MY VIEW: TODAY WAS BY FAR CARDIFF’S WORST PERFORMANCE OF THE SEASON AND IT WAS AWFUL BUT SALECH SAVED THE DAY WITH A LAST MINUTE EQUALISER

First attempt on target by Cardiff

BBM: Chambers and Ng started. Lawlor and Kpakio on bench ??

For me BBM got it totally wrong today starting NG and Chambers, Lawlor and Kpakio have been fantastic this season.

How the hell did we get a point?

Cardiff continue their unbeaten run

First time this season Cardiff have faced a Top 12 team and I have to say it was an awful performance by City.

To be fair Stockport closed us down and stopped us playing.

It took Cardiff 84mins to get a corner.

UPFRONT CITY DID VIRTUALLY NOTHING

NO balls in to Salech until 95mins

None of the usual good passing?

When we brought our triple subs on we finally went forward

FIRST-HALF : 9 shots 3 on target for Stockport 0 for Cardiff.

Stockport 6 Corners Cardiff 0

Cardiff could of been 3nil down

The first 25 mins Stockport managed to stop Cardiff’s usual good passing and had a few chances hitting the post in the 25th min.
Cardiff had not had a shot at this stage.
31min Great Save by Trott.

34min NG clumsy gives away a penalty 1-0 County and deserved the lead.

Stockport well deserved their lead.

SECOND-HALF : Not much better than the first half.

Stockport got Trott to make a save, then finally in the 52nd minute Cardiff get a shot but off target by Colwill

64mins Ashford off Davies on

Joel Colwill off Turnbull on

73mins Triple Sub:
Ronan, Callum and Dylan replace Perry Ng, Ryan Wintle and Calum Chambers.

Then Stockport make triple Sub.

Salech 95th min header 1-1

CARDIFF ARE NOW THE ONLY UNDEFEATED TEAM IN DIV 3 :bluebird: :bluebird:

STOCKPORT 1 CARDIFF CITY 1
H-T 1-0

Chambers and Ng start. Lawlor and Kpakio on bench. Osho on bench too. No Kellyman.

Cardiff XI: Trott; Ng, Fish, Chambers, Bagan; Wintle, J. Colwill, R. Colwill; Ashford, Salech, Willock.

Subs: Turner, Osho, Lawlor, Kpakio, Turnbull, Davies, Robinson.

Not a great performance but a great smash & grab at the end for a point.

We still haven't conceded a goal from open play either.

How about we give Stockport some credit than criticize our performance. Thought they were outstanding. Pressed and bullied us everywhere. But we kept going and that goal is huge for Salech. We need to be better than this for sure but that was one of the hardest away games we will have this year.

Disagree that it was the worst of the season, Port Vale was much worse.

Didn't play well but got a result, a sign of a good team.

Have to give credit to Stockport, they did everything well and will be up there again this season.

Still top of the league. Still unbeaten. Still haven't conceded a goal from open play.

Never lost 2 games in row for 4yrs that's how hard a task it was? Any point away is good point no matter what league your in...and once again no goals conceded from open play... so despite the performance we are top of league! :occasion5:

We fought until the end today and got a very good draw. We weren’t on top of our game, but credit has to go the Dave Challinor’d Stockport County team!

What I feel we learned from this game is that we need a strong first XI and should use it as often as we can. The substitutes, some of whom should maybe have started, made a difference and we got a welcome outcome against the beast ‘team’ we’ve played to date this season!

Credit to them and credit to us! We didn’t give up and got our reward!

Going up.

Absolute shocking performance but strangely it seems like a win. They could have scored 4 or 5 but didn’t and we nicked one in the end.
We have to learn to play a bit more League 1 no nonsense style football away from home.
Still undefeated :bluescarf:

This was up there with the Port Vale game, and the officials didn’t help to make it any better. It makes you realize about the senior players that took us down last season, and how refreshing it is to have these youth players come through. It wasn’t for long, but I felt more comfortable with Lawlor and kpakio, they’re a big part of getting us on the ball and playing forward. Still the positives, we are top of the league, haven’t lost, and only conceded 2 goals by penalties.

It wasn’t ‘great’, but it wasn’t ‘shocking’ either!

We got a result against a very good team today! :ayatollah:

There’s also the intentional break curse, we never seem to do that well after that.

Totally agree, we got team selection wrong, we were awful but kept going and got a point, which we didn’t deserve at all.

We were awful today bbm got it wrong we could all see that but every supporter stuck with the team until the end there was no booing we just kept behind them and when that went in all hell broke loose players in with the fans it just felt like we were all together and that could be a crucial point come the end of the season

We were awful but got a point. The players kept going until the very end. We won't be at our best every game and points like this will be important come the end of the season.

Huge game Saturday now, hopefully see a crowd above 23k ... players deserve it after the start they've made.

Bbm will hopefully know more about certain players today and who’s his strongest starting line . And that wasn’t it.
Very lucky in the end and over the moon for salech

Manager picked the wrong team. You could see when the subs came on we started to play better. Lawlor should never be sub- chambers not as mobile. Will be glad when the Chelsea wing is fit as our wingers were poor. Rubin Colwill was given the ball too much in dangerous areas.

Really happy with that.

To get on top of us, you need to go all in, and that's not the first time our opponents have been dead on their feet at the end.

Fegie's team in their pomp "KNEW" they would score in the end, what a habit to get into.

We'll meet more physical teams, we'll meet skillful, fast teams, but i doubt we'll meet another team like Stockport who have the balance just about right.

We don't know what going on inside the club Players carrying knocks after international games maybe
It's nice, to have, a, decent bench. Football is no longer an 11 man game

Re: MY VIEW: TODAY WAS BY FAR CARDIFF’S WORST PERFORMANCE OF

Sat Sep 13, 2025 4:43 pm

It also felt to me when turnbull came on we took control of the midfield a bit better which allowed us to move 10 yards up the field and create overloads down the wings

It was on a par with Port Vale but Stockport are a better side. Ashford should have been subbed first half, his body language is all wrong and has no impact. Definitely should have got beat but Stockport made mistake of wasting time and trying to hold the 1 0. Feels like a win and I just love an injury time goal.

Re: MY VIEW: TODAY WAS BY FAR CARDIFF’S WORST PERFORMANCE OF

Sat Sep 13, 2025 4:49 pm

We were lucky today, not because Stockport were good, we made them good,NG, crap,Chambers out of position, as CB rubbish, we were nervous at the back and it spread throughout the team, R Colwill didn't have the freedom because he had to cover NG & Chambers, at least we didn't lose and dragged it back.
