Salech

Yes he works and he does not get any favours from the referees but it does not seem to work. Holding up the ball was not great today . Is it we don't play to his strengths or should we be looking to get Robinson with him . I think we should try to get Robinson and Salech together in the team.

Agree with you. OK, we're top of the league but this is a poor League 1 in my view. BBM is wedded to his bloody Pep-ball isolated striker formation. He has to realise that this does not work in every match - somehow though, I doubt the penny will drop.

We are not up against world beating quality here, so I'd expect BBM to at least play 2 strikers at home, but sadly, unless we're losing with 20 minutes left, it ain't going to happen.

Re: Salech

Salech is still very young for a lone striker position. I think Kieffer was still a pool lifeguard playing semi-pro at his age. He can't get bum calls every game, I don't think he is cute enough at disguising his backing in and tussling. He gives a lot as well.

He does occupy the 2 centre halves, allowing space for Colwill.

He is gonna be better and better, just needs a few more crosses a game, but a bit too Warnock for BBM

I'd like to see him lay the ball off like Bothroyd use to do. However he needs the support to do that which he rarely gets.

Agree with all the comments we can see it is not working as it should. I await the comments your negative we are top of the League , but we can see that the forward line is not helping the defence or producing the chances we should be having.

I think we may well now see Robinson and Salech together if Colwill is out. We don't have a natural replacement for him

As mentioned in a different thread, Kellyman switching inside would be a perfect replacement for Rubin. The guy is creative and makes things happen. Moving Kpakio further forwards worked well and Ng supporting him looked solid.

Cyncoedblue… the negative police will be after you :violent3:

Those types of games aren’t the ones for CR. I said to my mate as we were watching ‘Robinson would only be effective if he could bring an umbrella on with him!’

He’ll have to go in Jan

It does, but it was a joke!

But if anyone doesn’t make sense, it’s you! Just read your recent posts back! :ayatollah:

I think he is a very good player, but he DOES need support upfront, and better crosses to him. Kpakio would be the ideal winger for him,and I believe that Isaac Davies should play alongside him as he is a very good goal poacher.

I have no idea what to think of him sometimes. During yesterday's game I wavered between "c'mon ref that's ridiculous" and "get up you fking powderpuff & kick him back". Then he went & got all sarcastic jumping up & down at the end when the ref gave him a foul, cracked me up.

7 goals and 3 in 3. Works his bollocks off. 'Mare of a thread.

Here here, he'll miss some as all strikers do, but he scores too and always puts the effort in.

Hopefully he'll reach the 20+ mark this season.

Excellent today.

Probably should have scored a hattrick instead of just one, but more pleased with his all round game.

Re: Salech

Sat Nov 29, 2025 6:14 pm

He's totally over rated. Should have scored 4 today but the guy is useless.

His headers are usually weak and wayward, his positioning is awful, he won't challenge a defender in the box for a header, he's too weak when challenged by a defender.....but he scores one of his easy 7 or so chances today and everyone thinks he's brilliant :banghead:

Re: Salech

Sat Nov 29, 2025 6:20 pm

I thought he was really poor today should have had a hatrick easily... I don't think he's overrated though he's worked hard and played well all year without us playing to his strengths

Loads of posts saying we don't play to his strengths, but I can't see what his strengths are. As mentioned above, his headers are usually weak and off target and he doesn't challenge a defender in the air.

Handful for defenders and scores goals. Not sure what else some of you misery’s want.

Got less involved with the grappling today, he is improving and improving.

Keiffer was semi pro at his age

Keiffer would have scored 4 or 5 from those chances today

Then your issue clearly isnt a footballing one if you cant see his strengths. You just dont like him.. you'll get over it when he gets the goals that takes us up.

Salech's stats today below. Won't put my own opinion so it's fair:

6.7 rating
6 shots - 3 on target, 3 off target
Expected goals - 1.64
Touches inside opposition box - 11
Big chances missed - 4
Aerial duals won - 7/7
Ground duels won - 1/5
2 fouls committed
0 fouls won

Re: Salech

14 goals in 34, so not far off 1 in 2 games. He's doing just fine in my view, especially as he played half a season for the worst team in the championship last season. Keep it going Yousef.

Scoring goals.

Re: Salech

He scored 9 in exactly the same amount of games last season. Both seasons strike rates eqaute to a 20 goal season. Unsure what more people want from a lone striker, up against 2 or 3 on his own, every week.

Stikers miss chances; as nornal on here, its the misses not the wins being highlighted.

Didn't attach my opinion to the stats I posted, but my opinion is similar to this.

I don't think the comparisons to Moore are fair.

Moore is 33 and Salech is 23.

He has a lot to learn but he's the right age to learn stuff and is probably about three years from the peak age for strikers.

Not when he was playing for Forest Green Rovers, he was close to that peak period when he signed for us, he is now the downgrade, but we had the start of him knowing what the game is about, especially when he had Wilson loading the bullets
