Wales join England in being relegated from League A in the Nations League following a 1-0 defeat at home to Poland.

Cardiff City player Rubin Colwill made an appearance from the bench but couldn't stop Rob Page's side from being demoted to League B.

Wales face Poland on Sunday night at CCS, in our final Nations League game and our last game before the World Cup.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm. It is live on S4C and Premier Sports.

Wales know they must win, scoring at least two goals in the process, or they will join England in being relegated from League A.

Chris Mepham and Ethan Ampadu are suspended following their yellow cards in Brussels on Thursday. Aaron Ramsey, Ben Davies, Joe Allen and Harry Wilson are all still unavailable due to injury.

Gareth Bale could start, though, having entered the game as a substitute against Belgium.

In the group's other game, Belgium go to The Netherlands with the hosts knowing they will qualify for the Nations League Finals should they avoid defeat by three goals or more.

Prefer it if bale comes on for beginning of 2nd half! Logic is if he plays 1st half he is not match fit and if he goes off (likely) and we are not winning going off will galvanise poland....play 2nd half have feel good for us and fear for them. :D

Sad to say that we are going down to league B tonight, it's been a good run in league A though.

A good run? It’s been one campaign

Based on what? Narrow defeat to 2nd best team in world... narrow defeats in other games with half a 1st team playing in all of the games... guess in your eyes that's optimism for being relegated . :?

@ Something blue - that's all it takes. A run is 3 games plus.

@ Pembroke Allan - Good opposition yes but not in the best form really. Also I know our line up's haven't been full strength. We have looked out of our depth with our main players playing at times. Onwards and upwards though hopefully.

As Steve Morrison would say performance before results :D but to be honest we have performed admirably in this campaign against some of the best teams in the World.

Remember the teams we have faced are not the sort of teams we would face in the Group Stage of the WC but they are the sort of teams we would expect to play in the latter rounds - and we have held our own in those matches.

I feel very confident that we can score 2 goals tonight. If we do (provided its not a draw) we stay in European Elite league - where England can only watch in awe :)

With a superior goal difference, more goals scored and only losing by one in Poland can someone explain why we need to score two?

They scored 2 v us

Need to equal their score against us.... so 2-0 or any win by us above that score will do it

But if we win 1-0 we will have scored 2 against them

Doesn’t work like that

Not seen anywhere say we need to win 2 nil. Only that we need to win.

So i now understand. Probably one of the most arbitrary ways of deciding a game since the toss of a coin.

Very even first half with both teams having chances.

Big second half about to start.

If we had VAR for this game then the ref would be sub'd

Pure guesser

How do such poor refs get games like this?

The last time we see Bale in red at the CCS, never a starter anymore

The MLS doesn't prepare you for full-blooded European competition.

I agree.
Laughing at the end of the game with a spare hair bobble on his wrist!
Embarrassing.

I have worked him out, he takes 15 mins to get up to speed, we are going to need to get him to do a special warm-up

I get it's hard being a sub but he is like it as a starter

I started this as a joke, but it may have legs :?

Gutted with result, but nobody can doubt our spirit. Put everything into that, even at the end when the most we would have got out of it was a draw.

Fair play to Poland, defended brilliantly.

Relegation disappointing but we put out weakened teams at times.

Plenty of positives to take from this game and roll on Qatar!

Impressed with Colwill when he came on, and I'm not one of his biggest supporters.

James is frustrating to watch. Brilliant in all the build-up but yet again his play around the penalty area wasn't good enough.

Bale may well as well not have been there, offered very little. Even when he hit the bar, he should had at least headed it on target. Been a great player obviously for us, and will almost certainly start at the World Cup, but after that he shouldn't be starting games in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

We clearly missed Mepham, and I thought Cabango struggled. Although, to be fair, him and Rodon were up against one of the best strikers in the world. That flick by Lewandowski for their goal was nothing short of world class.

All in all, I'm not too disappointed despite the result and relegation. There's plenty for Page to think about ahead of his selection for the World Cup. Looking forward to it.

A couple of years ago none of us even understood this competition but at the end of the day it's a friendly albeit a competitive one

Huge decisions for Page in regards to Bale, the only thing he did was almost stop playing to tie up his hair.

The move to the MLS looks like it's not going to achieve its main aim.

Was always going to be an anti climax after the World Cup qualifying success.
Having said that that Page is lucky Tan isn't in charge at the Wales F. A. He would have had a call at 10.
and sacked by 5 past.

Noticed that, how embarrassing perhaps in the spirit of sportsmanship Poland should have kicked the ball out of play.
