agree with that, he would be way out of his depth dont forget its his job to sort tactics in training free kicks corners etc atacking and defending them, we dont look to clever in either department so i hope we dont promote him to manager just my honest opinion.

Oh right that's fair enough. I think he would be good for someone.

I know him personally and see him every day at the school when I pick my children up and he picks his grandchildren up, he lives less than 4 mins from my house.
A Very nice person,Prob to nice and lets DJ get away with murder,as not tough enough, has tried to speak out in the past but totally shot down and belittled by DJ infront of the team after the Jacks home game.

Wow that is terrible actually. As you say probably that bit to nice. No danger of anyone ever saying that about DJ

His interview is good and comes across as nice guy and seemed really disapointed about losing no excuses just we were unlucky and I totally agree with him about officials.

No chance, he's just a number two, when DJ goes eventually, I would want a more experienced manager....

Question - What role does he play and what role does DJ play - do they both take training ? Tactics ? Free kick practise etc etc Or does Terry take more of the training than DJ ??

could you please explain :how can a demeanour attitude towards the press be refreshingly positive ?????????????in what context ????

i like terry burton, lovely bloke but under him we would not be doing any better! No way in hell! DJ has his faults and im one of his biggest critics but in the great scheme of things he's not a bad manager, we are 3rd one point behind second! Some of the things DJ does drives me wild but he's better than most! If the opportunity came to replace dj with someone better i.e. Roy Hodgson, Sam Allardyce etc then im all for it but not with someone like terry burton!

Positive as in doesn't seem to shirk questions, or give pathetic excuses like DJ has many times after a loss, seems to come across as fair & easy to talk to again unlike Jones who has a face like a slapped arse most of the time & an attitude towards the press that will only go against him over time.

He may be only good as a coach or again an extension of DJ himself but to me I think he would do well for someone be it Cardiff or not.

Terry is a great bloke and a football man thru and thru, his pleasure comes from working on the training ground and he chooses to be a coach rather than a manager because that is what he likes doing, a managers jobs is almost like an accountant come psychologist come media expert, football some times is the smallest part.

He has had dozens of approaches to manage clubs, he stays with us thru choice not lack of managerial opportunity's. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think those who criticise him need to take a look at his track record at Arsenal, Wimbledon and Watford and the players he developed (as well as here), its a phenomenal record.
