Cardiff city director Jalil Rasheed resigns

Mon Mar 21, 2022 7:56 pm

After a year as Group CEO of Berjaya Corporation, I informed my board of my intention to step down effective 31 March 2022. I wanted to take some time off, have a break and pursue a personal venture I’ve been working on.

He was appointed to specifically rationalise the Berjaya portfolio. Must be a tough paper round.

Well he achieved nothing for us.

Another one bites the dust.

He lasted longer than some of Tan's managers at City.

Yep longer than Scott Young and Danny Gabbiadon and we count them don’t we when it suits?

Longer than one of Sam’s managers too.

Not sure what your point is. As per usual.

Wow just seen you brought Sam in to it once again to another poster, your obsession against SAM is unbelievable, I thought we all agreed to move on from Sam and talk about our present situation, but not you.

Jalil Rasheed was brought in to fill the vacant role of a scapegoat and now the goat has escaped.

Re: Cardiff city director Jalil Rasheed resigns

What’s he actually done for Cardiff?

Re: Cardiff city director Jalil Rasheed resigns

Tue Mar 22, 2022 10:34 am

I read this with some interest, did some research and concluded that Mr Rasheed's 'departure' was most likely of his own volition and for the reasons he states

Successful CEO's in big business have a 'roving' tendency and often move on once their 'task' is complete

This is what Mr Rasheed's 'role' was at Berjaya Corp...

"Jalil is Group CEO of the consumer investment group, Berjaya Corporation, where he chairs companies in the retail, food, hospitality, environment, and digital sectors. He is a passionate football fan and a Deputy Chairman of Cardiff City Football Club (UK), KV Kortrijk (Belgium) and FK Sarajevo (Bosnia)."

So whilst part of his profile is as 'Deputy Chairman', it's not all about the football side and more an overview of the whole Berjaya Corp. business

An interesting figure is that the copmpany's share value jumped 18% on Mr Rasheed's appointment, so he appears to be a man who knows what he is doing and further reading shows that Berjaya are now in a better position than when he arrived

What this has to do with the finances and/or direction of Cardiff City FC (or the other two clubs) I genuinely don't know; but I do find ot difficult to believe his 'expertise' has had little or no effect on the current/future direction of the club

Massive changes this summer, regardless of the CAS outcome, and who is to say much of that hasn't been driven by Mr Rasheed on behalf of Vincent Tan?

Apart from education, better roads, medicine...and the aqueduct.

For those among us that remember Life of Brian.

isn't this the one who when unveiled as a Cardfif City Director, wore Green, and then when we got pumped by Fulham i think it was, he was on twitter all excited how amazing the liverpool game was. shambles. why can't we have people who actually care about the future of the club on the board

You mean in response to his mentioning Tan?

He’s obsessed mate not me.

I’m merely (once again) pointing out there are two sides and balancing his comment.

As usual you jump on my post while ignoring that he brought up Tan. Yes I thought we were moving on from divisiveness. Clearly not in his case.

Obsessed is what he is. I can’t say it more clearer although I know you don’t read my posts.

I am a fan of Sam. He did a lot of good for my club. I am not anti Sam.

I’ll be honest, in his position I couldn’t care who he supports. He’s not going to half arse his job just because he’s not a CCFC fan and I’d prefer the best qualified person is hired rather than scrounging around the bottom of the barrel just to find a Cardiff City fan.
From all I know about the guy (admittedly not much) he seemed to be regarded as pretty good at what he did.

Would you not take Klopp as manager just because he’s a Stuttgart fan?

see i would normally agree, but it was at the time we were struggling under mick, think we lost 4-0 was either WBA or Fulham, we played 5 centre backs, 3 holding midfielders, lost the game far to easy and mick said after "i thought we played well until they scored" and it was at the time when results had been going against us.

the problem is if we had Klopp and we lost 4-0, and fans were calling for the managers head and he went out and went, WOW did you see how great stuggart were tonight

i don't care who the CEO supports but i just thought it was really bad timing, considering the fans were calling for Mick to go, and we were struggling and a CEO of our club was watching another team. i'd be just as annoyed though if we win 2-0 and Dalman is tweeting about great United looked or something

He also lasted longer than Bobby Gould.

No manager under Tan lasted less time than Bobby Gould.

Do you know what he did for Cardiff? Unlike previously, information flow from the club is kept to a minimum. It doesn’t mean he didn’t do anything.

Again I ask, what’s your point?

Id be more interested in what Mehmet Dalman says or even his current interest in the city.
Last seen at leckwith when he sacked Mad Mick.

He's finally going to write that novel about the maverick but enigmatic businessman who's underappreciated by his boss, a mysterious man who occasionally wears a football top over this shirt and tie.

Your post on this subject was class. I was more on about the bile regarding my alleged obsession with Sam when I was merely pointing out that in response to other bile from one of the usual suspects turning a post into a dig at Tan.

Neil,

The other day you started another topic praising your messiah Tan about thanks to his backing we got a good squad of players etc
I had to laugh for days.

We sold Kieffer Moore and bought NO one once again.
We sent more players out on loan as not good enough the other clubs paid their low wages.
The ones with high wages we paid towards.

The players we brought in we paid less than half their wages and as they came from their 2nd teams so were not on massive wages.
Anyway 95% of the wages have evened out over the season.

We have struggled yet again, last home crowd 17,000 which I attended, fans are voting with their feet and I will guarantee now that we will not sell 14,500 season tickets next season, way less unless fans see big improvements on the quality brought in.

I have from day one praised Steve Morison for doing so well with NO money and improved the football.

Tan was forcing previous managers to have 10 players that the majority were No good or not ready for the first team.

PLEASE ANSWER THIS / PLEASE VALUE OUR SQUAD THAT IS LEFT AFTER THIS SEASON FINISHES?

Goalkeepers : Phillips, Ratcliffe.

Defenders : Ng, McGuinness, Nelson, Denham, Connolly, Bagan.

Midfielders : Tom Sang, Wintle, Colwill, Bowen, King, Whyte, Evans.

Forwards : James Collins, Mark Harris, Max Watters, Isaak Davies, Zimba.

Was that the one about value of our squad improving DUE TO MORISON?

There’s absolutely no point Annis.

My post the other day had my thoughts on the value of our squad currently. Clearly it needs strengthening with loans (like in January), free transfers (like Malky did when Tan just took over) or players purchased like we have done many times in the past and overpaid most of the time.

If Tan isn’t prepared to support Morison this summer then it is probable that we are going to struggle next season. Morison has proven to be a good coach and manager but he won’t be able to perform miracles.

If Tan has no intention of backing the manager then he needs to sell us.

Now in your head I’m sure you are seeing me worshipping Tan and criticising Sam somehow.
