' Neil Warnock is back '

Mon Feb 13, 2023 1:11 pm

UPDATED: Neil Warnock is back as a Championship manager.

It’s official: Neil Warnock confirmed as Huddersfield Towns New Manager.
BBC Sport

Huddersfield Town have reappointed Neil Warnock for his second spell as manager, with the 74-year-old coming out of retirement to take charge.

Warnock returns almost 30 years after his first stint, during which he led the Terriers to promotion via the third-tier play-offs in 1994-95.

BREAKING NEWS

Neil Warnock set to take over as new manager of Huddersfield Town, as he steps out of retirement at 74, 10 months after vowing he would NOT return so he could spend more time with wife Sharon

An announcement is expected imminently, with final details being ironed out. It is thought that Warnock will be given a contract to the end of the season, when the situation will be revisited.

After performing an apparent U-turn Warnock will return to Huddersfield, whom he first managed in 1993.

The news is likely to go down well among the fanbase. Warnock is held in high regard by supporters of the club, after overseeing promotion in 1995 in their first season at what is now known as the John Smiths' Stadium. He quit a short time after their play-off final victory.

Hes taking the Huddersfield job by all accounts, could be bad news for us because he usually has a positive effect over a short period.

Cardiff not getting Neil Warnock back will go down as another one the biggest mistakes in club’s history under this Regime . And he wanted to return.

Instead gone for someone who doesn’t look capable of getting best out of players. Huddersfield seen sense and he’ll keep them up like he does with struggling teams

It feels like it’s written in the stars that he will now send us down

It's now official and also confirmed on their website. Not good at all, he should have been with us but for some reason, it didn't happen. Was this another mistake by the board or did NW actually not want to join us? Hmmm.

Wow . Well well well. McCarthy and/or Warnock may drive the final nail in our coffin

He United the club and got as a promotion that was totally unexpected, however have always said he should have walked once he got us promoted.

That was the time for us to push on and cement a place in the premier league. Unfortunately, some of his transfer business leaves a lot to be desired and there is no smoke without fire.

What we have to do is get behind the team and the manager and get out of the mess together - starts tomorrow with 3 points.

I’ll be there

Left us in a mess , didn't do well at boro, this new job could be his 1st relegation, he's jumped ship before other teams went down .

He was not keen on Cardiff over the embargo issues. Watch how he keeps Huddersfield up.

It's his plan, get relegated then take them back up to fulfil his obsession with a record promotion.

Let’s get behind Lamouchi and hope Warnock takes Huddersfield down.

He may well produce his magic touch with Huddersfield to steer them out of trouble, but even he would struggle to do the same with the poor quality, mis-firing squad we have. :sad7:

The only people leaving and making a mess of our club is this Regime and as Dalman keeps saying ALL the decisions are made by Tan.

Four points minimum, we really need six, or Warnock will help send us down.

He’s already had 5 relegations including us and also been sacked many times !

If David Ibbotson had refused to fly under those terrible conditions, and Sala had arrived half a day late after catching the flight the club would have arranged for him, we would have stayed up.

Warnock not long ago stated he wasn’t ever returning to football as he’s retired for good :laughing6: I believe this could be a great last home game for us :bluescarf:

Spot on , the fact he was willing to come out of retirement and go up there speaks volumes for our executive management. Watched us Saturday , team full of powderpuff players . We need a team going into battle for every remaining game and we just ain’t getting it .

That’s the real sad reality of it for me as well . Our 2 top tier experiences ( of modern day ) blighted by non football related matters. The tragedy of that poor lad and our red debacle .

I cannot believe there is still some on here who slag warnock off he did not leave us in a worse mess at all he actually saved us from relegation brought a good feeling to the club and he lost to the jacks and Bristol which upset him we were actually 8th all ex players praise him and say he was the best manager they had so ex players know far more than people on here.

Just only hope if he keeps them up it is not at the cost of us we just got to get to winning ways and to be honest the way things are now we will be relegated by the last game of the season

Spot on.

Only Tans last few followers slag him.

Warnock brought in at least £120mill.

Not only saved us then got promoted.

Remember all contracts weee over seen by Tan and his committee etc etc

He is 74 now, didn't do well at Middlesbrough and has no transfer window to change that squad. For me I think they are favourites out of the bottom 6 to stay up anyway regardless of Warnock. Better squad. Blackpool, Wigan and Rotherham are the more likely target. However, its all irrelevant because City are pretty much finished and will be masters of their own relegation.

I am with you on this. There are some ungrateful so and so on this forum. He didn't get everything right but he got us to the Premier League and we probably would have stayed up but for the Sala tragedy. We were not in a mess when he left. We are now.
