Dennis Wise

Sun Dec 19, 2010 12:42 pm

He's just been on Goals on Sunday on SKY Sports 1 hinting that he wants to get back into football. For a young manager his record is pretty impressive...

Millwall - led them to the 2003 FA Cup Final.
Swindon - led them to 2nd in the division before leaving for Leeds.
Leeds - despite a 15 point punishment guided them to the top of the division before leaving for the Newcastle job.

Would you want him as manager even though his commitment might be questioned?

Better Record than DJ and in just 3 years.

Millwall - led them to the 2003 FA Cup Final.
Swindon - led them to 2nd in the division before leaving for Leeds.
Leeds - despite a 15 point punishment guided them to the top of the division before leaving for the Newcastle job.

Ive never liked Wise as a player or manager, he clearly had his moments.

After the death of Sir Bobby Robson, The Sun's Bob Harris wrote how Robson told him: "My biggest disappointment was Dennis Wise, a director of football who was hardly seen at the ground, and who brought in players who were neither suitable, nor right, for Newcastle United. I forgive most people, but I am not sure I can forgive Wise for what he did to my club."

I trust Sir Bobby as a judge of character

On Goals on Sunday Wise said 'the players started off disliking me but over time they began to change and like me... which was interesting!'. I'm not the lad's biggest fan but he's not a bad manager given his track record. The Director of Football job at Newcastle was ridiculous. He probably couldn't believe his luck when he was given that role!

No way Annis, only good when he had Gus Poyet behind him, but there lies the answer to the next City Manager!
