Today's other games

Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:00 pm

This weekend sees the penultimate round of fixtures in the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship season.

The majority of the games take place on Saturday, with one on Friday and one on Monday.

Cardiff and Plymouth could be relegated. Full permutations below.

Other things to be decided are two teams could secure their play-off place and Leeds could effectively win the title.

So far, we know Leeds and Burnley have been promoted to the Premier League. Sheffield United and Sunderland will be joined in the play-offs by two others.

This weekend's Championship fixtures and results - kick off 3pm on Saturday unless stated

Blackburn Rovers v Watford

Cardiff City v West Bromwich Albion

Hull City v Derby County

Leeds United v Bristol City (8pm, Monday)

Luton Town 1-0 Coventry City

Middlesbrough v Norwich City

Millwall v Swansea City

Oxford United v Sunderland

Preston North End v Plymouth Argyle

QPR 0-5 Burnley

Sheffield Wednesday v Portsmouth

Stoke City 0-2 Sheffield United

Championship permutations this weekend

League Title

Because of their goal difference, Leeds will effectively win the title if they win and Burnley lose.

Top Six

Bristol City will secure their play-off place if they match the result of Middlesbrough, Millwall and Blackburn.

Coventry will guarantee their top six place if they win, coupled with Middlesbrough and Millwall failing to win.

Relegation

Cardiff will be effectively relegated if they lose. They will also go down if they draw and Derby avoid defeat.

Plymouth have similar permutations to Cardiff.

Hopefully in the early kick off, Coventry beat Luton - Coventry need the win to get their top six place.

Then we can just do our job and win. Would be better then if Derby beat Hull, because Hull have a tough game at Pompey on the final day.

But it's all asking a lot, so I'm not hopeful sadly - I think any real hope ended for us on Monday.

But let's hope we can at least take a possible chance to the final day.

Dont fancy our chances either to be honest and Norwich away has always been not a good ground for us and they will have new manager bounce same as WBA. :bluebird: :(

Interesting one....if City win Oxford & luton lose or draw Go to last day? City :notworthy: win Oxford lose again that should take us above them as only need 5 goal swing over both games to see is go above them... plus Luton draw or lose and we'll be safe. :laughing6:

Stoke losing 2-nil to sheff u lose last game as well ..... which means if Luton win both games they can catch them.. so in risk of relegation

The weekend begins with a 2-0 win for Sheffield United at Stoke.

Not a match that means much. Stoke could still technically get relegated, but it's very unlikely.

Yes unlikely but I thought 3 teams winning at weekend was unlikely but it happened... but if 2 results go against them it's all on last game! Of course that means city relegated as one result is Luton

It's not impossible but can't see Stoke getting dragged into it.

First one for us to keep an eye on us Luton v Coventry at lunchtime.

Good thing for us is Coventry need a result so won't be on the beach like a few other teams this weekend.

Coventry not losing would also end any slim chance WBA have of making the playoffs.

If we win, would prefer Derby to beat Hull because Hull have a tougher game on the final day.

Definitely prefer a derby win there's more chance of hull losing at pompey than derby losing at home to stoke

Typical. Everything is going against us this season….

Does it make a huge difference to us if Luton win? Providing we do.

They were three points ahead of us going into this weekend, with the same goal difference.

So if they win, we will need them to lose at WBA on the final day.

We need to overtake two teams - Luton and one of Derby/Hull.

A win for Coventry would have helped a lot.

But like I said after Monday, it's all a tall order that I can't see happening.

You've forgotten Oxford? Only 5 goal swing if they lose both and we win both will be enough to overhaul them

Didn't realise Charlton were so close to Wrexham and Wycombe, they can go 1 point behind Wrexham if they beat them later

1-0 Luton.
