MY VIEW / OPINION: SADLY ANOTHER LOCAL DERBY LOST / WHEN

Sun Aug 21, 2022 12:57 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

SADLY ANOTHER LOCAL DERBY LOST / WHEN WILL WE TAKE THESE DERBY GAMES SERIOUSLY / CARDIFF FANS DO / FOR ME THE WORZELS DESERVED YET ANOTHER WIN AGAINST CARDIFF

Could of been more

Cardiff did at times play some good football, but in front of goal awful, and yet again it seemed the Worzels wanted it more.

I WAS HOPING FOR MUCH MORE FROM MORISONS NEW TEAM

We neeca quality striker before the end of the mont, Watters or Harris are def not the answer and Morison must see that??

Weve scored 3 goals in 6 matches including the Cup game, not enough

Steve Morison made 4 changes, Bagan, Romaine, Sawyers and Callum O'Dowda all started, for the Bluebirds :bluebird:

Max Watters had his 5th start, but still no goals and missed a sitter (Now 17 appearances / 1 goal for the Bluebirds}

Cardiff did have a couple of chances.

FIRST-HALF: Bristol, the better in the first 25mins, Cardiff came in to the game more and more.
37th min: OH NO WATTERS MISSES A SITTER
Good run by Watters.
Should of beat the keeper, got to be scoring from there.

41st min: Bristol score
A lovely ball from Wells and Conway with an excellent header 1-0

Bristol then hit crossbar 43rd min.

Wells and Conway were a real threat to Cardiff.

Offside City score
Ojo scores but offside.

Bristol edged the first-half.

SECOND-HALF: Bristol dominated for long periods, 64th min: 2nil
It was coming
Bristol City 2-0 Cardiff City (Atkinson 64)
Goal. A header from a free-kick. Too easy.

65th min:Ralls and Colwill on. Rinomhota and Sawyers off.

84th min: Kion Etete on / Romeo off: Morison went 2 upfront.

BRISTOL CITY 2 CARDIFF CITY 0
H-T 1-0
Crowd 21,645
Away Support: 2,471 :bluebird:

Cardiff City : Allsop; Romeo, Ng, Kipre, Bagan; Wintle, Rinomhota, Sawyers; O'Dowda, Watters, Ojo.

Subs: Alnwick, Ralls, Etete, Philogene, Simpson, Colwill, Harris.

Cardiff lost Joel Bagan to an injury after just 7mins, Simpson replaced him.

15th min:What a let of for Cardiff, Bristol should of done better great save by Allsop :thumbright:

19th min: Bristol goal disallowed, Allsop clearly fouled.

37th min: OH NO WATTERS MISSES A SITTER
Good run by Watters.
Should of beat the keeper, got to be scoring from there.

42nd min: Bristol score
A lovely ball from Wells and Conway with an excellent header 1-0

Bristol then hit crossbar 43rd min.

49th min: Offside City score
Ojo scores but offside.

H-T 1-0

Cardiff players were just standing about, Bristol created 2 good chances with in a min.

Watters stood watching on the edge of the box when O’Dowda crossed it in to him

57th min: Watters off, Harris on.

Ojo off, Philogene on.

64th min:
2nil
It was coming
Bristol City 2-0 Cardiff City (Atkinson 64)
Goal. A header from a free-kick. Too easy.

65th min:Ralls and Colwill on. Rinomhota and Sawyers off.

77th min: Goal worzels / off side

84th min: Kion Etete on / Romeo off

Just not good enough Cardiff today

After two good performances today we just didn't turn up.

But same story again. Missed our chances. They took theirs.

An experienced striker is desperately needed.

Colwill needs to play more.

That miss was a turning point for me. We were well in it at that’s stage and growing. You could see them deflate after that. The goal just confirmed it. Well beaten.

We can’t win everything. What’s more important now is how we react.

Definitely need more up top though.

Hard to disagree. Just hope we’re back at the races on Saturday.

Well I'm pointing the finger at Watters and that miss. If that would have gone in it would have been a different game. He is a striker and if he cannot score on one to one then he needs to look at another profession.

I feel we should start Colwill as well. Why he is only starting on the bench is beyond me.

Ralls should be dropped totally. He was been a disaster of late.

I feared that when we went behind we have not got the bottle to bounce back. My fears are proving right.

My hope now is we do not find yourselves in a relegation fight again like last season.

Had a chance to take the lead, didn't take it and then go behind and chasing the game.
Second goal killed it as a contest and not much happened after that.

Big games swing on big moments and Watters yet again failed in a one on one. The chance has been given and hes not good enough. He must be dropped. Morison failed to motivate his team for a derby yet again. Bristol wanted it more and won headers and battles more. Not good enough or acceptable.

We're a different team at home.

Said on the match thread. Some tweaks are needed when we're playing away.

3 goals in 5 league games and a derby in which we don't show up for as usual it's nothing more than i expected deep down. Long old season ahead eitherway it's early doors still. I'd change the system but that will only bring harris on with watters it seems and for me both are definitely not good enough for this level sadly. But you get what you pay for as they say in most cases. Passing out from the back like we are man City does not work if you got nothing moving about but morrison loves that.

Jimmy it's the way he sets up team that is problem? Yes watters should be scoring but where else are goals coming from? Seems that morison is more concerned about passing safely out from back and forget about going forward which in fairness we do very well when players put mind to it... we are actually better than results have been but unless he changes his attitude the good start will slowly be eroded..

Good post, Watters is bunk and it’s not just this game he’s missed a sitter or an easy chance. How people can still stick up for him is beyond me.

Agree with Colwill also. He needs a few starts now where he can push on.

I predicted an up and down season with a mid to top half of the table finish but I’m confident we won’t be in a relegation battle.

Watters didn’t ‘miss a sitter’ it was a good save. And it’s no suprise his confidence is low when every f slags him off week in week out

Win today and everyone loves Morison and the squad, but we lose. Yes it’s a derby, yes we didn’t turn up but everyone grow up, this is the best football cardiff have played in a long time with a progressive manager and players who try to play football. It isn’t going to be perfect every week. I’m as disappointed today as everyone else but why slate individual players? It’s pathetic, support the TEAM ffs

Morro has worked wonders on no budget whatsoever, he had put together a pretty much free squad who are playing football for the first time since the Dave Jones era. What happened to giving the manager and team time this season? It’s a disappointing derby defeat but f*cking grow up

Bristol City are also skint.

These derby games mean a lot to our fans and yes it hurts to keep losing them.

Who said anyone wants Morison gone??

We are on about this particular game.

After 10-12 games we will have a better picture in which direction we are going, but today, we deserved to lose.

Are fans not allowed their opinions and how they see it??

v WBA they praised massively.

Max Watters is a striker, so yes hes expected to score some goals at least.

Well Watters can do something about that by scoring. He is a striker and that is what he is meant to do. How many chances has he had one against one?

Re: MY VIEW / OPINION: SADLY ANOTHER LOCAL DERBY LOST / WH

Watters keeps trying now becoming very trying.Ralls should pack his kit bag and move on. Captain useless should have spent money on another player and nor renewed his contract. Colwill OK got talent but keeps falling over seems to have balance problem. OK on to 2 home games let's hope things improve. Striker on his way soon I hope as said by many Watters Harris not the answer. We will have better days

Of course every fan is allowed an opinion, i just hate how fickle this whole fan base is. Full of praise after the last 2 games but now all of a sudden it’s doom and gloom and individual players are being attacked (not just on here)

We all hate losing derbys but just keep level headed and trust the process

No striker is going to want to come here, we lost 2-0 & almost everyone is blaming Watters for not scoring with 1 chance. I have said from the start that we need another striker but we need to support what we have and I really can't see how anyone is going to score in this team at the moment, it's like the midfield has been told the final 3rd of the pitch is made of lava.

There have been plenty of balls played in to dangerous areas. If I was a striker watching the Brum game I'd be rubbing my hands together. A proper striker could've had 2 hatricks!!

My point exactly. We can all see that Watters probably isn’t good enough, but his movement made the Brum goal last weekend, no one talks about that? And yes, he should have scored the 1v1 against brum. But why slag him off after today! It’s not his fault we conceded 2 goals, us fans love a scapegoat!

That pull back from O’dowda was brilliant and watters should have been there, but it’s not his fault we lost 2-0. He got into the position for the chance he had and the keeper made a good save

We need a good striker, that is what we are missing badly and We've known this for over 7months.

Re: MY VIEW / OPINION: SADLY ANOTHER LOCAL DERBY LOST / WH

I think the consensus has been full of support for Max but there comes a time when enough is enough.
He has been given a decent run of starts....had chances and missed them all.

Had he scored that chance today's result would have probably been different. You could feel the frustration in Steve Morisons interview.

Time to sign a striker for first team or if not this season is mid table at best.
