Aaron Ramsey is willing to give up his Wales Career for the Player Managers Job at Cardiff City
Also he’s told the board he’s willing to take the job.
I am so unsure about this ????

Awesome. That’s the best news I’ve heard for months.

That surely means ‘
discussions’ have taken place at some level?
I’m not as against it as many are; particularly if he has 100% focus on the one role, i.e. manager/coach, and with a good team around him that preferably doesn’t include the abrasive (towards the younger players) Darren Purse
It would so explain why he is now neck and neck with Buckingham in the betting

Choice between the 2? I’d go for Buckingham but will support Ramsey (and anyone else) 100%

Ive just looked and in the last hour has drifted out from 11/8 back to 2/1, have the bookies got it wrong ??

He's got less experience than Riza, in fact he's got none what so ever.
Wed Jun 04, 2025 7:36 pm
Huge huge huge risk. If it works then great but he has no experience.

If what you say is true Annis, then he has obviously gone away and given it some serious thought because his stance at the end of the season was very clear that he needed to prove to himself that he could keep on playing, fitness wise, to eventually & hopefully appear at the upcoming world cup.
He was also qouted as saying that in his opinion that you cant have it both ways in terms of a player manager role, hes on record as saying " It needs to be one or the other, you can't do both". I remember watching the interview in which he said that, he was repeatedley asked questions about him taking the job you could see he was conflicted in his answers.
I suppose on one hand I think he thinks he can do the job and he'd enjoy it being a supporter of the club himself, first step after his playing career, new chapter etc... but on the other hand hes reluctant to call time on playing football just yet and maybe he knows that its a very tough & demanding job for anyone let alone a first managment job.
So from what your saying and have heard Annis, his stance has completly changed on being player manager?
Will be a very mixed reaction from fans if he ends up being appointed. I certainly dont think the time is right for him at this moment but will support him nonetheless, like we all should, if he is indeed appointed.

Not what we need... likely what we'll do.

So if this is true we hire a consultant firm and 2 others to get a long list of possibilities before knocking it down to 3 and then despite no experience whatsoever of management and particularly no knowledge of lower leagues we appoint a person who is already on our books. This means virtually little extra cost to Tan and Ramsey has to make decisions going forward on recent teammates. In addition I know of no other player manager in the EFL. How does he pick himself above others particularly if he doesn’t play well?
By the way I like Ramsey greatly but not an appointment like this at this particular time. A disaster if it happens.

Always been my choice. You don't have to be a shouty arsehole to get things done either. And, he's one of our own.
Wed Jun 04, 2025 7:43 pm
Really hope not it's Ramsey could be a huge mistake by player and the clubit really could tarnish his reputation and our affection for him
Wed Jun 04, 2025 7:46 pm
Wouldn't be my choice.
I think an inexperienced manager can work - actually, we know it can because it did for Birmingham.
But probably need a Sporting Director or something like that to help him. If they give him that then it makes it more palatable.
If he stops playing then I can be more positive about it.
I wasn't particularly positive about the prospect of a player/manager.

Good point about the money we wasted on that agency - if it's Ramsey.

Remember what glen hoodle did for Swindon I can definitely see Ramsey in the same mould.

Agreed. This guy has already proved his love for the club and has played at the highest level.
If he gets the job it might work, it might not, but if he does fail it won’t be for lack of effort of love for the club.
I wanted him appointed when Bulut left, I really hope fit us, and Rambo, that this happens and works.

He also hasn’t got previous failures on his CV like Riza had !!
Wed Jun 04, 2025 7:51 pm
Not for me we need someone with more experience
Wed Jun 04, 2025 7:51 pm
Surely this means a DOF will be appointed and there will be money for backround staff and players.
I dont mind the wales coach coming in but not sure about Gunter
Wed Jun 04, 2025 7:53 pm
could be good and the player respect him a lot
would love to see jack willshere along side him!!! i could see this happening

Disagree about Gunter I have to say Roger.
Doing a good job with Wales U19s (don't know if he'd want to coach full time with us because of that job he has).
He's also best mates with Ramsey so they'd have a good working relationship.

Wouldn't be too disappointed with ramsey but would prefer jones

I’d support him 100% and what better place to gain experience than in league 1 I guess. He has to start somewhere.
But PLEASE. Give him the support and team he needs to grow and develop

Ned a big difference between under 19's and a league club just been relegated and Ramsey as an inexperienced coach, will have to wait and see, but to me having an inexperienced team might be a recipe for disaster, I really hope not and will support them all the way
Wed Jun 04, 2025 8:08 pm
A batshit crazy idea
Wed Jun 04, 2025 8:08 pm
Not Good news. We need a proven manager to get us out of this league not take a punt again. We do the same thing every time. All talk and no action. I love Ramsey but not as manager. I wanted Rob Edwards but out of Ramsey, Buckingham and Murphy, I’d take the others before Ramsey
Wed Jun 04, 2025 8:18 pm
I agree with igovenor if this is true surely an experience football man is coming in to help as this is what Aaron said was a must when he spoke at the end of season awards. surely he wouldn't take the job without some form of agreement to that effect in place

llan bluebird wrote:A batshit crazy idea
Why’s that then any particular reason?

I'm a big Ramsey fan, loves the club the same as most on here but I'm really unsure on this, would hate to see the fans turn on him & you know that will happen eventually. Hopefully he's given the support as well as the backing that he needs to be successful & this isn't just a way to stop/quell the fan protests going into the new season & to sell more season tickets.
Whoever the new manager is they will get my support & unlike most I don't know enough about any of the prospects to have a strong opinion one way or the other.
