WOW!! That surprises me....

Glad to say I'm in the 500 but despite missing very few games since the late 70's (I started in '68) I didn't have a regular season ticket until the early 90's wholly due to the nature of my work, which meant I worked many weekends....

Respect to the 70....

If we get to the promotion to the premier league this year the 10 who have had a season ticket every year since the seventys should get a free season ticket in honour of their loyalty to the club through the good and the bad days of being a bluebird :ayatollah:

according to Julian Jenkins it is actually 357 in 2000...that information was made possible by new hardware/softwear that is being put into place shortly at the ticket office...this will then generate a lot more useful stats that will assist the club in a number of ways.

Once installed the club have promised to do a feature on the rise in season ticket holders in the club which should be interesting also the areas fans come from...this may also have changed over the years or at least increased or decreased in certain areas.

Before 2000 it is difficult for the club to collate records but they will have some idea of old season ticket numbers from memory like the 70 that Annis mentioned.

The real fact is that there was no great desire in those days to get a season ticket, most fans cherry picked games and went when they could knowing that with crowds less than 10,000 and often less than 5,000 there was never any fear of a sell out....it was just pay on the day in them days...no advance sales or very little, fans just turned up and paid to get in very few had season tickets or actually needed one.

The new computor equipment will show something like this

2000-2001 Season ticket holders 357 average home gate 7,692
2001-2002 ST holders 3,000 odd average home gate 12,522
2002-2003 st holders 4,000 plus average home gate 13,049
2003-2004 st holders 5,000 plus average home gate 15,569

etc etc etc

The above is just guess work but as you can see our season ticket holders would have increased every year and now stands at over 17,000 which is amazing when you consider that in 1986-87 our average home gate for the season was 2,856 and even as recent as 1997-98 was as low as 3,574...a point of interest is that our highest ever home average attendance for a whole season was 37,937 at Ninian Park back in 1952-53.

source mainly the official site.

That is truely amazing. Big respect to those who have held a season ticket since the 1970's and I tip my hat to those who have held one for the past 10 years or so.

Like Corky said I was one of those who used to cherry pick games until I got my first season ticket in 2005 after the Black Thursday/Friday crisis.

Glad to say I'm one of the 500, and for a long time before 2000 - I'm not one of the 70 though. But I did get my first S/T in the 70's - also had an identity card in the 70's lol.

I've only had a season ticket for about 4 years but had one for a few years in the 90's before having to move to Swindon with work and working most Saturdays it wasn't worth having one. I have got a season ticket book from 61-62 my great uncle gave me, he still goes but only a couple of times a season now due to money being a bit tight in his retirement.
