MATCH THREAD: ‘BLACKBURN V CARDIFF CITY’ MATCH THREAD

Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:09 pm

EFL Championship
EWOOD Park
Sunday 1st January 2023 KO Midday

Cardiff have sold approx 300 tickets / BUT IT IS PAY ON THE GATE :bluebird:

Blackburn are on a terrible run of games:

Blackburn have lost 4 of their last 5 games including 2 4-1 defeats

TEAM NEWS: :bluebird:

Mark Huddon says he has virtually a fully fit squad for Blackburn away.

Callum Robinson looks ready to start again.

Striker Isaaks Davies is ready to start after coming on away at Coventry, his pace will help ( 29 appearances / 2 goals ).

Ebou Adams needs a couple more weeks to get fit.

Jamilu Collins is out injured for the rest of the season.

Mark Hudson:

"Robbo travelled and just missed out.," he said of Robinson. "We couldn't risk him really and it would have been a risk. He nearly made it through, but not quite. So that's not bad.

"Kion has had a spike in his intensity in game-time. He was fatigued and I don't want to put players at risk, we need him. We have a squad that is capable of coming to a place like this and getting a clean sheet.”

"I'm looking to travel with a fully-fit squad come Blackburn."

The next time Hudson takes charge of the Bluebirds, against Rovers on New Year's Day, the transfer window will have opened. As things stand, of course, City are under and embargo.

Agree, mate

Blackburn are a little bit Marmite in form but that they are still in third place shows they are capable on their day

Whilst I am ever the optimist plus Blackburn not having had a draw all season, it has the makings of a decent game with Robinson and Etete seemingly available again but I would take a draw right now :ayatollah:

Blackburn are likely to be without Sammie Szmodics and Tyrhys Dolan, who are sidelined with injury.

TEAM NEWS

Cardiff City XI: Allsop; Sang, Ng, Kipre, Simpson, O'Dowda; Winte, Ralls; Whyte, Robinson, Harris.

Subs: Luthra, Nelson, Rinomhota, Colwill, Ojo, Philogene, Davies.

If Etete is fit, then he should, at least be an option off the bench. I hope for the best but fear for us today.
We were very lucky not to concede against Coventry, but you need to be able to change things if this happens!
I would really like to see Davies and Etete in same line up (when fully fit). This might provide the much needed goals!

Nothing much happening

Harris shoots way over the bar all the space in the world

Re: MATCH THREAD: ‘BLACKBURN V CARDIFF CITY’ MATCH THREAD

Huge chance. Harris does excellently to cut out a Rovers pass and launches a counter. Robinson drags the defence one way, but Harris feeds Whyte brilliantly. He takes a touch and looks to shoot, but Garrett slides in and makes a magnificent challenge to stop the shot.

Shocking from Whyte.
Touch like a rapist!

Harris at whatever level is not a back-to-goal centre forward.

Its not his fault, but what was Morison thinking?

30mins gone both sides equal, nothing in it and shall we say not exciting

Re: MATCH THREAD: ‘BLACKBURN V CARDIFF CITY’ MATCH THREAD

Sun Jan 01, 2023 12:35 pm

I'd put O'Dowda up top, Harris and Whyte offer so little

Re: MATCH THREAD: ‘BLACKBURN V CARDIFF CITY’ MATCH THREAD

Sun Jan 01, 2023 12:40 pm

Not a shot on target so far from Cardiff after 37mins

Oh heck! I thought it was quiet but I've been updating the wrong thread!

Tom Sang got the Bluebirds out of gaol there and the game continues goalless

Callum Robinson goes close but might have been better squaring to Mark Harris

LATEST SCORE: BLACKBURN ROVERS 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY

Ng slices his clearance. Blackburn corner. City now under pressure again.

Two minuted added. Harris does well to get on the end of a long ball, but cannot get a shot away

Re: MATCH THREAD: ‘BLACKBURN V CARDIFF CITY’ MATCH THREAD

Sun Jan 01, 2023 12:49 pm

The first-half draws to a close with neither side really able to claim the upperhand, although Blackburn probably had the better chances before a great run from Bluebird Mark Harris saw him goclose with a strong, battling effort

Then another good effort from Harris goes even closer!

HALF-TIME SCORE: BLACKBURN ROVERS 0 - 0 CARDIFF CITY

Colwill and davies on
