Wednesday 22nd September UPDATE

Wed Sep 22, 2010 9:05 pm

Craig Bellamy has not trained with the squad since returning from Montengro, he has been at the Vale daily but training seperate to the squad. When Craig came back from International duty he had fluid on his knee and he had it drained which as we said at the time ruled him out of the Hull game but was also likely to rule him out of the 2 away games that followed.

The night I said that Bellamy, Bothroyd and Drinkwater would miss the Hull game I received phone calls from the press, interested in the news, asking me is it true that Bellamy is out ? I even received calls to say that I was damaging ticket sales yet a whole day prior to my update it was reported that the club had less than 500 tickets available to sell for the game.

The club were keen to keep their cards close to their chest regarding Bellamy, there were stories ' put out ' that Bellamy was facing a fitness test prior to Leicester and Ipswich but this was obviously an exaggeration of the truth, either to keep the opposing team guessing and with regards to the Hull game, not to damage ticket sales.

The reason there has been a lot of mixed stories lately is because, I believe, the club are deliberatley trying to put positive spin on Bellamy and obviously cash in on his name. What I can tell you though that as of today Craig has not trained with the squad since the Wales game and no matter what amount of conditioning is done he is unlikely to start on Saturday or Tuesday even. As I have said he has been at the Vale and trained at the same time time as the rest of the squad but has not been training with the whole squad.

The truth is Craig was not fit enough to make his 'dream debut' for us against Doncaster and he should never have played for Wales either but now it is all about getting him fit and making sure he is right to make an impact throughout the season for Cardiff City, he did not have a pre season and is playing catch up but the club do not want to have a player who is breaking down continuously because he has not had the correct rest.

On Monday I reported that Seyi Olofinjana was expected to be fit for the Millwall, tonight I have been told that there is some doubt as to whether he will make it, dont get me wrong the odds are well in his favour but it is not a foregone guarantee that he will make it.

With Whittingham and a new contract, I am told that a new contract has not been agreed but he is ready to sit down and talk over a new contract. Whittingham told the club at the end of the season and when he reported back for pre season that he would like to talk to Forest over a potential move but never reached the stage of communication with them and when City started making the signings that they did Whitts went to DJ and told him he wanted to stay, so there is why DJ was confident in leaving his contract talks until the transfer window had shut.

On the subject of Dave Jones there are a couple of points I would like to make, firstly on Monday i asked the question, Who is making the decision to stop Wales media access to the press conferences ?

I was wrong when I said it was not Dave Jones' decision not to talk to Terry Phillips or the rest of Wales Media, when I have been told tonight that it is solely Dave Jones' decision and nobody else's at the club, I wanted to put the record straight on that issue as it would not be fair on the club when they have not banned certain journo's and have continued to allow them access to the players and staff but it is Dave Jones who will not speak to the local paper.

Dave Jones is the most powerful manager Cardiff City has ever had. Period. He has total control over the transfers and the structure of the club, the Malaysians have entrusted him as the person to oversee the club and have handed him a free reign that no manager has ever been afforded in the past, as a result we have seen Bellamy, Koumas and Olofinjana sign, these players are a result of a manager granting his own wish.

Dave Jones wants to see Soloman Taiwo and Aaron Wildig go out on loan to gain experience and get game time as he does not see them featuring for City with the squad he has assembled.

So carl bellamys not going back to man city?

Re: Wednesday 22nd September UPDATE

all seems logical.
Surprised about Bellamy as Chops told me Monday he thought he would be fit (I didnt even ask him about Bellamy he just said it himself). I agree that we need to get him back fully fit now and just risk not having him involved early on.

Also someone said that WItts himself said on CCFC player that he had agreed a new deal?

I'm not at all bothered about Bellamy. I'm willing to give him til Christmas if it means he can have every game from then on as good as he did against Donny (considering he wasn't fit, he was still f*cking class wasn't he?!).

Bothroyd and Olifinjana are essential to our team's success. Drinkwater and Riggott will both serve as better options than the ones we're using currently as well.

But injuries are part and parcel of the game.

We're never going to go through a season 46-0-0.

I still have confidence we will better last season's 4th placed finish.

Oh and of course, thanks for the update Carl.

The story with Matthews is he has been told that once he got to 25 appearences he would be rewarded with a new contract, as yet this has not happened which is sad but it also rubbishes the claims that we have offered him a contract that is less than what he is currently on.

Called it.

But im not too dis heartened, its a long season, id rather he was 100% ready. I think if oli comes back, that will take the pressure off whitts and burke, and we can get some structure back to our midfield and get jay scoring again.

Cheers carl

So destiny of our club is in DJ's hands. I just hope he is NOT the master of his own [or, more importantly, our] destruction!

Cheers Carl, nice one.

I'm concerned we are going to have the same team out as we did against Ipswich. Hopefully Oli will be back but I'm concerned about this injury that stopping him from doing 90 minutes.

I'm one concerned guy at the moment and hope we can get a result against Millwall and Palalce on our own turf then look forward to seeing everyone return.

Re: Wednesday 22nd September UPDATE

If he is in total control then it because we have no one else to do it so maybe he needs some more respect for the extra work he is doing?

Thanks Carl :ayatollah:

What about Bellamy playing for Wales against Bulgaria and Switzerland ? What would Dave think of that ?

Agreed that it's very important that he recovers correctly. No point risking him !

Any idea when he will appear for City next ?
