Mafico

Sat Aug 16, 2025 2:57 pm

Sad to say out of his depth today.

Relieved we didn't wait until half time to take him off because he was a walking red card.

This should be a learning curve for him.

Definitely out of his depth.

Right decision to bring him off.

Re: Mafico

Sat Aug 16, 2025 3:02 pm

Yea he struggled and was the right decision to bring him off but he will learn a lot from that today and will hopefully make him a better player in the future

We really need a left back to challenge bagan

Re: Mafico

Should be down to ten men.

Should have had a penalty.

He didn't & we didn't so there you go.

Give him a chance. He's a kid. Hopefully he will learn from this experience

Penalties can be a judgement call, that was a blatant yellow card for a player who already had a yellow card.

Every decision the ref makes is a judgment call. FFS

He Learnt more about what's expected of him than we learnt of what he's capable of.

A foul when a player is breaking up the pitch is ruled as a yellow isn’t it? The penalty could have gone either way.

Re: Mafico

As far as I know the ref on the pitch makes the decision not you or me and right or wrong in our opinion makes zero difference.

If it was the other way when the score was one nil we would 100% be kicking off. But you are right. It’s what the ref says that counts.

We certainly can’t complain about referees this season.

Re: Mafico

I thought the reg was poor today and given the ease of the victory that may seem harsh, just thought he was very inconsistent

The yellow was harsh imo. Right decision to take him off but defo not a 2nd yellow he turned his back and barely touched him for foul just after yellow

Re: Mafico

Sat Aug 16, 2025 4:47 pm

Some may say I'm harsh on Mafico but it's no coincidence that we took control when Bagan came on.

I'm sure Mafico will come back stronger, but that was a big learning curve for him today.

I honestly thought he was 1 of the better refs we've had of late

Did hs best had to play out of position to help the team, It didn't work. We will sign a left back very soon.

Overall, what a great game though :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Hard but good lesson learnt for him today.

Should have been sent off.

Right decision to take him off, a lot of managers would have waited until half time.

We've had softer pens given against us, that was a penalty, never mind we didn't even need it.

Never two yellows in my opinion, one was harsh.

Right decision to take him off and he will learn, really good reception from the fans as he walked off :ayatollah:

Re: Mafico

I was totally bemused Bagan was dropped, as he's done absolutely nothing wrong. That's Turner and Bagan who have been unfairly dropped for no reason this season.

It was also totally unfair to throw Mafico in who hasn't played a single second of competitive senior football until today. He should have been given a run out in our cup match to have a fair introduction to help him.

I hope today doesn't affect him too negatively. I'm not going to criticise him at all. He's been managed very badly and unfairly.

Bagan hasn’t been well I think BBM explains in interview

Yes, just read it. Bagan was in A&E Thursday night with chest pains, so I retract my comment. A lesson for me to wait until the post match interviews.

I also thought the fans reactions to clapping him off was tremendous. I'm sure he will learn from today and come back stronger.

I'd never criticise an 18 year old on his first match at this level.
He got stuck in but it wasn't to be his day.
His day will come!

Yes hence why he was brought off before he got sent off.

Its too early to start him and I doubt we will see him in a starting lineup for a few more games, most likely a sub.

Re: Mafico

Loved the fans reaction to him as he walked around the pitch, tough day for him but the correct decision to take him off.

He did play a lovely pass between centre back and right back for Tanner to cross and Salech was unlucky not to get on the end of it.

Where was Giles? I thought he would be 2nd choice left back

Agree fans were fantastic mate :ayatollah: I was wondering the same thing why Bagan wasn’t starting glad it’s nothing serious :ayatollah:

Re: Mafico

I'm not a fan of playing players out of position especially youngsters making their first team debut!

I'd like to think that the ref didn't book him for the second foul because he realised he'd made a mistake booking him in the first place.

We need to get a proper left back to challenge Bagan.

Thought BBM hit the right note by praising Mafico in his post match conference and I would like to see Mafico start in the League Cup against Cheltenham but in his correct position!

I think the ref saw Bagan getting his kit on and decided to let the second foul go because he knew Mafico was coming off.

It was interesting that BBM made a point after the match saying it wasn't Mafico's normal position.

Think we'll see him in his normal position of CM next time he plays.

I was very proud of the fans' reaction.
