OFFICIAL " KRYSTIAN BIELIK SIGNS FOR CARDIFF CITY "

Wed Aug 26, 2026 4:33 pm

Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to welcome Krystian Bielik to the Welsh capital.

The Poland international joins the Bluebirds on a three-year deal, for an undisclosed fee, from West Bromwich Albion.

Bielik began his footballing journey in his native Poland with Legia Warsaw, before being picked up by current Premier League holders Arsenal.

Following an impressive loan with Charlton Athletic, Krystian permanently joined Derby County, where he spent four years.

Bielik has spent the last four seasons in the Midlands with Birmingham City and most recently the Baggies. The 28-year-old can operate as a midfielder or at centre-back, and has almost 150 Sky Bet Championship appearances under his belt, along with 11 international caps for Poland.

He is our fourth summer signing to date for the First Team squad, joining Nathan Trott, Jack Moylan and Calum Scanlon.

Speaking to Cardiff City TV after signing in the Welsh capital, Krystian said: “I’m very excited, I’m finally here and I couldn’t be happier. I’m looking forward to starting with the team as soon as possible and focusing on the first game.

“I’ve played the last couple of years as a centre-back and used to play a lot as a number 6, a deeper midfielder, and I still feel comfortable in this role.

“I’m 28 years old now and have been in this league for quite a long time, so with this experience I know what it takes to win games home and away.

“I’m looking forward to start winning games and climbing up. It’s the beginning of the season, so it can be a very successful one for us.

“I’ve played a few times against Cardiff City, and it’s never been an easy place to come to! It’s always got a great atmosphere, so it will be a pleasure to be here playing for this club.

“I’m ready, fit and healthy, and can’t wait to start with the team tomorrow and prepare for the big game on Saturday.”

Welcome to Cardiff City, Krys!

Excellent signing. Loads of experience at this level and versatile. That's three permanent signings in the window and Bielik is definitely an upgrade on Wintle. A couple more good loan signings and our window may turn out well.

Remember seeing him play for Brum a few years back and he was brilliant the games I watched but played in a 6 then from what I remember. Less hope he's over his injury problems now, fit and ready to go. I expect and hope atleast three more players of BBM choice ,ready to start , better than what we have and we can have a steady season I feel :bluescarf:

Two birds with one stone? He can take the 6 role but fill in at CB for a few weeks first

Yes, according to the Midlands media.

I’d say between £750k and £1m tops.

Not a bad deal then, 2.5mil over a 3 year contract is around 17,000 a week in wages. Signing on fee is probably the undisclosed bit, but can’t see it being a massive amount.

Covers two positions and seems like he can play the ball well going off stats last season.

Good deal if you ask me. Hopefully stays injury free. Him sitting in front of lawlor and osho/fish could be a really good little triangle.

Come on city

Yes I believe it’s worth a gamble as we are desperate.

Just spoke to a very good friend of mine from Poland, they believed he woukd go all the way, fell short, but a sold player and reliable.

Exactly what we need at the moment annis.

He should be good to have around the younger player, seems a leader and doesn’t shy out of a tackle from what I’ve seen of him..

Quite surprised by this one, as this type of signing goes against the recent trend.

Late 20s, high earner, etc.

Unlike Moylan, where Lincoln fans were gutted to see him go, the West Brom fans don’t seem too disappointed to be losing him.

I’ve seen a few comments saying he’s slow and very injury-prone. Obviously, that’s the last thing we need, but hopefully he’s just been unlucky and is due a good injury-free spell.

Excited to see him play and will make our own judgement. We’re definitely missing a bit of steel to complement and support our young talent.

Now we just need that winger with explosive pace who can beat a man and has some end product.

An experienced player in this league who covers two positions of need. Welcome to the mad house Bielik :bluescarf:

On the face of it, it looks an astute signing. Lots of experience at this level, covers two positions, has a good amount of height and physicality and didn’t cost a fortune!
Let’s hope he settles in quickly as we’ll need him to hit the ground running.

West brom supporters said the same of Karlan Grant and Cédric Kipré so would not take anything from them lets wait and see how he does in Cardiff City shirt

WBA fans are still sour we managed to get £8m off them for Zohore.

Trying their best to inflate the Bielik fee. The reality is none of them know as it is undisclosed.

He looks very strong and fit in his Club interview.
Obviously well have to see how he goes but I like this signing. Sort of player we need in this league.
In the interview he makes a big play of bringing on and helping the younger players.

All good points - but an essential buy in the circumstances - bit like putting toilet toll in the trolley and leaving the smoke salmon until next month.

I've been living out in Warsaw, Poland for the past 10 years. Friends here say he is a fantastic signing if we can keep him fit. One did say and I quote. "Really good signing for you guys but the guys made of glass". I dunno why but I have a good feeling about him.

Happy with this - seems like a good, sensible addition.

I don't believe he was a number 1 choice though. Have a feeling there may have been a couple of preferred options that didn't happen.

BUT, I like how it was a name nobody had suggested. Makes you believe a bit more in how much is going on without being publicised.

Way I see it is this, he's a player that can help out in two positions.

Injury record last season a slight concern, but the three seasons prior to that suggest it was just a bad year for him. Hopefully can stay injury free this season.

He brings experience, physicality and ability. Something some fans think we lacked, especially the first two.

I have no doubt everyone will support him as well as the rest of the squad with more incomings over the next few days :bluebird:
