Thames Valley Police will undertake a highly visible and robust policing operation for the match between Reading Football Club and Cardiff City Football Club on Saturday, 18 April.

Section 35 orders will be enacted as a preventative measure to help ensure the safety of fans and local communities in the area.

Section 35 dispersal powers give police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) the authority to disperse individuals and groups who are causing, or are likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress from a specified locality.

The orders will be in place from 8am until 8pm on Saturday, 18 April, in Reading

In addition, tactics including football spotters, mounted officers, tactical cyclists, police dogs and drones will be deployed to provide reassurance to local communities.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Do they always do it when they have a big away following there?

It does seem the Thames Valley Police have someone in charge who loves to push out his troops at any opportunity.

Its obviously the loony in charge of his troops at thames valley who loves deploying and organising when it's not required but when there are serious protests in London or festivals ie Notting hill and crowd control is required there are very few deployed and are either shaking hands or dancing with protesters.

Two tier policing has become the norm.

Could this be anything to do with the fact that we could be promoted tomorrow? If that happens I doubt whether the locals would take kindly to our celebrations, and are likely to join in, but not in a welcoming, celebratory mood. :occasion5:

Explains why we weren't given more tickets. Made absolutely no sense they didn't just give us the whole end as we'd have easily sold it. Not like they'll be getting anything like a full house

Can't be that because bluesince1981 said on this thread that they didn't do this to Lincoln.
