We are delighted to announce that Yousef Salech has committed his future to the Bluebirds.
The striker has signed a one-year extension to his current deal, meaning his contract now runs until the summer of 2030.
Hailing from Hellerup, Denmark, Yousef joined the Club from Swedish side IK Sirius in January 2025.
Having made a large contribution to Brian Barry-Murphy’s side’s positive campaign to date, he has netted 12 goals in 26 league appearances this season.
Speaking to Cardiff City TV, Yousef said: "I'd like to thank the Club and of course Tan Sri Vincent for putting their faith in me for the future.
SALECH:
“I’m very glad to extend my contract. I’ve only been here for a year and I’ve enjoyed it. I feel like I’m at a Club where I’m wanted.
“I love playing at Cardiff City Stadium in front of our fans. It was very obvious for me to agree to a deal here to stay longer.
“I appreciate the fans’ support a lot. It’s something I take pride in and I try to do as well as I can for them.
“We’re in the middle of the season and it’s all about what lies ahead. We need to enjoy the ride but not look too far ahead to what we want to achieve this season; it’s about enjoying working towards that.”
City head coach Brian Barry-Murphy added: "I'm really pleased that Yousef sees his future at the Club.
"He's getting better day-by-day and setting an example. The most exciting thing for me is that he's really humble and willing to try and improve all parts of his game everyday in training.
"He already is, and will continue to be, a huge player for us moving forward."

Huge news.
So important to stop there being potential of talk that he could leave this window.
Really important business to get done and I'm assuming a well deserved increase in wages for him.

I saw a article from a Lancashire paper yesterday saying Preston made a bid in the summer which the club turned down maybe they reignited interest so we tied him down to a better contract

They didn’t (renew interest) but this is great news for all concerned with the Bluebirds!
Yousef Salech is still building as a player and with BBM in charge, we have found a gem!

Who was responsible for finding salech ?
Tue Jan 20, 2026 5:43 pm
This is what we want best players staying not leaving we are pushing to get back to the championship all the players can see that and I ca not see any leaving as the championship is a great standard and you play regular kapakio lawlor could leave but there is no guarantee of first team football, look at kellyman chelsea paid 19 million for him but he cannot get near the chelsea team granted he got injured but this is how things can pan out for anyone.

He's in the right place to develop his game and how nice it is to be able to say that!!!

Great news. Not loved a player like I’ve loved him for a long time

Great news and reinforces that the club intends to progress and not just sell our best players at the first opportunity.

Regarding Kellyman, I honestly believe he would benefit from staying here under BBM for another season, if that was in the Championship
Reports state Chelsea are ecstatic with his development here, so it might not be as crazy as it sounds, as it would be a step up in level and at a club with coaches they (Chelsea) can trust!

Riza said it was him but he claims credit for a lot of things that have nothing to do with him, so take that with a pinch of salt.
Must have been a name that came up in the scouting and for once, we took a punt on the right player.

Thought Salech joined us 5 months before BBM?
Have to assume it was the oft referred to transfer committee

Fully understandable, we all tried to blank that period from our minds....
My memory wanders from Warnock, Harris, Mad Mick then the next thing i recall is BBM

Like I said in this thread Chris, it was claimed by Riza that it was his move.
But he's also claimed credit for this season (which is madness from him) so I take it with a pinch of salt.

In fairness given his history in youth coaching he probably has an eye for talent just not the ability to utilise it
