Yousef Salech injury latest

The striker looks unlikely to feature against Watford on Tuesday night.

Speaking about Salech’s availability for the next game after the Blackburn defeat, Brian Barry-Murphy said:

“I’m not sure.

“He hasn’t trained with us yet, so his shoulder’s being assessed.

“Tuesday may come too soon, I suspect.”

Callum Robinson deputised for Salech and scored Cardiff’s only goal in the 2-1 defeat.

Brian Barry-Murphy suspects Tuesday’s clash against Watford will come too soon for the return of Yousef Salech.

The striker is yet to train since damaging his shoulder against Charlton Athletic.

If he hasn't even started training yet he may well be out for a while yet.

That's a worry given his previous injury last season as he seems to not be the player he was even before this new injury.

Who do you think we should play up front? Robinson was ineffective except for the goal that my 84 year old mother could have scored it was that easy for him.

Sadly Moylan can't do everything himself but maybe give him a go up top?

We need rubin back to free up moylan for the false 9 if salech is out for a bit

Heas going to be out for at least 3 more games? If hes already out for tues it means its not good and not likely to ne ready in a week! Moylan should play upfront it fits in better with way we play and we are at home

No doubt it's bad news he won't play on Tuesday.

But I don't think it'll be a long term injury, it's not as serious as the one he got last season.

Could be back for next weekend.

I think the problem is that fans think they a right to know everything when they don't.

If he said "Salech may be fit for Tuesday" and he doesn't then people are disappointed when he doesn't play. So it's better to make it sound like he's definitely out, if he does then play then it's a bonus.

All the things I said and many others about not getting a replacement for salec is proving a point, also having another striker as an alternative,
rellying on Robinson is not the answer in the gruelling championship.

Robinson scored yesterday. Your point has not been proven.

Just like we didn't need to sign a striker in January, as we still got promoted.

Yes i was waiting for someone to pipe up a out Robinson scoring yesterday moylan laid it on a plate for him,did he do anything else,?
Bbm hardly played him last season why ? His legs have gone and if you think he is a good replacement for salec, he could not play 2 games a week.
Kellyman was the man that replaced salec last season in our promotion Robinson did not feature much apart from clapping on the side of the pitch.

What about when Salech missed a tap in the other week?

Robinson had one good chance and took it.

I'm glad we didn't sign another striker because it would be a panic signing, that's how you end up with the likes of Etete.

Salec missed a tap in more reason to have an alternative striker, Robinson had 1 good chance yes 1 chance that's why he was taken off ,
we could have signed a real quality striker why would we have to panic buy when we had 4 months?

Id really like us to take a look at bim pepple from Plymouth only 23 quite a big physical target man 24 goals in 44 appearances and would cost less than Bristol paid for tolaj , we have to get someone to compete with salech or cover when hes injured if its going to be a regular occurrence

If the available players didn't fit the right profile then no point signing them, better to go with what we have.

Re: Yousef Salech injury latest The striker looks

Too say no players fit our profile is complete bullshit lets be honest, it's obviously got to do with no real funds available to sign any quality and bbm didn't want to be lumbered with deadwood

Re: Yousef Salech injury latest The striker looks

Mon Oct 12, 2026 9:02 am

The problem Robinson had was we tried to play him like we do salech. When our midfield was being crowded out we had no way to get the ball down and on the floor to him. We needed to change the approach., He had one chance and took it. There is no point complaining about what Robbo cant do. We know what his strengths are so we need to adapt the play to him. He may have lost a yard of pace but he knows where the net is,.

This is what you get when you don't sign players to cover injuries in the transfer window.

But what if what we have are not good enough? (I know that you believe they are)

Seems like it's almost impossible to find players with "the right profile" as we've had three transfer windows now where only a handful of players with the right profile have been recruited.

We seem to be fishing in a tiny pool and when you take into account that some of those with the right profile will be too expensive, some won't be interested in Cardiff like the Norwegian lad perhaps it's no wonder the squad is so thin on the ground.

Perhaps the right profile needs to be tweaked just slightly in January as I cannot believe there are not numerous players who would improve our squad without ruining the current dynamic.

Maybe the problem is bbm wants a player to strictly play his way and that would mean a very very small pool of suitable players to try and sighn.. he made it quite clear if cant get them then no one else will do regardless of how good they are! I'm not really sure why he plays salech as we never play to his strengths yes put millions of balls in middle with crosses but only 1 or 2 are any good for him in particular what about the rest of the time? Its spent fighting 2 or 3 defenders!....... its easy to see why he couldn't or didn't want to bring in a striker when we got 3 players who are forwards (but not central striker) if salech is injured looking at whats happened defence and midfield seems to be our weak point. We had great chance to build on last season and aim for top 8 but through his philosophy and tans questionable support that won't happen such a shame really.

Fair argument about the quality of players we have. My argument that we don't have a weak squad is partly due to the fact we've outplayed everyone at home (apart from maybe Wrexham). Would I have liked us to have signed a striker? Of course, but only if it added some quality. The last thing we needed is another Etete.

I've said it before but I just don't believe the lack of signings is because the manager wasn't backed. It may well be that, but I believe that it's the manager knowing what he wants and preferring nobody instead of people he doesn't want.

You say the profile of player could change but that can't be at the expense of changing the style of play. The style has to stay like this. The manager pointed out when he was appointed that "we stick to this style because when things don't go our way then we have the style as a point of reference".

What I don't believe in is saying these players aren't good enough and we're destined for relegation after nine games. We're not even in the relegation zone. It's still so early - I highly doubt Swansea will win the league or that Burnley will be relegated.
