About AFC Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon were formed in 2002 as a phoenix club, following the scandalous approval to move the original club to Milton Keynes.

They started off in the ninth tier and got to the National League within seven years. Their first promotion to the EFL followed in 2011.

Following their promotion to League One in 2016, they stayed there for six years before relegation in 2022. They returned this year to the third tier.

Club Connections

Neal Ardley, who played for us and coached our academy, spent six years at Wimbledon between 2012 and 2018.

In that time, he took them to the third tier for the first time in their history. He was also in charge both their first game and first win against MK Dons.

The Opposition's Manager

Johnnie Jackson was appointed Wimbledon manager in May 2022.

Last season, he guided them back to League One via the play-offs.

He also had a spell in charge of Charlton.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Matt Stevens scored 17 goals in League Two last season and already has two in the league this season.

Ryan Johnson is a consistent performer in defence.

Referee

David Rock will referee this game.

Last season, he took charge of 30 games, showing 124 yellow cards - an average of 4.1 cards per game.

The majority of those games were in League One and League Two.

Head To Head - last five meetings

Our only previous game against AFC Wimbledon was in August 2015.

It was an EFL Cup game which we won 1-0 at CCS thanks to a goal from Craig Noone.

BBM:

“I’ve been to the Wimbledon stadium a few times, I think they’re really strong at home,” Barry explained. “We have to show that we can go to these grounds away from home and be much more competitive than we were against Port Vale.

“I thought the supporters were brilliant. They were very patient with us last Thursday and I thought it was really great to feel that. I would just hope that they have seen signs of what we can achieve.

"We need to show that we have improved from what we did at Port Vale to what we do at Wimbledon, in what is going to be a hostile and high level test.”

This game will be a test for us and a chance to put in a better performance than the last away game at Port Vale .

Has anybody got suggestions of where's best to park around the stadium? The Wimbledon website was unhelpful - I'm happy with walking a fair distance to get to the stadium from where my car is parked. And happy to pay for parking, just struggling to find paid car parks near the area.

Any help appreciated!

Stevenage V Port Vale

I am interested to see how that plays out , if port vale play like they did against us as they are home and Stevenage have won all 3 of their games so far .

For away fans attending matches at AFC Wimbledon's Plough Lane stadium, parking is very limited, with no spaces inside the ground itself. It is strongly recommended that away supporters utilize public transport, as nearby streets have controlled parking zones and restrictions

Several public car parks are available in central Wimbledon, including Broadway car park, St George's Road car park, and Queens Road car park. These are a 30-minute walk from the stadium

Be aware of controlled parking zones (CPZs) in the area. Some streets may have restrictions, including permit-only bays

London is notorious for parking restrictions and the fines that follow for parking in the wrong place, so public car parks are recommended, or consider using a Park and Ride from just outside the metropolis

I have used the London Underground (TfW) from Hounslow West Park and Ride previously and the journey takes a little over an hour with changes

Hope that helps! :ayatollah:

The designated pub for away supporters is The Woodman on Durnsford Road at Wimbledon Park, close to the District line Underground station.

We look forward to welcoming Cardiff City supporters to Plough Lane and wish everyone a safe journey.

This would be turnbulls third start in a week, and is known for his hamstring issues so I'd say bbm is playing it safe, it's great we have the players to be able to switch in and out when needed and not weaken the starting 11

If we play like we do at home I'll be surprised if we win because it will be a different game I'm sure tonight depending on what Wimbledon are instructed to do.

Rotherham sat off us at home, Port vale was in our faces at there's and we should of been battered to be fair but we wasn't by some miracle. Just feel the tippy tappy stuff at the back which goes from one side of the back line to the other about 6 times then to our goalkeeper won't work if Wimbledon start with pressuring us on every pass at the back and we all know we have been lucky and got away with a few f**k ups this season already doing it. Bbm has to change it if that's what goes on after ten minutes. Although they may sit off and it will work like at home. We will soon see. :bluescarf:

Positive start from the Bluebirds, who are dominating and have had some joy down the left through Tanner. Joel Colwill has been found twice in good positions on the edge of the box, but just couldn't squeeze out a chance.

I hate this new system they're using for the Citytv, it's an absolute nightmare to use, or not use as the case seems to be.

City on top in the early stages

Should have had a penalty

Passing it better than at Port Vale

As I type that, a misplaced pass and a corner given away
