I can see why some people would be offended but aslong as everyone sees the joke for what it is, a joke....I don't see the problem
It does sound awful but watching the likes of Frankie Boyle tell these sick jokes.....I do laugh. It doesn't mean that I make fun of people more unfortunate than me on a daily basis and that I don't feel sympathy for them.

Is that funny or sick? I believe it is sick because it is direct ridicule of an individual’s suffering. The same principle has to exist when it comes to making fun of someone who is disabled and ridiculing them for their disability.
However, if the ridicule has nothing to do with disability, just say they are ribbed for their choice of football team, then yes they can be treated the same as anyone else.

My dear loving Mam who is also no longer with me was actually disabled. Well the arthritas that she suffered with for 30 years made her disabled and eventually took her. So for me the answer is a definate NO.
However, there is a saying and this came from one of the great comedians ever, Robin Williams. His explanation of comedy is tragedy plus time. Today its not funny but it could be later on.

I'm sorry I just don't see how you can laugh at jokes about returning soldiers have had limbs blown off, I could never see that as just a joke.
These are extremely brave young men who have sufferred terrible injuries that will affect them for the rest of their lives and only the most cowardly would make fun of them and other serverly disabled people.

i went to see jimmy carr last week, he told alot of jokes mainly sick ones, but i laughed along with about 3000 other poeple. i knew what i was going to see, and i paid to see it.
on the other hand if i saw someone going into a pub and bullying a disabled person id feel like punching them.
but im pretty sure jimmy carr for example wouldnt wank into a pub see someone with a disabliltity and think aahh il go and take the piss out of him. im sure he is a very down to earth friendly family man. who makes a living telling jokes along with all other comedians.
if all comedians walked on and told jokes about chickens crossing the road, who'd laugh apart from me![]()
its all about situation and context.
