My HP Sauce just told me that he’s seen a message from the former Bolton boss saying that he is going to be our next manager.
I don’t know much about him other than he’s the ex Bolton gaffer and is available with lower league experience.

Got Barrow and Bolton promotions and EFL Trophy.
Seen him in the gym at Chesterfield and he’s a unit that won’t take prisoners.

Did well at both Barrow and Bolton, has experience in the lower leagues and would likely be in our price range.
I wouldn’t be unhappy if there was any truth in this.

My mate saw a text message from Evatt to his mate saying he’s been offered the job. This is in Manchester. One of them if a Blackpool fan (Evatt’s mate) and one a Wigan fan (who I know well) so they have no reason to make him his up. We will find out soon no doubt.

Dont know what to make of this, if true.
He does have a 49.81% win rate across 261 matches across 5 years at Bolton.
To include draws he achieved 57.21% of the total points available. So across a 46 game season this would average 79 points which would be enough for 6th place.
On the face of it this could be good?

He went in at 2/1 favourite with the bookies last night and a few bookies have stopped taking bets this morning might mean nothing but I'm sure we will find out soon enough
Mon May 19, 2025 10:17 am
Apparently he likes attacking football and to put games to bed after taking the lead instead of going defensive.
We need someone like this.

The only downside I am not sure he would be the right man if and when we did return to the Championship

In the 2023/24 season his Bolton team scored 86 goals, think I'd be quite happy with that lol

That's because VT wasn't involved in him achieving those stats!

God I couldnt cope with a 6th place play off, I can only accept top 2 to be honest, the worry of play offs after Blackpool just doesnt do it for me.
Mon May 19, 2025 11:45 am
Me too. Top 2 has to be a must next season.
But that said the way I look at those stats he achieved that with a much weaker team than he will inherit with us.
I would certainly like to watch a side score 86 goals next season. Attacking football rather than the defensive hold on to a 1-0 lead crap that we have been used to.

Interesting one, he does at least know the league.
Wouldn't be one of my first choices when it comes to realistic options.
But better than someone with no experience.
He has a bit of a short fuse too, here's a video of him headbutting an opposition player this season when he was Bolton manager:

If it is true, and there must be some truth in it as the bookies all have him as evens favourite, or have stopped taking bets, then an announcement must be imminent from the club, otherwise it will look once again bad.

Like I said, Iblive in Manchester and this was a conversation between locals who have nothing to do with Cardiff City. Evatt had messaged one of the lads so it’s from the horse’s mouth. I’m not in the know. Just passing on the info.
Sounds like he’s way better than most of our recent managers.

Ned I dont think it looks like a head but, but like players putting their two heads tother like fighing bulls locking horns

He totally lost the dressing room at Bolton. Not a good man manager and very stubborn in his ways.
Thats from inside knowledge at Bolton

If he can do that well at Bolton with a struggling club and a dressing room that he lost, then that goes to show how well he knows the lower leagues in my opinion.
As for him being a hothead Ned, it’s about time that we had a manager with some passion and will stand up to Tan. I see that as a positive also if I’m honest.

Yes Dave,
It’s true they have chatted to him.

although wouldn't surprise me with these idiots in charge

If you don’t know who he is then why make a comment basically saying that we would be idiots to have him?
Mon May 19, 2025 4:43 pm
If it's true looks like a no nonsense manager!

Because some people expect Zidane

I'd be happy with this if it comes off,
I wouldn't read too much into the negative comments Bolton fans are making about him coz they seem to all agree that the first 3 years he was brilliant
it all seemed to go downhill after they lost the playoffs
I think things just got a bit stale between him and Bolton so I think him coming to us will be a breath of fresh air for him(and us)
Mon May 19, 2025 6:03 pm
Ian Evatt played for Blackpool 3-2 City in the 2010 Championship play-off final
Mon May 19, 2025 6:10 pm
So he's a winner then
Mon May 19, 2025 7:09 pm
Living in Wigan I have lots of friends in Blackpool and Bolton and they all speak well about him.
Seems like he played a couple of days ago, for Blackpool, in a charity match

Never heard of him before loggin on here, but after a little google search, I am pleasantly surprised. This is the profile I think we should be looking for. Unfashionable guys with form in the book. Deserves a chance with a bigger club (we are, it's not the 1920's anymore) and squads can go stale unless you do a Fergie mini rebuild every other season.

Still not what I'd expect a manager to do though Roger

But his record in L1 is half decent so he's not as bad as some are making out.
Mon May 19, 2025 7:29 pm
Sounds like he is the League One equivalent of Dave Jones, ie attractive football but could not deliver the big prize. That said id be ok with this. Something needs to happen soon, it's nearly June. Will we have a manager or our fixtures first?
Mon May 19, 2025 8:58 pm
League one experience, we've got better players than Bolton so why not ? .
