'I'm not naïve' - A Dejected looking Barry-Murphy said.

His face said it all

Barry-Murphy admits Cardiff City must start winning quickly

The Bluebirds remain without a victory after seven Championship matches following a late defeat at Bolton and with tougher games to come he knows they need this sorted as soon as possible.

BBM:

"I'm not naive; I know that we have to win games and do it quickly. The following we have at every single game is incredible. I've never felt more motivated to give them a team that they feel proud to follow."

"To be perfectly honest we'd have been disappointed to be talking about a draw, so to be talking after a defeat is very hard on the players and our supporters.”

"I felt in the first half we looked dangerous without being at our best, I asked for a lot in the second half and they put that into practice. We created enough chances to win many games but today we didn't take them.”

"If we'd have drawn 0-0 we'd have been disappointed so to lose it is even more so.”

“This can not continue, I am not naive at alI, I know we need to start winning.”

“We don’t want to be involved in a relegation battle as our aim is the top half of the championship.”

You could try the youth, pace, and raw naivety of Scanlon and Kpakio from the start instead of Willock and Tanner.

If you thought the squad didnt need adding too then you are certainly naive.

Going into games with no options off the bench is costing us.

Not being able to rotate players who are tired or out of form is costing us.

I said last week the first win is so important as it just gets harder and harder the longer it goes onand it’s in everybody’s head.
Similar to Salech scoring.
It will come and I’m not as worried as some.
On to Charlton HUGE!!!

You make a good point . Our wingers have been dreadful for all our games. Let's change .

Let's be real the starting 11 was the best available you can make an argument for Ashford but your grasping at straws after that, he's getting the maximum out of a very weak squad

It's all been a contradiction from before start of season! There's only one way yo dart it out and ghat is yo get another proven or experienced striker who can either replace salech as sub or starting or play alongside him? Today was a clear opportunity to play salech and another uptop together but he didn't he chose to keep status quo a lone striker! It's crazy especially when so on top he could afford to be brave and positive but kept to type

I dont believe we have the central midfielders to play 2 in there. I think it would leave us too open.

To do these kinds of roles, you need an almost god-like sense of self-belief.

I honestly believe BBM and the club thought the stats from last season's team pointed to us being a mid-table championship club. It's whether you consider the loss of Wintle and Kellyman with Moylan and Beliek equal? So we only had to improve a few areas if those players became available. He won't panic buy

I think he is willing to give "his" players a chance to prove they are good enough, and he is good enough to improve them into championship players

I think we only have to be better than 3 clubs and we'll do that

I think Moylan is better than Kellyman BUT Kellyman was able to play anywhere across the front 4.

Bielik and Wintle you can compare, losing Wintle has left us short in midfield.

Would Bielik have been signed if we had all centre backs available is anyone's guess. Id like to see him or maybe Lawlor in the 6 role when the other centre backs are fit.

Its the squad he cannot add to, so we are snookered ,he has the same players to try and get a song out of.
He brought turnbull on today he did not change the game in anyway might as well have thrown one of those keepers on,
you need impact players or quality to bring in and we have neither.

Hang on
We are only 6 points off the playoffs

We can’t kid ourselves, this is a very weak squad and we will be in a relegation fight, no doubt about it. I think we’ll be just about ok though. The very thing that could relegate us though is a knee jerk reaction by the board if they sack BBM.

Thought willock done OK..tanner can't pass wind .. id give kpakio a chance out there ..pacy but defence is iffy

Well I think your naive , squad needed strengthening 4 of the named 9 subs only one of those would have been used in a emergency ( one of the two keepers )

BBM is completely out of his depth.

He’s getting out coached already and it’s only been seven games.

That's a bit like saying after 5m of a 100m sprint, I am only 4m behind Usain Bolt.

I’m a bit confused.

Where has he said he didn’t think the squad needed adding too?

As far as I can see he tried to bring players in. This has been well documented.

Whether that’s his fault or Tans fault it didn’t happen is another matter.

He's certainly not adjusting to each opposition team as he prepares for each game and he's certainly not changing anything during the game based on what he's seeing in front of his eyes.

Even when it makes a sub, the incoming player seems to just repeat the role of outgoing one - mistakes included.

Not a problem in L1, totally unfeasible in the Championship.

He got lucky last season, there standard in League One wasn’t great.

We all know Nathan Jones will have Charlton right up for it next weekend. Could be toxic.

Something to think about: we've only deservedly lost two games so far this season. Two sub-par performances, especially with the number of injuries we've had, isn't something I'm overly concerned about.

Norwich are 11th and have already lost four games.

If we'd simply won the games where we battered the opposition and deserved all three points, we'd be sitting 7th with 11 points. That's how fine the margins are at this stage of the season.

For me, 10 games is when we can start taking the league table a bit more seriously. Right now, it's still far too early.

Charlton definitely won't be as open as Stoke or Sheffield United. I'd expect something much closer to the Lincoln game, with them making it difficult for us to break them down.

It'll be a tough game, but I'm sure the players will give absolutely everything to get that first win.

There's a long way to go yet.

Im also confused.

He said we needed players. We went on to sign nobody after saying this.

Hes also said he was fully backed by the board.

I certainly dont blame him for this run, but hes put the pressure on himself by sticking up for the board.

This squad isn't built for anything but technical football, there isn't a plan B because Tan hasn't paid for one. Who could come off the bench to change the game, we had Ashford the rest aren't good enough. The bloke has performed miracles. I really like Nathan Jones but if you think bringing someone like him in here and being more tough to break down would work I think your crackers, this team isn't a physical get stuck in team we'd be getting crucified playing any other way than we are now with the team we've got. Blame the owner simple as that

I said at the time, if Bolton or Stockport had put any sort off run together, we would have been cacking it.

Nathan is as mad as a box of frogs.

He will be super amped up next week - there will be fireworks without a doubt.

Perhaps he is naive.

Naive to think that he'd actually be backed to get in the players he wanted, despite what Tan may have said during his jollies in Malaysia.
