Lots of chatter this morning from multiple places stating Coventry are seriously interested in the pair of them, wonder if any bids will come in before deadline day

Been reported this morning that neither are for sale this month, barring an eye watering offer coming in.
I don't see that happening this month.
But there will be serious offers in the summer with the likes of Man Utd, Brighton, AC Milan and others circling.

Yea I think it would take some serious money for us to even think about it at this stage
I also think if we do go up we will have a good chance of keeping all our youngsters who may believe a season at championship level is best for there progression
Mon Jan 19, 2026 11:57 am
Hopefully just rumours.
Wouldn't blame either of them for wanting to go there, they will be a prem team next year.
We need to keep both, unless the bid is too good to reject.
Mon Jan 19, 2026 12:10 pm
He's not been playing them regularly even when they was fit ) week after week ) due to the back four tinkering so wouldn't blame them or maybe this was the reason we will never know
Mon Jan 19, 2026 12:13 pm
If the money is there, we have cover or could replace. Ideal world, we'd keep both, but order of the jungle means if someone higher with cash turn up; we could sell.
Salech for me is the current 1 that is invaluable to us as we went through alot of crap to find a goal scorer.
Mon Jan 19, 2026 12:23 pm
If they do go, we need to make sure there is as big as sell on clause as possible.
Mon Jan 19, 2026 12:23 pm
In my humble opinion they would be going to a smaller club than us if they did go and it will be purely for VT to get money. certainly wont be a footballing sense letting them go.

I'd say the ideal scenario is we sell in the summer for a decent fee, get a sell on clause and have them loaned back to us for the season.
A loan back would make sense if they go to a top club. As good as they are, probably not ready for Premier League or Serie A football if they go to an elite club like Man Utd or AC Milan (using those two as an example as they were named as apparently interested this morning).
Mon Jan 19, 2026 1:17 pm
Cardiff have got to do everything in their power to keep the 2 mentioned also they have got to try and keep all the youngsters we have, they are our future, its proven.
Mon Jan 19, 2026 1:24 pm
If we want to progress don' t sell your best you have to find equivalent and usually the same price so hold on at all costs and keep building a Championship squad going places imo.
Mon Jan 19, 2026 1:52 pm
Kpakio on the wing before we leave is a must. I cant die without seeing it
Mon Jan 19, 2026 1:56 pm
When/if those two players (and several others) depart, it will be for bigger clubs than Coventry City
Not a chance we will allow any of BBM’s squad go this window, unless he wants them too; and most of those (loans) have already departed
Bound to be rumours; it’s the sign of any club’s success, but we should be more focused on who/when players are coming in rather than going out at this time!
Expect new faces ant the CCS over the next few days/week!

We are not a big club compared to others. We can't get the stadium full and we are top of the League we couldnt do it either in normal league games when we was going to the prem from the championship. Although we all like to think we are, we are not, we have a fair-weather fan base as proven. Both of them will be gone if the money's right then tan will sell if they want to go or not they would be told to go he needs the money they could be told. Although they have both had new contracts that means nothing in football sadly as much as we all want them to stay as they will develop more here playing i feel if they are playing weekly if BBM plays them week after week of course when both are fit

Lawlor’s agents want him sold
Mon Jan 19, 2026 2:57 pm
If the clubs that are apparently looking at lawlor are in fact looking at him then Coventry got no chance

I doubt that's a big factor, or they wouldn't have got him to sign the new contract that he did.
They would have made more in agent fees if he'd gone on a free transfer.
I expect them to be sold for good money in the summer, that's the nature of any football clubs apart from the few elite. But not because of their agents.

Lawler is happy at Cardiff and isn't interested in moving at this stage of his career as he feels he can only get better under bbm so he won't be pushing for a move

What a complete load of rubbish.

Gents, respectfully the world is a different place nowadays. Its all about the source.
This originated from a click bait site that rarely gets anything correct then regurgitated on another click bait and subscription site (WOL)
Just see how easy it it to ask a AI site to give you a 200 word piece reporting on the interest in Cardiff citys Kpackio and Lawlor in the format of a serious sports journalist, add clubs interested.
There was a lot of BS before easy access AI, now its just a free for all.

People need to read Lawlor’s own comments!
He’s more than ‘
happy’ here, and loyal to BBM, as he understands he will only get better as he gains game-time and (hopefully) a step-up to the Championship with the Bluebirds next season
Clearly, there will be a price and/or sizeable club come in, which will test both BBM and Tan’s resolve, but that time is not now, and IMHO, it won’t be this summer without a substantial (£10m+ sell-on % bid) either!
This lad has a huge future!

I always find these (negative leaning) threads odd, as they attract far more posters than a (positive) thread, such as BBM getting Manager of the Month, or one of our players getting in the team of the week!
Mon Jan 19, 2026 8:33 pm
Pay us 10 million for both
hat is there potential
AND how important they are to us
Mon Jan 19, 2026 8:45 pm
I can’t see anyone leaving in this window. Why would DL or RK go now when they have the chance to win a league alongside the majority of the mates they’ve grown up with? As for Coventry, they might want both players, but they’d be in a queue behind much bigger clubs. Non-story for me
Mon Jan 19, 2026 9:03 pm
I know I am biased. and I know we dont know what going on behind closed doors
But RK and DL will have countless examples of young lads that made a big move to a percieved bigger club then have never been seen again.
They are young, they still have a lot to learn and will only learn that by playing regularly.
Currently they have a nurturing and supportive manager. They are established first team players and are getting regular game time. They aren't ready to be the dependent number 1s, here or higher. Physically or experience wise. They 100% have the ability to be so. But If they go to upper championship or even abroad, the likelyhood is they wont play much. Probably be loaned out somewhere.
That's a 19 year old kid being taken away from family and friends to have no real difference to what is happening now.
I hope they are being well advised to stay put and build their abilities and reputations.
Mon Jan 19, 2026 9:13 pm
Does seem strange why lawlor hasn’t been playing , if any if these go would be devastating loss for the team and why would you sell such quality players at this time when we need them

Just passing on what I’ve heard from a source I trust, Lawlor himself doesn’t necessarily want to go but his management want him to.
His management is small and local rather than a big firm he’s by far their biggest asset and their cut would be pretty huge for them
