CRYSTAL PALACE WIN THE FA CUP
Updated
The final of the FA Cup takes place at 4.30pm today, with Crystal Palace taking on Manchester City.
Live on both BBC One and ITV1.
Personally I hope Palace win it. Would be good to have a different team lifting the trophy.

I am of the opposite view. I have never liked Palace since the rivalry we had with them in the 70's. Think it goers back to watching the Big Match on a Sunday and they were flavour of the month. We sent them down one year in a winner takes all game at Ninian Park and though we then went down ourselves the following season, we then pipped them for promotion back into the old Second Division . We beat them at Selhurst Park in front of 25,000. Malcom Alison was so miffed he publicly implied they were a bigger club than us and we would never get 25,000 for a game. Following Wednesday we got 36,000 for home game against Hereford which we won 2-0 in what was then the old Third Division!!
City directors sent the cigar smoking, champagne swilling Cockney a crate of champagne as a thank you gift for helping to swell the crowd and gee up our team.

That's well before my time on this planet.
Although I did enjoy beating them in the EFL Cup semi final after Dougie Freedman said we were "stiff scared" of success.
The chant of "Dougie Freedman, we're not f*cking scared" was one of our best.

Interesting fact only 44 teams have won the fa cup since it was formed so we are in a very select group of clubs....which makes are 3 appearances a great achievement as well...

Palace 1-0 up.
It's been all City but Palace break well with Munoz and a great finish by Eze.
Eze is some player.

Palace keeper a bit lucky not to be sent off.

Palace fans brilliant. We need to learn from them. They probably haven’t got the gestapo watching them every home game though.

What a load of bollocks is var ! Goalie clearly handles ball outside area to stop haarland getting ball....ball is inline with six yard box but var says it was running away from goal so "NOT" denying goal scoring opportunity? Ffs the ball was almost stationary absolutely awful decision making by var

Their fans are brilliant to be fair. Similar to fans of European clubs, in the style that we don't see much of in the UK.

Question is whether Haaland would have got a shot away. I think he would so should be off.
Penalty to Man City now.

Henderson saves Marmoush's penalty.
I thought Mitchell got the ball anyway and it shouldn't have been a penalty.

Ned goalie fisted ball off haarlands foot....what happens after that is irrelevant ..... then var says defender didn't play ball for pen yet tv clearly shows defender touches ball so var factually wrong ...but think still a pen... var are having a blinder..

HT: Palace 1-0 City
Eze's brilliant goal the difference.
Beginning to think that this is Palace's day.
Henderson should be off but since then has made two big saves, including from the penalty - which shouldn't have been given.

Madness how Dean Henderson wasn't sent off for this

Palace had 19% possession in the first half.

Good point by Shearer.
Said that nobody would stop him taking a penalty in the cup final.
Strange how Haaland gave it to Marmoush.

But like Shearer said, you're the main striker and don't give away the chance to take a penalty.

I'll be honest i am not sure if it's my rugby background, but the keeper was in his box, when he used his hands.
No idea of the finer points of the laws written pre-freeze frame VAR.

2-0 Palace.
Munoz with the goal.

Disallowed by VAR - offside.

I might be going early on this but it looks like Man City are running out of ideas.
20 minutes to go.

Definitely ned last 10 mins no threat inside area all 30yrds out
Sat May 17, 2025 5:20 pm
Ten added minutes.
Palace still lead 1-0.
Sat May 17, 2025 5:22 pm
10 mins is criminal.
They need to stop the clock like rugby, far too much external interference with VAR and extra time.
Sat May 17, 2025 5:25 pm
Eze is an unbelievable player, he won't be at Palace next season.

Buzzing for Palace.
Their fans deserve it, been brilliant.

Looks like cheating pays off.
The FA cup gets devalued again.
