OH NO TAN IS ONCE AGAIN APPEALING SALA CASE AND IT WILL Link

Wed Jul 15, 2026 3:55 pm

Give it up Tan - we are never going to win.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=204226

The latest appeal will take up to two years to be heard.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=204226

Cardiff City have filed an appeal against a French judge's decision to dismiss a claim for more than £100m in compensation following the death of footballer Emiliano Sala.

The 28-year-old, and pilot David Ibbotson, died when the Piper Malibu plane carrying them crashed into the English Channel on the night of 21 January 2019.

Despite now on four different occasions and different Judges all going against Cardiff, Vincent Tan has continued and is still continuing his appeals.

Cardiff were claiming more than 120m euros (£104m) for loss of income and other damages, based on the belief Sala could have kept the club in the Premier League.

But the Nantes commercial court dismissed its claims and also ordered the Welsh club to pay about £400,000 in legal fees and moral damages suffered by the French side.

The penalty was payable immediately, regardless of any possible appeal.

At the time of the verdict, Cardiff's legal representatives said they would take time to reflect whether to continue the legal claim via an appeal, that would be heard at the Court of Appeal in Rennes.
Cardiff had a three-month window to decide - with the deadline this week - but the club has now confirmed they have lodged their intention.

An appeal triggers a new trial - a second chance at the case being heard and re-examined in its entirety - with the process taking up to two years.

Madness.

Re: Oh no - we are appealing the Sala decision again!

While we all think it's madness I don't think he's going to stop trying any time soon. It's not about the money for him but about the wrong that he perceives, rightly or wrongly, has been done to his own personal reputation. It's hard to explain but it's very much a cultural thing.

It seems crazy but it’s up to him.
It doesn’t make a scrap of difference to me and I’m not sure why some get so angry.

a chance of an appeal is taken up by most people if had choice even when got no chance to win appeal? In this case it's not some 2 bit lawyer dealing with this its a company that specialises in no win cases it's mostly their money on the line ..... not sure either why get uptight over this at end day tan thinks he's been wronged and wants redress no different from anyone else on this board if been wronged they'd want same.

Nope you're wrong. We as a club have virtually nothing to do with it anymore & any associated costs do not come from the club.

We just made a 5.5 million bid, hardly no money for recruits.

But we just made a 5.5 million quid bid for a player. Isn't that releasing big funds for whoever BBM wants to go for?

They have but I would be surprised if it's used as an excuse to spend no money. Time will tell though.

Monty,

All this latest pathetic appeal will take 2 yrs, it’s 100% not healthy for our club.

We will see what impact this has, i will not come out with statements that it will or will not have any bearing on transfers .

No one knows for sure what effect it has either way, but I’m positive if anyone here felt and injustice done against they would appeal until it’s no longer possible. Good luck to them I don’t know who’s to blame but it certainly not our clubs fault. I support the club no matter what.

I agree; it’s his money/decision, and I think we are way past the point where it will affect the running of our club’s football operation (IMHO)

Your initial post said "no money for new recruits". Just for once in your life show a bit of humility and admit what you were actually saying.

Stop with this whole "I'm saying nothing" bollocks when you have clearly said what you said.

You just don't like it because I'm of the few that call out your bollocks for what it is. And I'm not going to stop doing that.
