Calling games off , really?

A f*cking joke

I totally agree.
If there was a dedicated day of mourning or the day of the funeral then fair enough but come on in this day of age I feel it’s up to the individuals what they want to do.
Times are very hard and worrying at the moment and cancelling all events are just adding to the problem.
There’s an old saying ‘Life must go on’.

It's not a joke for anyone.!! There as always been a protocol for this event as was when previous monarchs have died.. what's different this time is the times we live in and fact shes been here for 70yrs as head of state..... not easy to replace a protocol that's hundreds of year old..... postponement of one possible 2 games is not much to suffer considering the event that's happened. :?

Problem for me is there might be people all around the country not earning money if things are postponed. and right now it is the last thing those people probably need. We have almost two years of ill advised lockdowns, we cannot afford any more breaks from work for people, especially those getting paid by the shift/hour.

I think a minutes silence, black armbands and get the games on.

Allan you make it sound (1or 2 games ) a very little matter. It’s the whole professional sport and entertainment that it’s affecting.
Millions of £s will be lost and in the current climate it just doesn’t make sense, yes a lot of people will want to Mourn and each and every one can do it in their own way.
I can assure you one thing that if our game is off tomorrow I won’t be sat around my house as I will play golf or go down the pub.

Life goes on.

This is a historical moment in the history of the United Kingdom and the world and I understand the reasoning for games to be postponed. Because this allows every British citizen living in the UK the time to remember and mourne the life of the great HM Elizabeth Queen II.

Sport can wait.

So not only will you be adding to the economy at a golf course you wouldn't originally have been going to but the game will also go ahead on another date.

Seems an increase in £'s spent not a loss.

Life is going on not every sporting event is cancelled but football in this case is being sensible .... can you imagine the aggro football in particular will get for showing lack of respect? I get it that no everyone is respectful to her death but we are talking of uk in particular are showing the respect she deserves...... football is no different just like horse racing and other high profile sports have cancelled tomorrow programmes... as I said this is not a whim it's long held protocol Same as all the other countries have protocols for death of their head of state or leader...

Exactly!

Whilst I appreciate she meant a great deal to millions of people all round the world, and I am sure an inspiration to them. And she did seem like a nice dignified lady. Fact remains, a lot of people including myself have little or no interest or loyalty to monarchy, commonwealth, the union flag or hierarchy of any kind.

The world is rightly a diverse place, its naive to think that everyone is upset and in mourning. Life goes on, a minutes silence and black armbands would suffice.

Careful lads, the Cardiff city forum gestapo will be out to ban you now. I got banned last night for saying less than this. Mods are a joke here too.

Imagine the reaction a rendition of God Save The Queen would get from City fans, I would rather it be cancelled than the reaction that it normally gets tbh. :bluebird:

At end day every sport had a choice some chose to continue on Sunday others chose to cancel the weekend games ... .. it's that simple and not a problem for most. :old:

You said that in another running thread, so why make your own? :?

Clearly you (at least think) you don't like the Royals but you should have a modicom of respect for the fact someone has died and many feel this is a way of showing their respects

I don't actually think games should have been cancelled but seemingly the Government thought they should

A little inconvenient, of course, but it has been 72 years since the last similar occurence and few of us were around for that

The game will be replayed, so no big loss in the grand scheme, is it...? ;)

What about the people who simply do not give a f**k?

My alarm went off this morning and expected to be met with the humour of Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist on the breakfast show.
But was hit with loads of spill about the Queen.
It ruined my wake up.
Whilst I do not want to disrespect the death of anyone.
I simply don't care.
I'm avoiding all news as it's going to go on and on about it constantly for weeks.
Then it will be all about Prince, sorry King Charles.
Again I don't care.
And as for the national anthem.
I just have to turn it off.
And I'm an English man by birth but have Irish in my family a few lines back.
I'm a Cardiff city fan and support Wales and England in football.
Wales first as city are in my blood now and Wales has been my home for most of my life.
Please let's just talk about Cardiff City and footy and Welsh sport.
Or and other sport.
Time to move on.
