Striker now a priority?

Sat Jan 24, 2026 3:21 pm

With the injury to salech (really hope it's not serious) then surely we have to sign a striker ASAP? We struggled with Robinson as the lone striker as any long ball came straight back at us

BBM didn't panic in the summer when Tanner got injured, don't think he'll panic now.

But I would hope that a striker was a position we were already targeting.

The difference with the tanner injury is we did have other options, we have nobody else like Salech, Robinson just can't hold the ball up so we constantly have the ball coming back at us, I've been totally relaxed with no activity this window but we really need to act now

Callum Patterson sounds good?

100% need a striker and LB.

Ethan Wheatley on loan from Man United.

Unless we are willing to spend money, Dom Ballard mentioned above would be great or Kyle Wooton who scored against us today another.

Fingers crossed Salech isn't as serious as it looked.

We've needed a striker all season. Robinson is a finisher in the last 10 mins if we are chasing the game. He offers nothing as a starter

I thought Robinson did well when he come out, dropped into space to recieve the ball into feet and keep the ball moving. However hes not a target man and any balls with a bit of height he has no chance.

Yeah that's a fair point.

As I said, would hope a striker was something we were looking at anyway.

We need to bring in someone experienced on loan now to see us through until the end of the season.

If Wrexham bring in another striker, I would like to see us go for Sam Smith on loan.

Maybe worth trying to hijack ethan Wheatleys loan move to Bradford

He scored in the premiership and these thugs we get in division 1 would have a fight on their hands

Pie in the sky but I'd have him back in a heartbeat

Robinson like ramsey lost his pace if he had any,
no good in the air
He ran around like my mum and she is 92 15 mins is his max now sadly.

Callum Patterson is older than murphy the manager surely.

Think we needed another striker before Salech getting injured today anyway because Robinson can’t play upfront on his own

We have needed cover for salec all season Robinson cannot do 90 mins

I’ve been saying for a few weeks, since BBM started both Robbo and Salech together that we need a 3rd striker, yesterday kind of sealed that thinking too.

He’s on a really good contract at MK Dons mind.

He would 100% do a job for us though but I don’t think they would let him go.

It’s that BBM does not want any more Strikers of quality etc it’s because he won’t be backed by the Hierarchy

Failing bringing a player in , then push Ashford into the centre striker role.

That’s hugely disrespectful but not surprising!

Callum Robinson last season scored 12 goals in 34 games (slightly more than 1 in 3) in a very poor team! No one else came close to 10+ and Callum’s fitness stats were right up there, too!

This season, mainly from the bench, he has played 730 minutes over 25 games, which is a theoretical total of 8 games. In those, he has scored 5 important goals at a rate (per 90 minutes) of over 1 in 2

It seems his only ‘crime’ has been to play largely second fiddle to the emerging (and different in style) Yousef Salech; but when has come on, he has been a different option, scored important goals and more than contributed to the team’s success!

Maybe the Championship next season would be a different matter, but for now, he’s done nothing to warrant that kind of criticism!

Not disrespectful at all you are quoting last season stats this season he looks way off it wether that's lack of game time or not ,and most on the forum agree we want a back up striker for salec ,if Robinson is the answer why are so many of the opinion we need a replacement for salec?
