1,000% Ian.

I love and support Cardiff City No matter what, 50 Consecutive seasons as a season ticket holder.

I detest and don’t trust the regime one bit.

Don’t agree fully with your first point As a 6 year old i supported Leeds and i had all the posters etc Then my uncle took me to my first City game when i was 10 and have never supported another team since but City In fact i have seen over 1000 city matches

Yes. its when you make that conscious decision that it counts.

Yes. its when you make that conscious decision that it counts.

This is so true. When I was about 10-12 I noticed football, previous to that only rugby was on my mind. My eldest Bro, 6 years my senior, "decided" to be a Man U fan. With sibling rivalry and "younger brother syndrome" driving my thinking, I looked for the team that Man U fans hated the most and "decided" I was a Liverpool fan.

Around the age of 14, I was invited to a Cardiff game by the older, cooler kids, a couple of years older than me.

The rest is history. The buzz, atmosphere, chanting and tribal loyalty sucked me straight in. I've never looked back. It was like a drug, and like all drugs we had a few highs and many lows. Once that drug gets you there is no turning back. :bluebird:

Don't bother talking to the Mrs. about the game, she might pretend, but she doesn't give a shit.

The question I get is 'was it an important game?'

Grangetown born and bred it never crossed my mind to support anyone else but City. I too must have seen over 1000 games, but always remember my first season as a regular on the Grange End. My first night game under the lights was magical, the smell of Bovril and pipe tobacco, looking at the Canton stand and seeing lights everywhere with people lighting their pipes and fags, radio Ninian had about 3 records it seemed and they played them every week. They were great days to be a fan. :bluescarf:

I think the Bovril was ok, but it was mainly bought to wrap your hands round the cup to warm them up.

One of mine was always rushing to buy the pink Football Echo. I still can't believe how quickly it was available after FT.

Loved that paper, bit of Gren’ (god rest his soul) used to get it off Edwin at the top of town in Caerphilly (the worlds oldest paper ‘boy’) happy days :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

It was always available for me by the time I got off the train to Barry so that I could hawk it around the clubs & the pubs.

I'm originally a Cadoxton lad so we may have been on the same train. Always amazed me how it was in the shops by 6pm.

Another one was me and my Dad watching the BBC and him marking the results down on his pools sheet. Can't remember the name of the announcer but he was the voice of football for many years.

James Alexander Gordon.

You could correctly guess the away teams score, just by the inclination in his voice.

Maybe John Webster or James Alexander Gordon

Me too, lived in Laura street, across the road from the dow corning main gate, went to palmerston infants school. My father had 12 or 13 brothers & sisters and a few of them lived around the same area. I'm sure we knew a lot of the same people depending on your age, I'm late 50s.

It was Tim Gudgin who was on Grandstand and Final Score. You knew if it was going to be a win, loss or draw just by his voice inflections.

I'm mid 50s so we probably do, I lived off Weston Hill.

When the opposition goalie takes a goal kick, you have to go "You're shit, Aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

i started watching us in the early 70s where I stood at the front of the GrangeEnd. We use to always applaud the away keeper when they came to defend the goal in front of us.

Tim Gudgin took over from James Alexander Gordon who perfected the art. I remember a feature on him in my Grandstand Annual when I was a kid. Frank Bough was on the cover.

You saying that has somehow triggered a memory of when it was once fashionable to throw toilet rolls on the pitch, they'd unfurl as they flew through the air as they unravelled. Another unwritten rule.
