About Sheffield United

Sheffield United are in their third successive season in the Championship, having been relegated from the Premier League in 2024.

Last season they finished 13th, having had a revival when Chris Wilder returned following a terrible start to the season under Ruben Selles.

They have had three seasons in the Premier League since 2019.

Club Connections

Mark McGuinness now plays for Sheffield United.

We sold him to Luton in 2024 for a big fee.

He has been linked with a move in this transfer window, but remains with Sheffield United at time of writing.

The Opposition's Manager

Chris Wilder returned for his third spell in charge of Sheffield United in September 2025. He previously had the job between 2016 and 2021, as well as from 2023 to June 2025.

A lifelong fan of the club, he has achieved two promotions with them - one to the Championship and one to the Premier League.

He also has had promotions as a manager with Alfreton, Oxford and Northampton.

Other clubs he's managed are Middlesbrough and Watford.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Patrick Bamford is a well established and experienced striker at this level. He scored 12 goals in 28 league games last season.

Callum O'Hare is a great player in the Championship. He has had at least nine goals and assists in each of the last three seasons, with nine goals and seven assists last season.

Referee

John Busby will take charge of the game.

He refereed 26 games last season, showing 110 yellow cards - an average of 4.2 per game. He also showed 4 red cards.

He has done one game so far this season and showed two yellow cards.

Head To Head - Last Five Meetings

We have lost four of our last five meetings with Sheffield United.

The last of these was 2-0 defeat at Bramall Lane in April 2025, in the Championship.

Our last win against them was three months before that, in an FA Cup away game.

Team News - Predicted Line-Ups

Cardiff City: Trott, Kpakio, Ng, Bagan, Scanlon, Robertson, Moylan, R Colwill, Ashford, Tanner, Salech

Sheffield United: Cooper, Seriki, Tanganga, McGuinness, McCallum, Burrows, Rothwell, Arblaster, Peck, O'Hare, Bamford

Last Game

We drew our last league game, 2-2 at Derby. We then lost 2-1 at home to Norwich in the Carabao Cup.

Sheffield United drew 0-0 at Swansea in their last league game. They won 2-1 at Blackburn in the Carabao Cup.

Match Odds

Cardiff City - 7/5

Sheffield United want to sign Hull City defender Cody Drameh on loan, according to Sky Sports.
Sheffield United have become the latest Championship side to be credited with an interest in the Premier League right-back. SUFC are in the market for more new faces before the end of the transfer window next Tuesday.

Drameh, 24, has been linked with Millwall, Preston North End and Stoke City already this summer following the Tigers’ promotion to the top flight. He is under contract at the MKM Stadium until June 2027, although the East Yorkshire outfit hold an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months on top of that running until 2028.

n this latest update regarding his situation, Sky Sports claim the Blades are interested in luring him to Bramall Lane on a temporary basis if possible. The source adds that the player’s preference is to stay where he is at this moment in time.

Sheffield United’s recruitment plans have switched towards free agents and loans recently and they are in need of some new faces to bolster their ranks. They have drawn their first two league fixtures of the new season 0-0 against Birmingham City and Swansea City respectively.

Hope the officials are not as blind as in Boro game? Boro player in offside position(well offside) when a shot came in lino in line with players... shot hit keeper and the Boro player headed in!! Lino instead calling offside at point of shot as used fact it hit keeper later to say hes onside? Am I correct in saying offside is at point of 1st ball contact not at end of move?
He was in line with keeper when offside.
