Updated:

Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to welcome Krystian Bielik to the Welsh capital.

The Poland international joins the Bluebirds on a three-year deal, from West Bromwich Albion.

Cardiff agreed to take over Bieliks contract, No fee involved.

Updated:

Apparently had medical City and WBA talking through wages etc

Will be a permanent signing and City to take his wages on.

City fans wanted a player like this:

Played 17 times for WBA since Aug 2025

Cardiff City are closing in on the permanent signing of West Bromwich
Albion defender Krystian Bielik, with Brian Barry-Murphy finally set to bolster his injury-hit defence.

WBA
Defender Krystian Bielik, aged 28

Can’t get in to the WBA team so are willing to move him on or loan him out.

Cardiff very close to Signing him.

Bielik is a bit of a journeyman but will fill the gap for now.

People have wanted more experience and another defender, this is what this is. Played 17 Championship games last season.

I have said and stand by I don't think we need another defender.

But will back whatever BBM decides and whatever player he brings in. Looks a good signing.

He’s Tough / Solid and a bit of a leader

Apparently it’s a done deal :thumbright:

Well Ned we all have different opinions, i don't think our 4 CB's from last season are good/strong enough for the championship anyway. This will be a good signing if it comes off.

Quite happy with this......

Just a DM, Winger and striker to go!

I can see a first teamer leaving. If I was to go for shock value, I'd say either Chambers or Osho may be the ones to go?

Doubt it, these 2 are the closest we have to fit playing CBs. We will likely carry 5 over the season but 1 is out for just under half the season and Lawlor out til mid September.

I’d imagine we will say goodbye to Chambers or Lawlor next summer instead.

Seems to be an average signing, can't get a start for WBA,but...better than what we have,he's a CB, can also play in midfield, likes getting forward,in BBM we trust.

Yes I know some have doubts about Chambers especially, I'm a big fan of Osho though.

I think if our CBs are Osho and Bielik for the next few weeks then that's two experienced defenders.

I have a feeling he can also play DM so theres the signing for DM for when Lawlor, Osho, Chambers & Fish come back :bluebird:

Re: Cardiff have apparently done the Deal:

Strong and experienced.

Just what we need at the moment.

think thats perfect for us 2 experienced Center halfs to bring a bit of physicality to the back line which allows our youngsters to get on with attacking

Can give kapacio a rest will.make us more solid thats for sure

Re: Cardiff have apparently done the Deal:

Does anybody know if he's played at all this season or pre-season?

Hope he's ready to go straight in on Saturday.

Re: Cardiff have apparently done the Deal:

Fits BBM’s ‘interchangeable’ profile, so makes a certain sense. Not sure what his wages are, but the fee is likely to be low, so it leaves funds for players required in other (more important in the longer term) areas, assuming it goes through

Would be surprised to see Osho go - he's BBM's biggest signing.

Also, seen a few posts speculating on whether BBM could walk if Tan doesn't pull his finger out. He does have form for this - Rochdale and Man City - he left both at his option. In very different situations - Rochdale after relegation, Man City academy after 3 yrs success - both times saying 'he couldn't do any more'

So, principled or pig-headed - take your pick.

I don't think any of us expected a marquee signing, just a solid, physical presence to make our defence sturdier. Hopefully he fits the bill as we couldn't carry on with 4 full backs.

Chambers is on his last year isn't he? And he's on a big wage. I'd be shocked if we don't just let his contract run down. Osho absolutely no chance

Paul Abbo just posted hes coming in mainly as a number 6 but can help out at cb for now

I know you seem to have something against BBM, going by recent posts (apologies if I've misjudged that) but I'll go with principled.

Given there was only a month gap between leaving Rochdale and going to Man City, fair to assume that deal was already in motion. He left Man City because he wanted to be a manager (media interviews in that time prove that) and Leicester was a good stop gap.

It's also not unusual for a manager to spend only two or three years at a club and then decide they've had enough. That's what Guardiola did, until Man City.

I see to remember him playing in that position for Birmingham. Makes even more sense.

Whatever he does stay out of the treatment room ,5 defenders inc the 15year old would be laughable
