West Brom are on the search for a new manager following their dismissal of Tony Mowbray after their 3-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Derby County, which all but confirmed a finish outside the top six for the Baggies.

West Brom now sit six points off the play-offs with two games remaining, and have lost five of their last six.

Life after Carlos Corberan has been a struggle, with just five wins in 18 games under Mowbray, and now West Brom will be on the hunt for a new man to try and lead them back to the Premier League for the first time since the 2020/21 season.

5 games won from the last 30 before the game Vs Oxford and then board change the manager shows how f*cking dumb they are then wonder why we are down now but change the manager with a few games left. Makes my piss boil this club :banghead:

If we win our last two games it won't make a difference tbh.

Cardiff City are fighting for their Championship survival at the foot of the table as they prepare to take on West Brom on Saturday with both sides having interim managers in the dugout.

Cardiff City remain three points adrift of safety in the Championship table after their recent stalemate against Oxford United and a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United.

Cardiff’s Championship relegation battle has been marred by managerial controversy, with Omer Riza recently departing the club, after the under-pressure head coach made some controversial comments claiming he was “happy” to lose his job.

Riza’s comments came after Neil Warnock was lined up to replace him, but the burden has fallen to former midfielder Aaron Ramsey on interim basis until the end of the season, in a decision brandished as “weird” by his ex-teammate Robert Earnshaw.

Saturday’s opponents West Brom parted ways with Tony Mowbray this week, after their play-off hopes died off, and Championship experts have had their say on which managerless side will win this weekend.
Interim Bluebirds boss Ramsey has big demands for his players, taking over the caretaker post days after Riza was removed from his role, with their chances of survival dwindling.

West Brom on the other hand, have drifted from promotion-hopefuls to mid-table despite Mowbray’s return, with their defeat to Derby County ending their play-off hopes.

Much like Riza, Mowbray left with some choice words, with the veteran head coach publicly slamming his players days before his sacking, and has also received from backlash from Baggies fans for “disgraceful” comments singling out forward Daryl Dike days before his sacking.
With both sides enduring controversial times in their respective Championship seasons, and the two sides fielding interim head coaches in Ramsey and James Morrison respectively.

Tony Mowbray’s sacking by West Brom offers Cardiff City hope
Cardiff’s hopes of survival are dwindling, with the Bluebirds on the brink of a financial abyss, if the stark reality of League One demotion comes true. Many Cardiff supporters believe it is “too little too late” and are destined for the third tier.

With West Brom now tenth in the table, their play-off hopes are dead in the water, and thus their last two fixtures against Cardiff and then at Luton Town on the final day are inconsequential to their season.

That lack of Baggies impetus bodes well for Ramsey’s side, who sit 23rd on 43 points ahead of Saturday’s round of fixtures, above rock-bottom Plymouth Argyle on goal difference but three points adrift of safety with two to go.

Ramsey’s Bluebirds need maximum points whilst relying on Hull City to beat Derby County, and also Luton to be beaten by top-six hopefuls Coventry City, which would leave the relegation-threatened trio all on 46 points and all to play for on the monumental final day.

James Morrison will lead Albion at Cardiff City this weekend. The former Scotland international made 341 appearances in his 12 years at The Hawthorns, scoring 39 goals.

Albion are on a seven-match unbeaten run in this fixture (W3, D4). Cardiff City's last victory over the Baggies was a 2-1 home triumph in January 2020.

The Baggies have kept three consecutive clean sheets against Cardiff City, last conceding a goal in this particular clash in March 2023.

No team in the Sky Bet Championship has picked up fewer points than Cardiff City's 12 in the last 15 fixtures in the second tier. The Bluebirds have won two, drawn six and lost 7 of their last 15 matches in the Sky Bet Championship.

Cardiff City could be relegated from the Championship if they lose to Albion on Saturday. The last time they played in the third tier of English football was in 2002/03.

Robinson and El Ghazi ruled out

Cardiff will go into their match against West Brom without top scorer Callum Robinson and Anwar El Ghazi.

Robinson has struggled with an Achilles injury all campaign, but has still managed to notch an impressive 12 goals for the club. Cardiff are fortunate that January signing Yousef Salech has stepped up so capably in his absence, netting seven times since his winter arrival.

2-1 City, more time for Ramsey and co to work with the team, WBA on the beach I hope conceded play offs , poor form, disgruntled fans, nothing to fight for like us though I fear the new manager bounce.

No excuses, we constantly fail to have a go at teams like this poor form in transition, lets stop the buck tomorrow, if it is third division next season for us, lets go down fighting, lets win a football match! Give us fans what we deserve, then at least I can go to Norwich with something to cling on to

I meant to say that the football being played against Oxford was no different to the way we used to play under Riza, still didnt have any ideas in the final third, goals wins you games.

Big win for Luton
Only 2 minutes at the end of there game making cardiff task even more tougher

Hull v derby
If Hull win we are relegated
If derby win we are relegated
If both draw we are relegated
All we can do is win
Been a horror season

Regardless of if we win or not

WBA made the changes ….to keep the ball on the ground . I would have chosen Meite (instead of Ashford) who is very honest …works his bollocks off and destabilizes their defense …..also it is a game we must win after Luton beating Coventry.
