Heatwave warnings The one in August 2022 nearly finished me

Wed Jun 24, 2026 6:08 am

Make sure you listen to the heatwave warnings.

On 15th August 2022. I collapsed at home with a Cardiac Arrest. Ended up having to spend 4 months in hospital

Tests found no answer as to why I had it but the doctors thought it quite likely that the heat
at the time had contributed to it.

So lets be careful out there, especially you older blokes like me

Elwood - glad you made it through what must have been a tough time for you and your family.

Monty - you should have been a teacher. School near me closed for the rest of the week :o so plenty of extra time off for the teachers to go to the beach.

I'm sure they'll make up the lost lesson time time by teaching on some of the inset days or maybe they can do online teaching like in Covid?

I have breathing and heart issues so not a great fan of this weather.

But would always advise people to stay properly hydrated and you will get through it.

I was an apprentice refitting the Queens Vaults, start at 6:00am work through till 2:00 then straight to the Knap Pool in Barry. I’d only just moved down from Scotland and thought it was a normal Welsh summer. Happy days.
As has been noted 70s fashion was brutal though.

Three evenings ago was walking the streets of Zaragoza in search of some tapas/pintxos. The [official] recorded temperature was 45 degrees ! Never ever experienced heat like it.
