MY VIEW: YOU COULD SAY TONIGHT CARDIFF GOT A CREDIBLE

Thu Dec 29, 2022 9:46 pm

MY VIEW: YOU COULD SAY TONIGHT CARDIFF GOT A CREDIBLE DRAW AWAY FROM HOME / BUT CURRENT FORM IS RELEGATION FORM & CITY CANT WIN AT HOME EITHER.

Man of the Match Cardiff’s Alsop.

The 2,000 plus Cardiff fans deserve better not another dire performance.
Crowds at home will only get worse.

If Cardiff had been winning at home, then this could be a credible away drop, but Cardiff are doing neither under Hudson and failing to score.

2 Wins from 12 games

Failed to score again

9 pts from 36 pts

Lowest scorers in the Championship

But Hudson announced this week Cardiff have solved their goal scoring problems and score in training

He praised how well City did v QPR who got hammered tonight v Luton and QPR are on an awful run.

Hudson just be honest and admit City are in a relegation battle, not a promotion battle.

The positives. Tonight defensively resolute. Return of Isaak Davies and the blue army. You sounded superb Cardiff fans.

Mark Hudson and Glen Williams aka Dalman will say that’s 4 games undefeated, but 4 pts from 12 pts or say 9pts from 36pts is a relegation team.

COVENTRY CITY 0 CARDIFF CITY 0
H-T 0-0
Crowd 21,421
Away Support 2,182 Cardiff fans

First-Half: Cardiff played some neat football and at times were the better team, they got the ball to striker Mark Harris, but time and time again his final shots was so lame.

But Coventry looked far more likely to score, they were close several times.

Second-Half: it was virtually all Coventry City, with Cardiff City’s Alsop having to make some good saves.

67th min Colwill off, Ojo on.

Philogene off, Whyte on.

Coventry were this half having long periods of controlling the game.

71st min: Sang on for Romeo.

78th min Isaak Davies replaced Mark Harris who once again failed to score.

Bah humbug. Yes, the bigger picture is no goals and no win but this was a very credible point against a side who are very good at home. We played tonight without our two strikers. Any team would struggle without their best front pairing. We are picking up points and are hard to beat. Glass half full says that's a good result tonight and we've moved up in the table.

No disrespect but another really negative view.
I'd say we have improved since world cup.
Look at it this way, unbeaten in 4, 2 clean sheets and 8 points of playoffs.
It's the most solid foundation we've had all season and something to build on.
Still a lot of games to play :bluebird:

Very lightweight again tonite and never looked like scoring,if we are looking up rather than down I will have a pint of whatever Hudson is drinking.

I stand by this Mark Hudson is not good enough to take us to the play-offs yet it’s so weak the Championship, anyone can beat anyone except us we can’t.

Hudson will struggle to keep us up, sadly I stand by that, rather be honest in my view.

He states squad is full of quality and a big squad, well then let’s see it happen on the pitch.

Well after seeing Robbo and Etete absent I thought we had a problem but I think we did well, didn't lose (again), a clean sheet and a valuable away point which I think most of us would have been happy with even with our main strikers present. Our defensive game seems to have improved which is good, goals are of course the issue if we are to progress but generally pleased with tonight's result.plus Colwill got more minutes and Davies had a run out.

Fantastic away support tonight, very loud on TV, safe journey back all.

i have no idea what we are trying to do from an offensive point of view

A flat back four
three defensive mids
its not Harris's fault he is not a back-to-goal striker (nor in CR), Colwill is out of position, and Philogene who has started like he started the season, poor

Then all the subs are L1 Ojo, Whyte, Sang,Simpson and who knows with Davies but he hasn't started for nine months.

For all the hype, the squad is very thin

Mark Hudson said the Cardiff players worked on their finishing and final ball during the WC break and even this week abd said it was all solved . Find that hard to believe. Defence was excellent again - Kipre, NG and O’Dowda - and earned that point - but second half as an attacking threat was non existent

I would not disagree with the overall comments. However, if your glass is half full, it stands that it is also half empty. We are still giving away possession too easily, which, combined with our lack of goals, makes every game difficult.

They played without Robinson and Etete. Neither are prolific but would have certainly helped. i am presuming Robinson was a late call too. In a relegation fight, you need your team to scrap for points and tonight we did.

Given that Robinson and Etete weren't available, a point away isn't a bad result against a decent Coventry team.

Positives- A point away from home. Another clean sheet. Look pretty solid defensively - hopefully we can continue to build on that. Credit to our fans who sang throughout the game despite not having much to get excited about.

Negatives - No idea what we were trying to do tonight. Watching us play was like we were sitting on a 2-0 lead. There was no intensity, no press, no one running the channels, no width, no pace. Nothing at all. We really did look clueless on the ball. It wouldn't be so bad if we got stuck in a bit and showed some passion. But there's no 'nastiness' to this team at all.

We definitely need an aggressive target man in January to give us an outlet and pull their defenders around a bit. With the embargo, I'm not sure if can get what we need though.

Another game with missed chances/shots all be it harder than previous games....considering lost both strikers and their recent home results was a good draw....an away draw use to be a good result .....times a changing. :?

2,300+ Cardiff City fans in attendance against Coventry tonight..

No wins in 6, diabolical away form, lowest scorers in the league, 19th in the table, dire football on display and a 7:45pm kick off.

What an absolute credit is fans to this football club
