Are any of us optimistic this campaign?

Sat Jun 28, 2025 11:31 am

Myself, I am a tad bit optimistic
I'm happy with BBM appointment and I feel what we have all wanted for sometime now is a manager who is going develop and utilise the youth for Cardiff's benefit rather than sending players who should be pushing for first team action out on loan.
I am extremely hopeful for Joel Colwill this season and was disappointed to see him sent away last year.
But we have some decent youngsters esp with Joel, Dylan Lawlor and Kpakio who I feel could be a real gem.

If we can keep Salech, Robertson and maybe bring in some young talent on loan, I feel this season could be very interesting and promising.

I was kind of glad to see us go down, just for the purpose of us cutting some significant dead wood and rebuild a better future. :bluebird: :occasion5: :ayatollah:

Apologies in advance for positive vibe

I’m really not sure. My heart says yes. But it always does. What worries me is a lot of people here were adamant we needed an experienced manager to get out of league we however have a very inexperienced manager who when he did manage did not do well so remind me of the route Riza took. But everyone has to learn some where so hopefully this guy is the one.

As long as we don’t go down again and show a movement to a more expansive style of play and blood in the youngsters I’d consider this season a success.

I genuinely think the toxicity around the club - more so if Tan continues to refuse Bale - will have us in a far worse position than people are anticipating.

I'm not this squad got no fight In it and an owner who is a clown. Of course I hope we do well but the past few seasons have drained the optimism out of me.

Not me, i think the football expert aka Tan will try and do it on the cheap. We will no doubt lose quite a few players who wont be up for the fight (just like last season) and replace them with freebies on low wages, i can see a relegation battle if this happens. New owners who know football, respect our club and want to take us forward would be a totally different outcome.

I don't know , if the crown jewels are sold and Tan don't spend the right amount in replacements, ? I will wait and see

Not at all, other than the manager and some trainers, nothing has changed since last years debacle.
The squad has got weaker with no sign of any fresh faces on the horizon.
None of the squad showed an inkling of fight lady year and in league 1 thats what is needed the most to compete.
I think we will do well to be mid table, hope I'm proved wrong but just cannot see it.

Watch Paul. Tan believe it or not still has 5% of our fans up his arse and won’t like you saying this.

Nothing will improve or change till Vincent Tan has gone, a Fact.

No

Re: Are any of us optimistic this campaign?

Not at the moment for no other reason than no matter who is in charge of the team the clowns are still running the show. No doubt I will be more optimistic come kick off time because that's what we do every season, start out with high hopes.

Re: Are any of us optimistic this campaign?

I believe our season hinges on Salechs future, he is our most valuable asset and if we sell him its clear to me we are not serious about promotion.

Re: Are any of us optimistic this campaign?

Sat Jun 28, 2025 1:28 pm

I honestly think we will struggle next season, I am all for playing the youngsters but think we will play too many because the experienced heads will likely be sold on, just cant see any proper talent or leadership being brought in which will cost money.
The squad will be thinned out that much that too many of last years u21s will be required to play first team football and the step up will be too much for them. Think Newport County will be our local derby for many years to come, sorry for being so negative but thats all I can foresee at this moment in time.

Annis, Cardiff City can not move forward until Tan is removed from the club.

If Tan doesn’t interfere and allows BBM to make all decisions, gets players he wants in the. Ideally we should walk this league. If it’s another rinse and repeat cycle then unfortunately we’ll either be mid table or relegation contenders

Re: Are any of us optimistic this campaign?

As it stands I think we've got a decent quality championship squad playing in league one so you've gotta be optimistic. We've got a few gaps in the team to plug obviously but there aren't many squads in this division better than ours.

It's all down to whether the manager and his staff can get the best out if them now. And it's the staff bit that I worry about.

Last season it was really really embarrassing watching Riza and his coaching team trying to motivate these players. Ramsey in his end of season speech mentioned that a manager needs good people around him with good work ethics that need to lead by example to create the right culture. It seemed to me that he was basically implying just how bad/awful/unprofessional Riza's coaches were - we all seen it with our own eyes, them pratting about on the sidelines while us fans were staring relegation in the face.

BBM has so far bought one guy with him, that's it. So that will be our downfall this year unless things change over the next few weeks. And even then, these things should have ideally been sorted out on BBM's appointment not a few weeks before the season is set to start. It's all too slow.

Tan knows best though!

Amazing times are coming for our club.....manifest Bale taking us over from Tan and winning the league with quality football and youth....

I think we have a great manager in the making on our hands.

But we will lose a lot of players. So depends on how we recruit this year.

Get me that 6, winger, CB etc. etc., potentially more 8’s if we lose Turnbull and Robertson.

Ideally we can get players in soon and get them playing how BBM wants them to.

I think we could start the season with some hiccups and then eventually find our form, but Tan doesn’t have a clue so likely will get shot of people sooner than he should.
