About Burnley

Burnley are now back in the Premier League.

They got promoted from the Championship last season, finishing second.

They are 16th in the PL, with four points from their five games.

Club Connections

Tom Heaton is one player who has played for both clubs.

The Opposition's Manager

Scott Parker was appointed Burnley manager last summer.

He had a successful first season by achieving promotion.

That was his third promotion to the Premier League.

Opposition Dangerous Players

With so many changes expected, it's hard to pinpoint any particular player.

But as they are two divisions above us, they obviously have loads of players that can do damage.

Referee

TBC.

We lost both our league fixtures against Burnley last season.

We haven't won any of the last five meetings, with them winning four.

Both teams are expected to make a lot of changes.

Last Game

We lost 3-1 at home to Bradford on Saturday.

Burnley drew 1-1 at home to Nottingham Forest on the same day.

Burnley take a slight break from league action tomorrow night when they host Cardiff City in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Scott Parker is expected to ring the changes, just as he did in the last round for the 2-1 victory over Derby County.

The Clarets boss made all 11 changes, while not a single player that featured in the previous league game was even named in the squad.

Burnley face a Bluebirds side that are going well in League One, although they did suffer a 3-1 home defeat to table-topping Bradford City on Saturday.

1. Zeki Amdouni (Burnley) - out
The forward is expected to remain sidelined for the foreseeable future after being forced to undergo surgery during the summer on a crucial ligament tear.

2. Jordan Beyer (Burnley) - out
The defender is now sidelined with a hamstring problem having just recovered from a long-standing knee injury, which has kept him out of action since December 2023.

3. Jacob Bruun Larsen (Burnley) - doubt
The Dane has missed Burnley’s last two games with a sore heel on his return from international duty.

4. Connor Roberts (Burnley) - out
It had been hoped the Welshman would have made his return after the international break, but Parker confirmed he’s still facing a few more weeks on the sidelines.

I honestly think we could win this on our day and everyone at it with our first 11 dependong on what team they put out of course but I doubt we be anywhere near the first 11 nor will they be starting there's I doubt, let's hope we don't get a hiding that's the main thing and put on a decent showing :bluescarf:

Agree, it'll be weakened team from both I expect.

As long as we can keep it down to a defeat by two goals then I'll be fine with that.

Anything else is a bonus.

Minute's silence before kick off for Matt Beard. He was a women's football manager who sadly took his own life at the weekend.

What happens if it ends in a draw?

If the match ends in a draw, there will be no extra time, we would go straight to penalties.

The minute’s silence for the passing of Matt Beard is impeccably observed by supporters of both sides!

The game kicks off and we look to maintain a high press, which bodes well for our intent this evening, and Callum Robinson has an early chance go just wide! :ayatollah:

Joel Colwill drills a low cross. Joe Worrall cuts it out but concedes a throw. Good from Cardiff to work that opening.

Robinson unlucky not to score early on, great effort.

Genuinely can't work out if you want us to be successful or not.

Another pathetic comment from you but unfortunately we've become used to that.

A couple of times when we've won the ball back rather than get forward fast we slow it down by going backwards.

We seem good and structured out of possession, but when we have it we almost seem too structured, nobody in front is moving much, our only options to pass seems to be backwards.

We have the defence split with a great cross field pass, and then before getting it into the mixer they pass backwards, and they have reset the defence.

We look comfortable in the game but we haven’t threatened at all

A rare Burnley attack sees Lucas Pires's deflected cross land at the feet of Zian Flemming, who hits one first time from near the penalty spot. Calum Chambers slides in and blocks tremendously!

That was one pass to the winger & the next pass into the box. Something we don't do.
