‘Rubin Colwill, Kion Etete, Joe Ralls, Isaak Davies AND O’Dowda and Callum Robinson’

Getting the best out of Rubin Colwill must be high on the agenda, It was always a touchy subject under the former manager Steve Morison , but he is rightly a player Cardiff fans want to see more of due to his incredible ability on the ball.

There is no doubt that Cardiff know and appreciate his ability, everyone at the club is excited by his talent and potential. Colwill is fit and ready to start. He won't be shunned to the side. In fact, there is a hope he will overcome these issues and, with a bit more consistency in his play, he will play a central role for the rest of the season and beyond.

Cardiff expect to welcome back more players shortly, too. Kion Etete is understood to be back on the grass after being out for at least 5 weeks , unlike Morison’s out burst saying the fans were liars and it would only be 2 weeks, the final boxes to be ticked.

Joe Ralls is in the same situation, too.

Ebou Adams is in the latter stages of his recovery, but is not quite fully up to speed yet.

Isaak Davies is taking a little longer, though, and no concrete timeframe has been given for his return, other than to say he won't be rushed.

Republic of Ireland duo O'Dowda and Callum Robinson won't return to Cardiff's Vale base until Thursday, which will see a quick turnaround before the home clash with the Clarets at the weekend.

City fans will hear from their new manager Mark Hudson for the first time next Thursday, when he will take his first press conference. It is yet another clean slate under a new manager, who is tasked with just bridging that gap, again only four points to the top five, to the top end of the table.

Burnley would have taken a midtable finish at the start of the season. They expected their squad to be stripped apart but surprisingly to their fans they kept quite a few players. now a top 6 is expected from their fans.

I can't see us getting anything from this game.

Burnley's leading goalscorer Jay Rodriguez has hailed the impact of assistant boss Craig Bellamy as a key factor in his impressive season so far.

The Cardiff City hero has been working alongside Clarets coach Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor, and his methods are seemingly already earning rave reviews.

Rodriguez has been in red hot form so far this season, scoring five goals in eight games, and believes the influence of Bellamy has been a significant driving force.

It's been brilliant, Craig Bellamy has been great since coming in," he said. "He sees things in my game that he saw in his own game, which has helped me out in situations. We had a chat today [Tuesday] about certain aspects of my game which he thinks I can improve and how that will help the team as well.

"That's what you want as a player, someone who has that eye for detail, who can see what works while telling you how to improve as well. To listen to Bellamy, with the career he has had, and the coach he is now, is definitely a big thing and you need to listen to people like that."

He added: "We spend a lot of time at the training ground with all of the coaches. They're always around so you need to listen and learn from them. That's the way it is.

I too can see nothing from this game a complete write off in fact and could get messy.
Bellamy and kompany will have this game sussed.
There is just too much football know-how compared to our management team and Nathan tella / jay Rodrigues/ josh brownhill etc won’t mind coming up against us at the moment.
1-3 Burnley I’m afraid

Burnley?

Had a long, hard look at them. Bellers is coming back with Mr Kompany, who has made a change in playing style there.
Bellers is always friendly with me! I’m sure there will be some nerves deep down in his gut.

You’ve got two coaching staff who want to win a football match.

Rubin Colwill can’t get in the side, you conscious of that?

I’m not going to talk about previous (managers). If I talk about Rubin, we know what a talent he is. He wasn’t involved in the first fixture with Wales, he came on in the second fixture. We know what a talent he is. Between us and Wales there is a link and communication. He has grown so much over the last six months, physically and mentally, there is a lot of pressure on him.

He has a little niggle at the minute and we will monitor that over the next couple of days. It’s something we will communicate between the club and international setup, between myself and Mr Page. Trying to get the best out of him with a global approach. He has shot up. He has grown up to be a man.

He excites us and he excites the fans.

He has got a knock at the moment, we have to look at it over the next few days. He is important to the fans and the international setup.

He is a good human being and he wants to achieve as much as he can for this club. That’s what he wants and that’s what we want as well.

Can't imagine anything other than a Burnley victory unless they have a very bad day.
I'd be delighted with a draw.
However, stranger things have occurred than a City win! (but not often)

0-2

Match facts

This is the first league meeting between Cardiff and Burnley since the 2018-19 season when the sides were in the Premier League; the Clarets won both games that season.

Burnley are looking to win three consecutive league games against Cardiff for the first time since February 1994.

Cardiff City have picked up just five points in their last seven Championship matches (W1 D2 L4), having won three of their four league games before this run (L1).

Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez has scored five league goals in eight appearances this season, two more than he managed in 60 Premier League appearances across the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons (3).

Burnley defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis has progressed the ball 1,892 metres upfield with ball carries in the Championship this season, the most of any player in the division. It is also more than double than any other Clarets player has managed in the league this season (Ian Maatsen, 941m).

Perry Ng hits a great ball over the top for Robinson to chase, but the ball hits the striker on the head as he looks to allow it to drop over his shoulder. Unfortunate, Cardiff would have been away there.

Burnley are being very, very patient with their build-up play. I won't call it boring, but you get the picture.

Centre-backs having A LOT of the ball, Cardiff comfortable enough with that.

Cardiff break. Harris does well to dispossess Cullen and releases Robinson, but his shot is dragged wide.

Very Poor effort in the end.

Ralls with some excellent battling in midfield to win it and he gets the ball out to Ojo, who cuts inside and lets a shot off. It hits Harwood-Bellis and the crowd scream for a penalty, but it's rightly waved away.

Robinson with the follow-up, but it's on the half volley, with his wrong foot and he is off balance, over the bar.
