It would be an opportunity missed to not sign him permanently.

I think the option to buy is only triggered once we get promoted so hopefully that's the reason a deal hasn't been agreed yet.

I said from day one we won’t Sign him, We won’t pay the money and they will say they bid high as usual

I agree Annis. Tan won’t pay anything of value. Why did we sign this other goalie who we have yet to see? I think this tells us the answer. But why have we signed him and why has nothing be said about him?

That is exactly the reason why we signed the Everton goalie on a free during January.

£1.5m for any player in the summer?

Absolutely no chance that Tan will pay that.

Next season will be a struggle from day one.

No money.

No chance.

ANNIS

if we won' t pay 1.5 million for a proven keeper, what about all the millions that need to be spent for the rest of the squad,? we do not want to be like we were under riza at the bottom all season because tan is a spiteful tw*t.

Surely if tan does not stump up funds for next season, the remaining few tan supporters surely have to come on board with the rest of us,
we cannot go into the championship with just a few loan signings, we made 1 this season Scanlon.

If tan things that's enough we should all be screaming from the rooftops as soon as rather than waiting till pre season games with no change that will be to late.

Tan won’t fiend any money.

If say we sell a player for £5mill, then he might say we didn’t £1mill.

Monty,

We all know how Tan and Co work, pretend through Glen Williams they spent so money but in reality it’s virtually zero.

I don’t Trust any of them.

Could it be the contract and not the fee?

Rumour is that he's asking for loads in wages.

Guess he can do that because of other interest in him.

If that’s true. Offer him something and give a date that it’s on the table for if he doesn’t sign by then, move on.

Something seems off why did we sign a keeper in January, it really wasn't high on the priority list

Because both Alnwick and Horvath left, we needed a third GK. So if we don't sign Trott then I'd imagine we'll bring in another GK.

Would we get a better keeper for the championship i think not?,
pay the money you would think some of the fans are paying the transfer out of tgere own bank account ,we need quality bext season and it's a good start with the keeper.

If we cannot get this over the line what hope for anything else ,we need to know soon if cardiff are investing or more cost cutting .

Ned,

We always seem to hear this if we’re not going to get a player.

Agreed Monty, agreed if we want to do well in the Championship, a Quality Keeper like Trott will be needed.
They would if discussed the wages a long time ago .

regarding Trott lets be honest not too many people have heard of him before joining us so its natural lots of clubs with a higher reach will be closely monitoring the situation following his displays this season .

Yeah that's a fair point actually Annis.

Putting aside doubts about tans investment or trotts wage demands.... could a bigger club come in and turn his head mean agents! Not expecting him to sighn for us but I feel bigger club more likely as a reason than anything else.....plus if he declines city offer his parent club is £££££s in as he's worth more than reputed £1.5m we can buy for

Re: Trott permanent deal worry

Thu Apr 16, 2026 4:38 pm

God we've not even confirmed promotion yet and already depressed at the thought of Tan reverting to type ala previous championship seasons, stumbling along trying to avoid the drop, with revolving door for managers and journey men players, while any player worth a few ££££s is gone!! Please god no!

Re: Trott permanent deal worry

Thu Apr 16, 2026 4:49 pm

Surely if players like chambers and Robinson leave in the summer that would free up a huge chunk of wages , trott has saved us so many times this season he deserves a nice contract

Re: Trott permanent deal worry

Thu Apr 16, 2026 5:01 pm

Football transfers are a murky old world.

Copenhagen could easily get £5 million for him, so if they dropped him half a million to turn down city, they'd still be £3 million up....
He gets £500k leaving bonus, a signing-on fee, and probably more wages.

Apparently what he's asking for would make him one of the highest earners at the club which I dont think is unreasonable

I think it is unreasonable. Not many clubs will have their goalkeeper as the highest earner.

But that's if that is true. As has been said by Annis, it's always made out to be because of wages when we miss out on signing a player - can't be true every time.

Re: Trott permanent deal worry

Thu Apr 16, 2026 5:25 pm

I always take things like this with a pinch of salt and with a raised eyebrow to agent shenanigans by way of putting out the story to see what's on offer after their player has had a great season & now people know who he is. If he goes somewhere else then so be it, we send him on his way with a wave & a scowl.

And as usual we end up with people on here stating things as fact when they're nothing of the sort.

But surely a keeper of trotts quality could mean the difference between staying up or not if tan fails to invest in the summer and therefore would be worth the money spend

Re: Trott permanent deal worry

Its a no brainer for me, we all know he is worth it, all these people saying jog on if he wants a good deal or more money,

you have to have the best, we cannot keep living in bargain basement, we need owners with ambition, not telling us the best keeper in this division is not worth it.

Re: Trott permanent deal worry

With a 10p budget I wouldn't expect anything else and with that freebie everton goalkeeper coming in id expect it not to happen sadly. Let's be realist we all know the crack by now under the idiots at the top . It going to be a long hard struggle next season unless we get 5 or 6 quality players in but I won't hold me breath and if BBM actually stays of course although I'd not blame him for going either should a club come in for him :bluebird:
