About Lincoln City

This is Lincoln's seventh consecutive season in League One, having won the League Two title in 2019.

They finished 11th last season.

They are having a brilliant season and currently sit in 2nd place, one point behind us.

Club Connections

Not many players have played for both clubs, David Felgate is one though - the goalkeeper also got one cap for Wales.

The Opposition's Manager

Michael Skubala has been Lincoln manager since 2023.

This is his first managerial job, although he was briefly caretaker manager at Leeds.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Jack Moylan has been one of the standout players in League One this season with seven goals and four assists.

Rob Street has scored in each of his last three.

Referee

TBC.

Head To Head - Last Five Meetings

We have lost four out of our last five against Lincoln, this includes the 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture in December.

All other games between the two were 25 years ago or more, with our last win coming in what is now League Two in 2000.

Michael Skubala has delivered an ominous message to the Imps’ promotion rivals in the wake of another big victory.

The Imps finished February with 13 points from 15, and an aggregate score of 15-2 across the whole month. Goals are coming from all sources, and two first team players got their first of the season yesterday, Conor McGrandles and Dom Jefferies.

Speaking to John Helm after the game, our head coach sounded a warning to the rest of the division.

“I think we’re getting stronger,” Michael said after demolishing Blackpool 4-0.

“You can see the confidence in the group. You can see the learning from some of the newer players in January of how we want to look and what we want to be.”

City got stronger as the Blackpool game went on. The visitors certainly didn’t roll over like Northampton, and the game was poised at 1-0 with 12 minutes left, before Rob Street, Jefferies and Ryan Oné made it safe. Jefferies assisted Oné, meaning subs had three goal involvements.

Jack Moylan Lincoln City Injury Latest -

The official club broadcast post-match didn’t make reference to Moylan’s injury, and we’ve heard nothing new since, but BBC Radio Lincolnshire did broach the subject after the game. Michael Skubala said Jack had a dead leg, and they can be unpredictable.

“He got a dead leg,” said the best coach in League One. “So, we just need to see that. Those can be a few days. Those can be weeks.”

Jack did emerge for the second half, only to go down quite early, which Michael also explained.

“To be fair to him, he tried it second half, and within five minutes, we knew he was going to struggle.”

His input in the first period was telling. One run when he skinned Jordan Brown and slid into Ben House really stood out, but he was his usual energetic self. As well as being a flair player, he’s also described as ‘tough’ by Michael, who suggested he could be back quite quickly.

It’s still unclear whether he’ll be fit for Cardiff or not, but if he isn’t, the nature of the injury does suggest we’re talking days, not weeks, for a recovery. We’ll need the lockpicking skills of the Irish magician to open the stoic defences of Rotherham, Wimbledon and Orient when they come to the Bank hunting a point later in the season.

Sheffield United loanee Ryan Oné is starting to make a real name for himself with League One promotion hopefuls Lincoln City
Sheffield United youngster Ryan Oné has earned rave reviews in his early months as a Lincoln City player following his late January loan move from South Yorkshire to the LNER Stadium.

The 19-year-old, who joined the Blades from Scottish side Hamilton Academical in September 2023, is starting to show signs of his full potential at senior level after being restricted to mainly cameo appearances from the bench at Bramall Lane.

One’ didn’t take long to endear himself to the Lincoln faithful, scoring on his debut from the subs bench during a 4-1 demolition of Plymouth Argyle and following that up 10 days later with another goal in his first start against Northampton Town where he was trusted to start on the wing despite mainly being recognised as a centre forward back in S2.

The Scottish Under-21 international registered his third goal in his most recent outing during a 4-0 win over Blackpool despite only being on the pitch for just three minutes after appearing as a late substitute.

Come on the boys, we can do this.

By far the hardest game of the season against a team who's style of play we struggle with...but we fear no1 and rightly so!

I've not got the usual nerves that Ive had in previous promotion campaigns. Not sure why...guess I'm just confident that this team and manager will finish the job and it doesn't rest on Lincoln or Saturdays result. Would be bloody amazing to do them though.

Think Men of Harlech will ring out a lot louder than usual and I cannot bloody wait!!!

Michael Skubala has admitted Freddie Draper won’t make this weekend’s fixture against Cardiff City.

However, Jack Moylan’s chances of making the game are up in the air, despite his injury not being long-term. He went off just after half-time of the 4-0 victory against Blackpool, and has been a key player for the Imps this season.

Cardiff could be without four first-team players for this weekend’s clash, and we will definitely be without one (long-term absentees not included), but will Jack make it?

“Yeah, he’s not trained fully this week so it’s probably going to be a late one to see how he how he goes,” Michael said in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s a dead leg but you know these can take a bit of time sometimes. We’ll see if he manages to make the squad for Saturday but yeah we’re not sure yet.”

Freddie Draper is another player who had been in superb form, but he limped off during another 4-0 win, this time against Northampton Town, and hasn’t been seen since. He is walking without crutches at matches: he was spotted in the stands watching on as we hammered the Seasiders, but he won’t be on the pitch in Wales this weekend.
“I think if Freddie’s probably a bit longer, that’s week to week one. We’re unsure,” Michael said.

“If Jack doesn’t make Saturday he’ll make Tuesday. So we’re more confident on that. We’ve got to just nurse him through the next sort of 48 hours 72 hours really.”

I'm actually feeling pretty nervous about this one, I've normally been very calm before 99% of games this season but this one just feels massive and a win would just be absolutely huge and would give us the push needed to get us over the line where as a defeat and a Bolton win would have us looking nervously over our shoulders and I don't think I could cope with us doing another cardiff this season
