Watched most of the Hamilton v Celtic game on sky last night.
Firstly how poor a standard is the SPL, 2 of the Hamilton players actually had beer bellies. It was like a parks game at times. Even when Hamilton were down to 9 men at the end, Celtic needed a dodgy last minute penalty to get a draw.
Joe spent most of the match walking about in the midfield, looking completely disinterested, passing the ball sideways or backwoods. He was eventually substituted with about 15 mins left after contributing absolutely nothing to the game.
I know he doesnt play for us any longer, but I have to say its sad that one of our own, who was just about the best midfielder in championship 3 years ago now looks a shadow of his former self. Luckily it looks like we have saved ourselves a fortune in wages by not resigning him.
Anybody on here actually know Joe or have any ideas what is behind his complete loss of form ???

Ruined by Toshack in my opinion - he just can;t seem to get out of the defensive mind set that he was asked to take on for Wales.

Probably the baby keeping him up all night!
Thu Jan 13, 2011 7:41 pm
He's done well all season, one bad game means he's shit?
Thu Jan 13, 2011 7:42 pm

llantrisant, only going on what I saw last night and what I have been told.
On what you have seen, do you think he would have made our team any better this year bearing in mind how much a week it would have cost us??
Thu Jan 13, 2011 7:54 pm
Yeah i know mate sorry if i sounded like i was having ago, Noo He'd be just as good as drinkwater/Olofinjana in my view!

My brother is a big Celtic fan(poor lad) and he hasn't been impressed. He even called it early doors that he would be subbed and who would replace him.
Hamilton are shit, Celtic are shit and the SPL is shit. I've been to watch Aberdeen a few times and I really grudge paying £22 for it, but I need my football fix. So if anyone knows Josh Magennis, have a word and get me some tickets

But hey, he's still picking up £28,000 a week for doing it.
Thu Jan 13, 2011 8:39 pm
the celtic fans I know rate him and want him in midfield ahead of the likes of scott brown
your opinion would probably be different if you watched the old firm derby the other week
Thu Jan 13, 2011 8:54 pm
He's been nothing more than average since the FA Cup semi final.
Thu Jan 13, 2011 9:01 pm
He was always average, anyone who thought any diffrent was mad! hence only celtic took the gamble on him

Yeah, but Scott Brown is shit too.
I watched the OF game and nobody impressed me and I cringed when the commentator made a remark about Ledley's world class pass that created the goal. It would have been regarded as a hoof for a Sam Allardyce team.

One of the reasons he signed for celtic, in his words was, "to play in front of 60,000 fans every week" well he,s done that only once this season (at home against rangers) last night there were 5,000 there!!!!

I've seen every Celtic match this season and it seems to me that his game has gone backwards. He has lost 2 yards of the little pace that he had, has little desire to get forward, and only very rarely makes a forward pass. He also makes few tackles because he's not sharp enough to get to his man. Perhaps playing alongside McPhail has had an effect on him! He seems to be playing the 'holding' role....whether this is intentional or just because he cant get up and down the pitch anymore I'm not sure. He does spend an awful lot of his time just running around in circles chasing. It also looks like his teammates are reluctant to give him the ball at times. I was a fan of Joe when he was at Cardiff but the way he is playing for Celtic at the moment, he would only be on the bench for us, in my opinion...

it was there to see before, but the ledders bummers will be on saying your wrong dispite you watching all the celtic games
Fri Jan 14, 2011 9:24 am
it was certainly there to see after he had his hips done.
He divides opinion up here just as much as he does in Cardiff. If Celtic fans were asked to name their 1st choice team, he would probably be in 50% of them. Thats not bad considering they have 4 or 5 other options. Although probably not what they would expect from someone on his wages....
